    Ubuntu server on USB

    Posted: 28 Feb 2022 08:53 PM PST

So i have a AMD BC-250 rig with 12 cards. each needing their own instance of Ubuntu. I want to use Ubuntu server on a usb but every program ive used to write ubuntu server onto a usb shows "install ubuntu server" on boot. i want to have the usb hold the image and have it boot right off the usb. ive looked into lili and other programs but cant find an easy way to do this.

    Any suggestions?

3080 power draw being weird, and 3090 thermal pads

    Posted: 28 Feb 2022 08:20 PM PST

Hey guys. Couple questions. So I was only getting 85 mh/s at 208 Watts on my 3080 gaming x. Thought it was the thermal pads, switched em out, did wonders for temps, but still only getting 85 mh/s, same wattage. Updated to the latest BIOS, and I can now increase PL to 102 max, and achieve 99 Mh/s, HOWEVER, it draws 330 watts and totally kills my efficiency. If I turn it down to 101, it drops my power draw to 220, and I get 95 mh/s.

While that's better, it's not perfect. If I put it up even 1%, my wattage draw goes through the roof. I'd like to be able to draw the ideal 240 watts, but I can't seem to get it to. Any insight on any of your parts?

Also, anyone know the thermal pad sizes for a 3090 XC3 Ultra Gaming? I wanna switch them out but can't find the sizes ANYWHERE.

    TIA.

Does anyone have experience with controlled power?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2022 04:27 AM PST

Little background for those that don't know, Controlled power means that your provider can turn off your electricity anytime they want. This is usually for if the provider has a lack of supply or is doing maintenance and needs to redirect their power, This means power is much much cheaper)

The reason that I ask is because I live in NZ and our power costs are pretty high (0.2234c/Kwh NZD) but if you go to a controlled power plan the cost drops to around 0.12c/Kwh (NZD), I was wondering how a mining rig (pulling about 2000w) would cope on something like that. Would it reboot properly after a cut? I doubt its a good idea but thought I would ask

    Sorry for long post

Currently getting 118 mh, reporting 39 deg C, 292w. Do I get thermal pads for this?

    GPU market manipulation?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2022 11:25 AM PST

I was lucky to snatch a 3080 asus tuf from the Canadian best buy drop this thursday. I saw the 3080 non-lhr come up as available and i added it to cart. I was skeptical and i was 95% sure it was maybe a SKU issue and that its actually a v2 LHR card, but i wanted to believe...

I go to the store, pick it up. No lhr sticker, Product code seems also fine. At that point i was 95% sure that maybe now they are all LHR and they just dropped the sticker and went back to one and same product code.

Got home, put it in the rig, card is doing 101 at 220W. I was skeptical all this time, but indeed it was a FHR card i got from a big retailer in end February. Which begs the question - how is it possible to get a brand new card in late february of 2022 that is not LHR?

Do they continue making these cards? Or are all these industry players limiting supply on purpose? Now that Intel ia joining the market, they decided to ameliorate the shortage issues and release more cards from their stockpiles... thought?

    RTX A2000 12GB Mining Hashrates

    RTX A2000 12GB Mining Hashrates

    Red Panda Mining's RTX A2000 (6GB models)

My buddy Dizzy Mining completed the testing for the Algos below with the certain configurations I would have tested, but because this card is so efficient we had to adjust our thinking. When normally working with Nvidia GPUs we would play with Powerlimit to find that right balance, but leaving it at 100% is the best for the RTX A2000. Honestly, I agree with Dizzy, just save the money and get the 6GB model of this GPU, unless you really want to mine certain Algos like Cortex that requires much more memory. It is up to you to decide, but please show some love to Dizzy Mining by checking the link below, and take care. Dizzy Mining Vid of Hashrate: https://youtu.be/AANfh0E4poE

    Trex Miner - ETH

    32.8 Mhs 0 core / 0 mem TDP - 100% 69 Watt
    35 Mhs 0 core / 1250 mem TDP - 100% 69 Watt
    27.5 Mhs 0 core / 1250 mem TDP - 70% 63 Watt
    24.7 Mhs -502 core / 1250 mem TDP - 50% 62 Watt
    27 Mhs -200 core / 1200 mem TDP - 50% 62 Watt
    38 Mhs 0 core / 900 mem TDP - 100% 66 Watts

Having the memory too high will cause the hashrate to drop rather than improve.

For most of the Algos below, leaving the TDP or powerlimit at 100% is the best, because this card is so efficient.

    Trex Miner - ETC

    32.8 Mhs 0 core / 0 mem TDP - 100% 69 Watt
    35.7 Mhs 0 core / 500 mem TDP - 100% 69 Watt
    29 Mhs 0 core / 500 mem TDP - 80% 62 Watt

    100 Mhs 100 core / 1000 mem TDP - 80% 69 Watt

    T-Rex Miner - KAWPoW

    14.56 Mhs 0 core / 0 mem TDP - 100% 69 Watt
    Fail - Crash PL to low 0 core / 0 mem TDP - 80% 62 Watt

    T-Rex Miner - Firo - MTP

    9.19 Mhs 0 core / 0 mem TDP - 80% 55 Watt
    9.3 Mhs 100 core / 0 mem TDP - 80% 55 Watt
    9.08 Mhs 100 core / 500 mem TDP - 85% 55 Watt

Depending on temps where your rig or GPUs are, Max 15.34 when cold, 14.8 stable and the Core drops heavily at 80%.

    T-Rex Miner - Octopus - Conflux

    29.3 Mhs 0 core / 0 mem TDP - 100% 69 Watt
    18.3 Mhs 0 core / 0 mem TDP - 80% 55 Watt

    GramSwap - Swap $TON for $XRP

    Posted: 27 Feb 2022 04:07 PM PST

GramSwap lets you swap TON for XRP instantly and hassle-free.

I noticed that dual mining became popular recently and a lot of miners where having trouble off loading TON from dual mining with ETH, so I created this website to help you cash out your TON.

I hope someone finds it useful. Feel free to ask me anything

hiveOS crashes every few hours, switches my gpus around.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2022 07:39 AM PST

Hey guys, I've been mining multiple coins for a few months, I've got 3 different flight sheets on 3 different cards. everything's been fine, but anytime I want to boot to windows (to access wallets), I have to unplug the cards that are on risers, or I get no video at all. Any idea why this is?

So yesterday after hooking everything back up after accessing windows, hive os gets stuck at the start screen, and I have to force a -firstrun, pull my rig id and all that. Now my cards in hiveOS have switched spots.. not that I put them in different spots, the computer just decided to switch them. gpu 0 is now 1, 1 is 2 etc.. took me a minute to figure this out, but all my overclocks switched around. I've got a 1080, 2060, and a 580. Also mining QRL with my ryzen.

So I finally think I have everything running smoothly again, but every few hours it just stops. My screen will be frozen, the watts and stuff on the top of the screen is empty, and of course my phone won't connect.

What the heck is going on here?

    1. Why do I need to unplug my risers to access windows?

    2. Why did hive freak out and make me re-do everything? and then switch the card spots on me..

    3. Why won't it stay running!
