    GPU Mining NVIDIA Driver Nerfs 3090 FTW3 Hashrate (121 - 55)

    NVIDIA Driver Nerfs 3090 FTW3 Hashrate (121 - 55)

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 06:14 AM PDT

I have an EVGA 3090 FTW3 from 2020 running on Windows trex stable and happy all year long at 121 MH/s.

After installing the new 496.49 driver from NVIDIA my 3090 would not boost clock while mining. Clocks of the core and memory seemed locked. Hashrate was pegged at 55 MH/s down from 121. Disabling P2 power state did nothing, rolling back trex to a much older version did not help, using a different miner did not help...only reinstalling an older version of the NVIDIA driver got me back to 121 MH.

Is NVIDIA attempting to limit the hashrate of NON-LHR cards? This is the first I've seen or heard of a 3090 being nerfed. Any other series cards experience this with the latest driver update? My hashrate was roughly 50% of before. The card was not thermal throttling (VRAM at 60 C), it was hardly being used...

In support of the guy getting flak for stacking his 6800s in an ATX case... Here are stacked 6700XTs plus a bonus 6800 in the drive bay. Top card is 55C (junction).

By how much did the GPU market crash last Bull run?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:06 AM PDT

Everyone keeps talking about how does GPU prices will crash after the crypto mining bull run. People who remember the market or was mining in 2017/18, by how much did prices fall below MSRP? And also there is a chip shortage so would prices probably fall less this time?

So apparently if you stop mining, HiveOn pool just keep your Eth indefinitely.. Use other pools it's not worth the fees saving

    Nerfed 3060 + 3060 Ti LHR

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 08:14 AM PDT

I have the nerfed version of 3060 which can be unlocked with driver 470. 05 to have full hashrate.

But now I just got 3060 Ti LHR and it cannot work on the old driver, so I lose my hashrate if I update the driver 😭

Is there a way to bypass the driver if I want them to work together on the same pc? Or something that can make me use the nerfed card on newer drivers?

Octominer Makes GPU MINERS Life Easy

What if I plug the same HDMI into gpu AND motherboard?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 07:30 AM PDT

I've got a 3060 v1 (hdmi trick to unlock full hashrate). This card works fine when it's plugged into the monitor but I need to take the monitor away for some days when I get back home again. All I know is that the card needs some kind of current on the other end. ( if I unplug the hdmi from screen, it goes to the half hashrate mode) And I was wondering if plugging the screen end of HDMI into the motherboard's hdmi plug would trick the card?

    P.s I'm a noob.

When re-padding thermal to GPUs, remember to add more paste around the copper heat sink area!

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 07:04 AM PDT

Yesterday, my dual GPU mining rig stirred up some controversial discussion because the cards are stacked so close together. Some people refused to believe that it could possibly run at safe temperatures. Here is the video proof for all the physicists and engineers that downvoted!

How much over msrp are you spending for cards?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 04:49 AM PDT

I know msrp would be best but sometimes that just doesn't happen. I've been looking for 3070 and 3070ti and saw some 3070 FE but people are wanting $1000+ for it which is double msrp. Just wanting to know how much you guys are paying over msrp?

    GPU vs Asic

    Posted: 03 Nov 2021 03:37 AM PDT

Just a question would you rather buy a asic miner that gets you $30 usd minus electricity or would you rather get 8 3060 Ti prebuilds that will make atleast $30 dollar profit?Another question I have if anyone knows how a let's say 3060 Ti compares to a new ASIC miner, which one gets outdated first?

On one side asic miners are too expensive and gpu mining is more profitable but on the other hand its easier to to just have one machine and you don't have to keep monitoring your rig. Anyways I'd love to hear any of your guys opinions. Also I don't know how reliable ASIC miners and if one gpu breaks you have another one to cover, you can be fucked if you decide to spend 10k and lose it.

2nd GPU No longer recognized by Windows

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:44 PM PDT

I've tried a lot to get my 2nd GPU running again after changing around my physical configuration. I can't get it to do anything other than have the fans spin for 30 seconds and the lights are all on.

1st gpu is asus rog strix 3090

    2nd gpu is aurous 3080ti

    Here are some details:
    Mobo asus x570 bios 4021 , cpu is ryzen 9 3900x, windows 10 64 bit

current gpu driver is 466.63 and I tried a few others
Power supply is evga 1600w T2

I replaced the packaged USB cables with 3 foot usb to usb off amazon

Using Ubit Risers which say VER SU-103E on them

I don't know if my extra pcie slot is damaged somehow but I tried multiple risers and different drivers and no luck whatsoever. What makes it so frustrating is that it was working fine for so long.

Bios settings have been tried GEN 1 through GEN 3 with 4G Enabled

    Please help! I'm so stuck

Info on the effect of past ASIC releases on mining difficulty on the Ethereum network

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 02:33 PM PDT

Hey y'all, I have a question about how ASIC miner release affects total network hashrate and difficulty and profitability. So while Ethereum doesn't have much time left to mine (unless EIP 4345 passes), the Antminer L7 is coming out soon and it has a hashrate of 9.15 GH/s, and I was wondering where to find pertinent information on the releases of past ASIC miners. While I can find the pages and specs for the actual miners, it's hard to find info about the number sold and the actual impact their release had on the total network hashrate and difficulty and such. Thanks.

Do Thermal Pads and paste have a "break-in period"?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2021 11:00 AM PDT

I changed the pads from the crappy Zotac 3090 pads to Gelid extreme 2mm on the front and back and temps aren't really better or worse. Mining makes vram still hit 110c with around 105-110MH/s and the core temp is ok at around 57-60c. Hotspot temps are usually 17c over the core temp so that's fine. Will these temps get better as the thermal pads and paste sets or have it done it wrong? Is the core temp also supposed to increase if the pad mods were done successfully?
