Posted: 27 Dec 2021 09:26 AM PST Assuming you had $20K in liquid non-earmarked capital available, would you buy crypto and let it ride for five plus years, or buy miners and let them operate until they failed? [link] [comments]

Should I get into Crypto mining right now? Posted: 27 Dec 2021 11:11 PM PST I am from India. I pay $0.12 per kWh. RTX 3070 costs 1000$ here. I am planning on investing around 10k$. I don't mind losing the money If the upside is worth it. As far as I understand, I can recover my Initial investment in a year, and after that, I earn whatever I invested every year (probably). till my GPUs life is over (5 years maybe?) Did I get it right? Can someone also please tell me about some major potential future risks? [link] [comments]
Dram light on mobo so won’t boot Posted: 27 Dec 2021 06:49 PM PST I have an asus z490 pro with 4gb of one ram stick. My rig has been up and running for 4 days. All of a sudden the DRAM light is on so it won't boot. I have 4 gpus and if i disconnect 2 of them they work. Doesn't matter which two. I have tried to reset with the battery out but nothing works. I'm starting to think it's because i have 4gb of ram only? Any idea what i can do [link] [comments]

Best/Lowest cost 8 to 8 pin (6+2) adapter? Posted: 27 Dec 2021 09:34 PM PST
Posted: 27 Dec 2021 09:06 PM PST Question for you folks that may be a little more savvy than I at trouble shooting rigs. Why won't my rig boot when I add my 10th card? Running asus prime z590-v mobo so it has 2 x16 pcie and 3 x1 pcie. One of the x1 slots doesn't work right so I don't use it. I have two 1x4 splitters and use two of the other three slots just with singular risers. The rig runs like a champ with 9 of my 10 cards hooked up. I can disconnect one of the cards and swap it for the last one and it still runs great. So it's not a bad riser or cable or the gpu itself. Running dual 750W power supplies and they're almost perfectly balanced for the load. Both are pretty close to 80%, but definitely under. When I connect all 10 cards, it goes straight to bios menu and doesn't boot to windows. I saw another similar post which came to the consensus they simply ran out of pcie lanes and needed to disable other things so it would run. So I went into bios and disabled all the extra USB, sata, m2, audio. None of this helped, still straight to bios. My first thought was. Well if I disable the bad pcie slot, that should fix it, but I couldn't find where in the bios to do that. If not that, is there something I'm missing? Or is this mobo simply limited to bring able to handle 9 gpu? Let me know if you have had similar issues or you have any thoughts. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Octominer (x8ultra vs x12 ultra) Posted: 27 Dec 2021 08:49 PM PST Has anyone purchased the x12ultra and opted in for the extra PSU which makes the system run up to 4200w. If so, how much did it cost? [link] [comments]

Does anybody rent a commercial / industrial space here? Posted: 27 Dec 2021 04:59 PM PST I currently have 100k to expand my mining rig. Been thinking back and forth whether to invest or expand, decided just to expand the farm. How much hashrate did you decide to start renting a place? I'm thinking to rent a space and buy more GPUs around 4x from what I currently have right now so total would be 10GH/s Any professional advice would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Indoor Growtent set up for GPU rig Posted: 27 Dec 2021 04:14 PM PST hey all, i recently (today) moved my 8 card rig (5700XT) into a grow tent in one of my spare bedrooms. Previously: the rig was just sitting open in the spare room, i put a dedicated AC unit in the room that exhausts to the outside. Currently: the rig is sitting on a bookshelf in the tent, with the dedicated AC unit inside the tent. The AC unit blows at a steady 72 ° F - (22.22 ° C), the cards are running at a steady 143.6 ° F - (61 ° C). Full breakdown below. - GPU Mem 90 ° C (highest card temp) - GPU Asic 74 ° C (highest card temp) - GPU Edge 62 ° C (highest card temp) The negative air pressure is evident... the tent has big suck vibes... Additionally the idle temp of the room is around 73 ° F. -- My question: - do i need to create additional inflow ports / or can i just keep the tent partially ported via its port screen. - do i need additional exhaust solutions - if you have an example of an ideal set up please let me know :) I plan to add additional rigs into the tent space so i expect the idle temp to increase. Edit: ive opened the screened ports in the tent and avg temp has dropped to 60° C [link] [comments]
Does all the energy translate to heat? Posted: 27 Dec 2021 12:27 AM PST I am wondering if a 1000W mining rig produce the same amount of heat as a 1000W radiator would? If not, how efficient is a mining rig as a source of heat compared to an electric radiator? [link] [comments]
