GPU Mining Please Read Our Rules!?!?

Please Read Our Rules!?!?

Posted: 21 Oct 2021 06:20 AM PDT

This is ridiculous, I really don't want to remove people's posts but when you start a new post, call it "Miner Won't Start" and give us no more further details other than the name of the miner, we can't help you!

https://www.reddit.com//r/gpumining/wiki/rules

The rules are posted on the sidebar, they're posted in the Wiki, they're posted in the 'new submission' link. The rules have been created by us, the community members, to help us help others.

Thanks folks!

Rule 1: Title
• Be specific with your title. Posts with titles such as "Mining Advice" or "ASUS GTX1070?" will be removed. Please retitle.
Rule 2: ROI
• Asking about general ROI / "Is x Worth It?" posts will be removed unless it hasn't been asked in a while, generally a week or two, at the discretion of moderators.
Rule 3: What To Mine?
• Same as #2 for asking general "What Should I Mine?" See sidebar for links, including profitability calculator(s).
Rule 4: See WIKI First
• Novice troubleshooting questions should first consult the sidebar, notably the many guides and the EtherMining WIKI link first. If your question is easily answered there then your question will be removed.
Rule 5: List Your Specs
• All troubleshooting questions must include your pertinent rig information, including but not limited to these 7 factors: GPU, mobo, PSU, OS, risers, mining software, overclocking specs.
Rule 6: Selling
Rule 7: Simple Questions
• See Simple Questions Thread. Do not just post a list of components asking for suggestions. Do not just give a budget asking for suggestions.
Rule 8: Shilling
• If you are promoting a certain website, coin, pool, etc and have affiliation with that product, please disclose it. You will otherwise be banned for supposed shilling at the discretion of moderators.
Rule 9: Hand-Holding
• Please do your own legwork before looking for handouts. We are a helpful community but are not the place for hand-holding new miners through every step of the process. See the multitude of intro guides for that. Similarly, simple questions belong in the "Simple Questions" monthly thread.
Rule 10: Trolls
• As always, keep posts professional, civil and relevant. Extensive trolling, profanities and trash posts will not be tolerated.

PSA from my electrician buddy- flipping breakers with rigs is dangerous.

Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:33 PM PDT

So this may be common sense to most of you, but for the sake of maybe saving one of you- if you ever shut off your main breaker in your house, secure ALL of your secondary breakers prior to flipping your main back on. Then go ahead and flip your secondary breakers on one by one. Flipping your main on with your secondary breakers on causes extreme power surges and can fry rigs even through GFCI plugs.

He got super technical and I stopped listening, but basically one of his employees fried a client's multi-rig farm last week by doing this. It would also seem smart to disconnect your rig prior to flipping breakers too.

My only bit of doubt into this would be that power outages seem effectively the same, but electrician buddy started going on about the width of his pulsing member or something and I, again, stopped paying attention.

Are there any Coins that can be mined that benefit from having a lot of RAM? (256GB)

The Only Coin I could think of it Chia but that isn't profitable at all.

HiveOS Octominer - missing Octofan setting

Posted: 29 Oct 2021 06:18 AM PDT

Hey all,

I have a x12 xtreme Octominer and use HiveOS to run it. Normally there is a settings option at the top of the HiveOS portal under the specific worker that says 'Octofan', and you can change the case fan speed in here. However, currently most of the settings options are there except this one.

I assume the portal is not picking up that the worker is not an Octominer and thus does not have the setting available. Any help is appreciated!

(upgrading and downgrading the OS does not fix it)

Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:44 AM PDT

We've added Ravencoin (RVN) to our kawpow pool.

We've spent a long time getting this algo integrated and working properly! We hope you find the pool stable and works efficiently. Any problems, let us know.

- Sample configurations -

To mine and get paid in RVN: -a kawpow -o stratum+tcp://kawpow.mine.zpool.ca:3125 -u RVN_ADDRESS -p c=RVN

Exchange to BTC: -a kawpow -o stratum+tcp://kawpow.mine.zpool.ca:3125 -u BTC_ADDRESS -p c=BTC

Exchange to BTC but mine only RVN:
-a kawpow -o stratum+tcp://kawpow.mine.zpool.ca:1325 -u BTC_ADDRESS -p c=BTC,zap=RVN
Best power monitor for high wattage? (around 2000-2500 watts full load)

Posted: 28 Oct 2021 02:49 PM PDT

Dear GPUMining,

I've got a rig with 2x 3090 and a 1600w PSU that between an OC'd 5950x and peripherals I think can easily generate around 2000w if everything is cranking flat out. I want to get a Kill-a-watt to attempt to estimate the "cost" of my rig and monitor over time, but I'm not sure if a single outlet Kill-a-watt P4460 can handle the full draw. Any ideas if this is the best unit or are there better units like the Reed that maybe would do a better job?

thanks,

Michael

Team Red Miner vs Team Black?

Posted: 28 Oct 2021 05:11 AM PDT

Im running HiveOS on my 5x AMD rig(3x 470 4GB, 2x 460/560 4GB) and have been using TRM to mine RVN for several months now, averaging 38-43 MH/s. Based on recent updates Hive now supports Team Black miner, which I'd never really heard of til now. Aside from Nvidia support, what are the main differences? Tried to find the answer but came up short. Trying to decide if it's worth switching.

Load Average Increases as soon as I change OC Settings

Posted: 28 Oct 2021 06:46 AM PDT

Miner Information

OS: HiveOS

GPU: 2x 3060Ti LHR

Hi All,

I am trying to change the OC settings of my 3060Ti LHR (GPU 1, Zotac, Hynix) card, details in the link, to be the same as my other 3060Ti LHR (GPU 0, EVGA, Samsung), but as soon as I change the settings, the load average increases dramatically and I get an error stating "GPU Driver Error, No Temps" and I will have to set the OC settings back to the stable one I have right now.

Mainly trying to understand why this happens and how I can tackle this problem. This event happens on both T-rex and NBMiner.
