- I was looking for this bad boy since I've sold my Vega56 last year right before the VGA market skyrocketed (sold mine for approx 275$, next week it was 900$) and wasn't able to get1 around the price. So he'll end up mining for 4 month, near 2 rx580. Cleaning, thermal elements change, and fire it up.

Blew up my DPS 1200FB A Server PSU. Posted: 30 Oct 2021 05:27 AM PDT Stupid really, over powered it in a hurry and it just went "poof", The thing that makes this worse it that im a electritian (hush) But does anyone here really know what part that goes boom in these powersupplies? I've screwed it apart, it still does turn on tho but gives no power to the 12V rails, this is more gonna be a "last effort! try to figure out which piece i could change or if i even should bother trying to fix it. i have a 750w server PSU i plan to remove the solder on the broken PSU, and solder some cables from the 750w one over to the plate i remove from the 1200w one and connect a breakoutboard. And no, i dont suggest others doing this unless you know what you are doing. [link] [comments]

How many watts will I need to power a 4x3090 mining rig? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 07:47 AM PDT Hey all, I am in the process of building a mining rig consisting of 4x3090s. Currently I have a 800w gold psu with 4 pcie 8 pin cables. The gpus are 3x8 pin. I know I can power a single riser and gpu with this psu. However, if I get a 1200w hp server psu, will that be enough to power 3x3090s at 330w? If not what will I need in order to power these gpus? Thanks [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Oct 2021 01:29 AM PDT Hi all! I faced such a problem: Ethereum production was 0.13 per week through hiveon, after hiveos was updated to the new version, it began to show that the profit per week is now 0.077 eth ... what do you think is due to the update? I mine from 728 mh on ethereum and whattomine shows that I should mine 0.013 eth per day. I use lolminer (which I also updated yesterday to a new version) [link] [comments]

Breakout board w/ inverted 6-pin power slot = Blown capacitor on Riser Posted: 29 Oct 2021 11:52 PM PDT So the breakout board itself was actually working great while only at half-capacity. When I went to get more risers up and connected, I didn't notice that J16 was installed backwards. When I booted up with a GPU in the riser, the whole breakout board wouldn't power on. While troubleshooting, I took out the GPU and tried to boot with less PCIE cables connected to the board, and when I went to try to power on again, the empty riser's capacitor made a super loud pop and blew. Thankfully nothing bad happened while the GPU was installed or else I'd be out a larger chunk of change, but a reminder to double-check that all of the slots are correctly installed in the correct direction. QA dropped the ball on this board. [link] [comments]
Rig doesnt boot with more than 2 GPU Posted: 30 Oct 2021 05:45 AM PDT I started my first rig up out of a dell G5 PC, over last few months ive added more cards using a 4x1 splitter (3060ti, 3060v1, 3x 2070s). Today, i go to add an additional 2070 super to my dell rig, and it just doesnt boot up after i connect the new card. Motherboard powers on, fans spin, everything looks normal but no display output and seemingly no activity or diagnostic led. (This makes no sense to me but i was willing to accept that the mobo might have been shot somehow.) Got a ASUS H570-PLUS board, stuck the CPU (i7-10700f) and 8gb ram from that dell PC into new mobo, they both recognize and bootup. I plug my 3060v1 into the 16x slot, and wire up the rest of my cards on 1x risers in the remaining slots. Power the mobo, no post no splashscreen. i trial and error for a couple of hours and determine that i can only connect 2 GPUs and have the PC POST. Ive read pretty much every thread i can find about it, tried everything
Im kinda out of ideas and havent really found any new troubleshooting steps. Anyone got any suggestions? Pretty frustrating day I've had... Not sure if this is just a problem with this motherboard? [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Oct 2021 10:40 PM PDT Hi everyone, I am having trouble mining ergo. I have an rtx 3080 ti running in nbminer in its latest version. I have tried various overclock combinations in msi afterburner but none work. If I lock the gpu clock I get perma lhr lock (lock 1 detected, lock 2 detected, lock 3 detected,...) and if I dont lock the gpu clock I get 200M hashrate max (+1800 memory clock). I hope anyone can help me. Thx. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Oct 2021 08:12 PM PDT Hey Yall, I have a Asus Phonenix RTX 3060 (LHR). However I booted up Nicehash and saw I was getting 38.5MH/s so looks like LHR was fixed somehow. Can anyone recommend overclock settings ? Thank you in Advance. [link] [comments]
Mining on large generator power Posted: 29 Oct 2021 07:29 PM PDT So i posted in a Facebook gpu mining group, but left out a few details, and didn't get any good advice. I understand my situation is unique and i may not get any good info here, but as my end goal is a small mining setup, i feel this is the best place to ask vs posting in a pc building group... What i failed to mention in that post was that the generator i will be getting power from is a large permanent generator, unsure of kw power output or whatever, but it powers a large 8 bay shop, an office and 2 bunkhouses. We have office computers that run fine, although they do have upc. They are just for internet access and email though, nothing intensive. I guess specifically im wondering if there are any concerns regarding the gpu if i were to get a upc. I think i saw in another post that the danger with generator power is more with the psu. I'm planning on getting a upc and taking an old pc in storage to test it out, and then maybe get a better gpu if nothing gets fried. And without revealing too many details, i am not paying for fuel or power, essentially i have a free power source. And there are no rules against having a computer in my room, so i just want to explore the possibility. I'm not looking to make a massive mining farm; if the test pc doesn't get fried, I'd consider setting up 1 dedicated rig, but not really anything more than that. Im basically just throwing a few bucks a month at this project as I'm just learning. Not looking to make a living, just as a hobby and to feel like im contributing in someway, and maybe stack some crypto to hodl for the long haul. [link] [comments]
Build rigs using 3090 or 3070ti? Posted: 29 Oct 2021 10:47 PM PDT Assuming you are able to get 3090 and 3070ti at msrp, is it better to build gpu rigs using 3090 cards or using 3070ti cards? Considering hash/watt, ROI period, resale value, life after ETH goes POs, and other factors that is important to you. [link] [comments]
ASUS Phoenix RTX 3060 single fan low hash rate Posted: 29 Oct 2021 10:33 PM PDT I just got an ASUS Phoenix RTX 3060 single fan and I am only getting 27 MH/s. My 1080tis get 40+ I noticed that the mt -4 setting doesn't work for it. I have my core at -500 and mem at 1400 like I have seen other posts but I am still getting low hash rate. 27 is the best I have gotten it to. Any reason why I cannot get the speed up to the 1080tis? rtx 3080ti and rtx 3070ti on same motherboard problem (3070ti not showing anymore) Posted: 29 Oct 2021 09:43 PM PDT I bought my 3070ti few weeks ago It was mining fine at 70% power limit. Yesterday I bought an 3080ti and installed it's driver (from it's website). Now device manager only shows 3080ti. I replaced my risers and I am sure riser is not the problem. [link] [comments]
M1 Max (Very Rough) Mh/W Metric Posted: 29 Oct 2021 09:54 AM PDT I've been using the hastily ported ethminer-m1 (not m1 or m1 max optimized, just basically ported to build and run) on the new M1 Max (fully maxed out config) Apple MacBook Pro 16". No, I am not trying to turn a profit and won't use it for mining regularly. I am just trying to get a good understanding of how it stacks up for my own curiosity. There are many differences in intent, design, target market, etc between this SoC (and its GPU cores) and discrete PCI cards used for mining, yes. Running ethminer-m1 I get consistently 10.25 Mh/S whether on battery, mains, whatever. Looking at powermetrics output for GPU, CPU, and SoC (Package) power use while at "idle" (keeping all other things as constant as possible) and while running ethminer-m1 (after a few min to get the system heat up and let fans start to kick in, etc well after the DAG is loaded and cores have been working a bit) I am seeing about a 19.4W difference in total package use (mostly all in the GPU, as one would expect). Works out to about 0.528 Mh/W. Super rough as per-process power use is a bit tough to measure on Mac OS X and an SoC in general...but definitely puts it in a very competitive stance (if not almost leading?) with the traditional GPU-based mining crowd (and ethminer-m1 is not really M1 optimized let alone M1 Max optimized). Thoughts on ways to better test are welcome and input on methodology, etc is very welcome! [link] [comments] |
