    Can cards get too cold?

My first rig and many to come! 6x 3060ti. Currently running niceash, is hiveos more profitable with eth and whatnot ?

    3090 quiet cooling options?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 06:06 AM PDT

Howdy fellas/felladies, I've been passively mining with a 1070 for a few months now and it's been grand, and came across a deal for a 10900 system with a 3090FE that I coudln't say no to.

well, when I plug this thing in, the fans ramp to 100% within 60 seconds, and that frankly will not do. this systme sits in my living room and I want it to remain quit. my 1070 was basically silent when it mined, and unless I can get this card to get somewhere close, I'll have to get rid of it and replace it with something quieter.

I know the thermal pad upgrade will lower the vram temps, but it still seems like the fans will be running near full-tilt if I do that. is there an aftermarket liquid cooling setup I could add to this, or even an aftermarket air cooler that will sufficiently keep the temps down with quiet fanspeed?

    thanks in advance!

    1660 Super BIOS Flash Update

    Posted: 04 Nov 2021 04:10 PM PDT

Mining rig won't mine with 12 cards installed (Using splitters). But mines perfectly fine with 11 cards.

How to set up a mining network for office PCs?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 02:41 AM PDT

I've done quite a bit of research for setting up a network, but can't find anything specific to GPU mining, so it might be that I have to set up something like a 'family network' and then set up a host PC to control all of the other PCs. Just wanted to see if anyone else had experience setting something up first though.

Backstory, so I have approximately 30 PCs at our office that after office hours are sitting idle, so I'd like to figure out a way of controlling all of these PCs from my PC and switching a mining application on/off during out of office hours.

I'd imagine I'd need to set up administrator accounts on each PC which is fine, something I needed to do anyways, but it's more about how I could easily control the 30 PCs to turn the software on and off without having to go and do each PC manually.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am pretty tech-savvy, but have never set up a network like this before.

Questions? How do most of you miners pay for the cards monthly plans , credit cards or saving up?

Any idea how to stabilize the power and temp fluctuations on my EVGA 3060 Ti LHR? I'm using latest Nvidia drivers and also latest NBMiner plugin version on NiceHash standard Miner. OS is Windows 10 x64 Pro. PSU Corsair HX 1200 W, OC settings also included.

Radeon software won't boot + low hash rx 580 windows ETH

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 07:25 AM PDT

Hi, I switched from hiveos to windows because my new rx 6xxx card wasn't working and now I have 2 problems.

First one amd software won't open maybe because my cpu is too slow (i3 6100)? I'm using msi after burner instead but I can't play with the voltage of my rx 580 8gb

Second problem, on hiveos my hashrate was 30mhz for my 580 8gb bios flash with all clock at 0 and voltage around 80w and now on windows I only gets around 8 mhz at cc 1200 mc 2000 for 110w🤔

    I3 6100

    16gb RAM

500gb ssd (windows in usb 3.0)

    1000w + 850w

    Rx 480 asus (bios flash)

    Rx 580 saphirre (bios flash)

    Rx 580 saphirre (bios flash)

    Rx 6700 xt powercolor

    Rtx 2080 super asus

    Rtx 3070 gigabytes

    I'm using NbMiner

What are some other memory hard algos like ethash?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 06:46 AM PDT

One thing I like about ethash is that it's memory hard and keeps power consumption low since I can run at minimal core clocks and still get good hash rate. It also lets me stack more cards per power supply. I've found that OCing memory to max only increases power draw by like 3-5W over stock while raising core clocks (without even increasing voltage) from the lowest level raises power draw by 20W or more.

Once the eth devs pull the plug on mining I plan on mining another coin that's memory hard. What are some other GPU algos out there that are memory hard?

What's the hype about HiveOS? Can't people just use normal free Linux?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 02:26 AM PDT

Hi, I'm new to mining and preparing to buy some hardware and plan my mining operation. What's the point in paying money for HiveOS if Linux is for free and all you have to do is starting the mining software on system boot? Is this for windows people without Linux knowledge? Or what are the benefits?

MSI Mystic Light or ICue while mining yay or nay?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 05:03 AM PDT

See bad reviews on other subs for Mystic Light and ICue. Are they really that shit still, will they just bloat system/effect mining?

Have an MSI z490a pro mobo, 2 x Corsair vengeance RAM and a Corsair PSU on a mining only rig. Just wana change the rainbow effect…

PayPal buyer protection for GPU not performing as many MH as advertised

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 04:34 AM PDT

Wondering if anyone has dealt with this problem where they've had a buyer try getting a refund for a GPU as they can't get the hash rate that you claimed. Wondering if PayPal buyer protection would cover them as it does still work for its intended purpose, a GPU

If anyone could give me some insight into this that would be good thanks

    Risers for GTX 3090

    Posted: 05 Nov 2021 03:31 AM PDT

Ive got two 3090 gpus, Asus Strix and Evga FTW Ultra and I cant get my mother board to recognize the card in the riser.

Both cards work and function because Ive tested them each individually and together slotted in the mobo.

Ive tried to change the usb coord, ive checked that there is power to the riser since it has a green light. Its powered via a 6 pin connector. Riser and 2nd gpu are in the 1300 psu.

    Components: Mobo: Asus Crosshair Hero VIII Ryzen 9 - 5950 Gtx 3090 - x2 Evga 1300 & 850 psu Gskill ram UBit Riser PCIE x1 to x16.

Anyone else have a solution to this?

First image consists of a 3080 non LHR, a 2080 super and a 5600xt and HAD a 6900xt in my personal rig ~200-210 Mhs

After getting hooked to mining I now have x4 3090's (bottom rig in second pic) and two 3080's not non LHR, a 2080 super and a 5600xt (top rig) also a 3070ti LHR in my personal rig :) ~730 MHS, Happy days!

Anyone have a utility like afterburner so that I can tweak multiple cards? I have green with envy but it handles one and doesnt give full set up of variables.

My rig! Two towers and a 6gpu open air rig. 781mh/s. Would be more except I got screwed in two Ebay purchases for a 3080 and 3060ti that were supposed to be non lhr. Thoughts? Pointers?
