Good morning to everyone who believes ETH 2.0 would be a game-changer Posted: 01 Nov 2021 10:42 PM PDT Parachains, L2s, sidechains are temporary. ETH2.0 is the only solution that is going to be huge [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Nov 2021 07:55 AM PDT The biggest complaint about Ethereum L2s is that you still need to use the bridge on L1, which can be super expensive. However, this is no longer an issue! The Crypto.com app is the first centralized exchange to allow withdrawing directly to Arbitrum, letting you skip L1 all-together. Technically, they added support for a few tokens back in September, however this was somewhat useless, since you couldn't withdraw ETH to pay gas fees. They recently added ETH withdrawals, meaning you can take your ETH to Arbitrum and use any dapp there. https://blog.crypto.com/crypto-com-app-now-supports-transfers-via-arbitrum/ This is what the future of Ethereum looks like: L1 is a settlement layer (similar to Polkadot's relay chain or Cosmos' hub chain), and users will only interact with cheap L2s. How did the "Number Go Up" people Co-Opt Ethereum and what can we do about it? Posted: 02 Nov 2021 01:13 PM PDT At this point r/ethtrader has more than half a million more members than r/ethereum and it appears that all they care about is price. How can a technology as amazing as Ethereum with PoS coming, a massive amount of Dapps, insane scaling technology zk-snarks, rollups and optimism and arbritum et al still not gather as much hype as meaningless market volatility. This is really in my opinion doing damage to the project that we know and love. At this rate in my opinion it's not going to be too long before Ethereum starts being talked about like Bitcoin as a store of value and we shouldn't use it! Like wtf Vitalik and Co built this blockchain to be used and experimented with and to build things that people wouldn't even imagine. I know of course it's being used a lot right now with gas fees this high but I mean even when we move to PoS I imagine still a majority of holders will still be speculators. Is this what we have become? An amazing project with amazing ideas, Dapps and scaling solution, for the only thing people take away is I must buy this asset to protect myself from inflation BS. I don't want Ether to be hoarded, it needs to be used to drive innovation and ideas. Not to be recommended by brain dead asset managers at stupidly rich banks and looked at as a "silver" to bitcoins gold. How has a project with such elite ideals at its outset been turned into this this new "ahahaha I can buy 32 ETH and stake and never work again" like WTF this is totally not something we as a community we should be encouraging and I really hope that although the implementation of EIP 1559 was noble it was entirely stolen by the media as an idea to make ETH ultrasound money. Like NO we the community should be saying we don't care about this inflation BS we don't want to replace BTC we want to make a better future for the world, be the world computer like in Vitalik's original vision not some dumb banker coin that hopes to protect them from inflation or some talking head like Raoul Pal saying pump ETH price or stay poor. Seriously we as a community need to stamp out this rampant price speculation weird incentive structure to only be positive about ETH or IMO it's going to destroy our ethos just like it's destroying bitcoins community right now which is only focused on price. Posted: 02 Nov 2021 07:17 PM PDT Hi guys, I'm fairly new to crypto. Started about a week ago. I've seen ETH trending lately and I have about 10k or so to spare on assets. So far I've invested 100$ into SHIB, and about $450 into ETH. Would it be wise for me to buy a whole ETH right now for about 5.7K CAD and hold onto it. or buy it slowly? [link] [comments]

Buying ETH directly on a Layer 2. Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:52 PM PDT Is it possible to buy ETH directly on a Layer 2 to avoid high gas fees? If so, where? I know that you can buy on layer 1 and then bridge over to L2, but you still have to pay L1 gas to bridge. [link] [comments]

Discovering Starknet was like discovering Ethereum all over again Posted: 01 Nov 2021 11:57 PM PDT I have heard Starkware mentioned every now and again but never really paid any attention to them before recently and now I am falling down the rabbit hole like I did the first time I discovered Ethereum. If you haven't already I greatly encourage you to look deeper into Starkware's technology, there is a reason they have sucked in so many big players. 3k tps executed and proven off chain then verified on chain by a smart contract with on chain data🤯. A great place to start is here: https://link.medium.com/KiiGklOLQkb Also their trustless bridging solution is pretty cool: https://link.medium.com/D4SHyhkMQkb [link] [comments]

Coinbase Pro, Gemeni, or Binance for a total newbie? Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:34 PM PDT Sorry if this gets asked a lot. I'm totally new to investing in crypto, and I want to invest a pretty small lump (~$500) and hold it for a while, because I'm certain eth is only gonna grow from here at least long term. I probably won't be investing much more for a while, I'm mostly doing it to scrape up some neat beer money. Seeing how small of an amount i'm messing with and given how new I am, which app would you guys recommend for me to buy with? [link] [comments]

Can i avoid expensive fees buying and storing ethereum on ledger this way? Posted: 02 Nov 2021 05:16 PM PDT Hi everybody I was wondering if when i buy ethereum through the option buy > buy crypto via Coinify on my ledger live, does this mean that once i buy it, it will store automatically on my wallet or it will be on the exchange and still need to move it paying those fees? If it meant that it goes straight onto my wallet, i wouldnt be paying fees, am i right? Newbie trying to learn, thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Nov 2021 01:30 AM PDT Every day there are multiple posts about ridiculous amount of gas fees to do a simple transfer or swap and it's always related to not having enough ether to process the transaction and therefore MetaMask showing a wrong gas estimation (Yes, gas prices are high and we need a solution, but even with the current fees no one has to pay 800usd in fees to transfer some ERC20). Can the mods add it to the FAQs? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Nov 2021 04:23 PM PDT I'm looking to buy a cold offline wallet to store my crypto. I was looking at the ledger nano with blue tooth. Anyone have any suggestions or pro's / cons of them? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
