    Inspect your cables when installing!

It is kinda a habit I am in now, but it is something that is easy to get overlooked.

These are new cables. I was installing new GPUs to a motherboard today and I always give the individual wires a little tug to check the connector quality. When I did this today, I noticed a wire pulled back. So I wiggles the black connector and noticed four of the six wires moved more than normal. When I tugged on each wire, none were crimped into the pin connectors and came right out. I am pretty sure it is just a quality miss, as this is the first cable I found like this out of about 100 so far. But that lottery ticket could have caused a very bad day down the road.

Since I have had some cable meltdowns in the past, I also periodically touch connectors to feel for excessive heat. These meltdowns were on the cheap Chinese 1800w power supplies but get ya in the habit of checking all your cables.

    Nicehash vs Ethermine

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 08:10 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

I've been mining with my radeon 7, 3090 and 6800 xt for a while now on nicehash. Realistically speaking, I've been mining on nicehash for the past 3 years. Recently I started taking mining more seriously and I switched to ethermine with GMINER. However, it seems that im getting payed less than on nicehash. Am I doing something wrong?

What do you guys see as the worst case scenario for mining profits post ETH 2.0?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 08:13 AM PST

I've seen a lot of posts discussing the possibility that mining will sustain a decent amount of its current profits, or only dip in profits short-medium term, but what's the worst case scenario you could see happening? Something like ETH 2.0 happening followed by a bear market?

My experience with Zotac Cards (3060ti) and why I will never buy one again.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2021 08:47 PM PST

So I just wanted to make this sort of a PSA from my experience, but stay away from Zotac 3060 ti cards with hynix memory.

I have recently got back into mining and decided to start to go full out. I currently have 11 cards running right now, 10 3060 ti's in rigs and one 6600 in my PC so far (475 MH/s). It should be 12 3060 ti's but I have had to finally remove two Zotac cards from my rigs. I could only ever get one of the cards stable, and that was if I had only 3 other cards running. If I tried to put a fourth card, I would constantly get errors and rig crashes. No chance putting two on the same board at all. Not only that, but these cards run hot, and even when they are stable they get about 4 MH/s less than my Gigabyte, Auros, or Vision brand cards, and my vision cards have hynix as well but run on the same OC settings as my other cards no problem. OC settings also do not matter, these cards were crashing on stock settings without any overclock. I finally had enough and removed both from my rigs and they are running smoothly, and actually making more now than with those cards because of all the downtime. I'm sure others have had positive experiences with them, but I have not and would recommend to others to steer clear of this headache.

Mining rig crashes to black screen

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 05:09 AM PST

Hey gang, I'm new to mining and was off to a great start, but now after a couple days my rig is crashing and I'm having trouble diagnosing it. Both times it's crashed now the monitor has just been black so I don't have much information on what caused it. Fans and lights still on the mobo and cards so at least still powered on.

Running nbminer, 1660 ti and 3060 ti lhr cards. Just got the 3060 yesterday. Ran great for about a day and a half with just the 1660 and crashed twice now after adding 3060, so seems like the 3060 is the issue but don't want to jump to conclusions.

Did not use -lhr line in the nbminer script, just let it iterate down from 74% until it ran stable and it ran really well for 8+hours yesterday while I was checking it pretty frequently through unmineable.

Didn't mess with clock settings or anything.

Psu 600W, measuring about 335W at the wall with both cards running.

Z590-v mobo with g6400 cpu and 16gb ram

OS is windows 10 installed from a USB boot drive and drivers installed from geforce experience, so should be newest version 496.something I think

Let me know if there's anything else I can provide or if you have any ideas what might be going on.

    Thanks!
