Might have found my old pc with 12 BTC on it

    Posted: 10 Dec 2021 01:10 AM PST

Around 10-11 years ago, when BTC was still a novelty, i mined it with my pc (those where the days) for a few weeks. Used to have around 12 of em if i recall correctly. Total value at that time was under ten dollar. I lost interest and did not go to the effort to cash out. Don't recall where the PC went, thought it long lost. When the crypto hype really started kicking of around two years ago, i used to joke to friends how i unwittingly threw away a lot of money.

Until last week... when we found a few pc's from that era on my grandma's attic. It is very likely that my pc from back then is one of em. I need to get some legacy hardware (IDE adapters and such) to check the harddrives, so i am not sure yet and wondering if it is worth the effort. Of course... if this BTC is still on that pc or otherwiser recoverable via clues ON that pc... it would be more than worth it to go to great lenghts to recover it.

Problem is, i do not know where to start. I have no idea what software i used for mining, if i used a wallet online or one on the pc... or maybe left it with the pool. Anyone willing to give me some tips on where to start? Most likely i left em in the pool... does that mean it is lost after these years?

No chance to reach 100k this month? I bought at 55k when all the influencers hyped it. Do I just hold and hope for the best. I got greedy and invested all money I have.

With all this fiat inflation I’ve come to learn that money does grow on trees... just not my trees. “Bitcoin doesn’t grow on trees” is a much more appropriate saying.

Lovely people, hold your bitcoin. It’s not a financial advice it’s life advice. We are stronger together. Let’s not give bitcoin to composite mans, let’s keep it for ourselves, for people who really need it! ₿elieve in it, don’t let them manipulate you, and never lose hope!

The blockchain scripting wars are over. Bitcoin has won.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2021 06:09 PM PST

For years, Bitcoin has faced the competitive challenge posed by the Ethereum strategy.

    What is the Ethereum strategy?

A better (Turing complete) blockchain scripting language (such as Solidity) would lead to more innovation in smart contracts.

In the Ethereum strategy, smart contracts are to be implemented as blockchain scripts.

At the same time, we have now discovered that every blockchain script can also be implemented as an off-chain scriptless script.

This new approach is much more scalable and respectful of the user's privacy.

Furthermore -- and that is truly a catastrophe for the Ethereum strategy:

While all blockchain scripts can be implemented as off-chain scriptless scripts, the other way around is not true.

Therefore, the Ethereum strategy now faces the following devastating consideration:

Off-chain scriptless scripts are vastly superior to blockchain scripts.

Extensive blockchain scripting is no longer the way to go, and "better blockchain scripting" is simply pointless. It is now effectively a legacy technology.

Hence, the Ethereum competitive gamble has essentially failed.

Do you ever worry that guys like Micheal Saylor who become Bitcoin whales might manipulate the price of Bitcoin.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2021 10:29 AM PST

They hold such large amounts. By simply selling some they can drop the price and those who are leveraged get stopped out, which drops the price further. Like a cascading effect.

Then the whale just buys even more Bitcoin again and becomes an even bigger whale.

I worry that this is what's happening.

A fun project to backup your seed phrase!

    Posted: 09 Dec 2021 04:19 PM PST

I love crypto and the projects you can do in the name of self custody.

I just made 3D printed guides to assist stamping a seed phrase into metal washers!

This way, I'm upgrading from the written paper seed and will store my phrase on metal washers secured on a bolt!

    Indestructible and discreet.

Projects like this are great fun, especially with the added bonus that your securing your funds and acting as your own bank.

You can never be too cautious with your seed security!

If any one interested in doing this project for themselves, here is a useful guide:
