Here's how the BTC solution stack PEELS AWAY all features that makes Bitcoin exciting.

    Posted: 28 Sep 2021 05:25 AM PDT

The Bitcoin project was created to allow people to transact:

    • Cheaply and quickly
    • Permissionlessly
    • And borderlessly via sound money principles

Each layer of the BTC solution stack peel away these features 1-by-1 until what's left is a bastard of a project.

    1. BTC L1: Removes cheap and fast feature via small blocks & unsafe 0-Conf.
    2. BTC L2 (LN): Removes permissionlessness feature. Opening channel requires permission of other party. Liquidity requirements means people will gravitate to BigNodes. BigNodes can therefore censor those not politically aligned.
    3. BTC L3 (eg Strike): Removes borderlessness and sound money principle. L3 is a centralized KYC'ed honeypot. You can only transact in regions they allow. Audits of BTC locked up in LN will be up to their discretion. Nothing is stopping them to credit more BTC then they have in their reserve. They're reinventing FIAT.

And there you have it. The BTC solution via layered and tiered strategy have removed all features that makes Bitcoin Bitcoin.

    Fuck Blockstream.

How to make money on Bitcoins if you are not a trader?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2021 03:09 AM PDT

Hello everybody! Are there any alternative ways to make money on Bitcoins? I mean, can you recommend something apart from trading and mining? I know that both methods can bring some income. But, for me, it's too risky, and I'm a kinda risk-averse person.

I'm writing in this subreddit because I've recently run into some info about Bitcoin faucets. Basically, I've run into a website offering the best crypto faucets. The process itself seems pretty straightforward. You just watch ads, and they pay you some cryptos. Looks pretty easy, huh? But I never heard of people making money by using this method. I do realize that people cannot become billionaires by simply watching ads. Still, how much money can you make by using this method? Can you make at least 500$ per month on it?

I know that many of you would say that trading can help make more money than faucets or even mining. I don't doubt that many people made trading their full-time job. I've tried myself in trading. But, luckily for me, I've realized too soon that this method of making money is just not for me. I'm not saying that this method is terrible. Indeed, many people are making a fortune.

Still, trading is not suitable for me. I've learned different trading techniques in various courses. Found some books and video tutorials about trading. I've dedicated almost all my time to master other techniques and looking for some tips. But still, it's hard for me to sense the crypto market and predict the perfect moment when to sell the currency to make some profit on it. Theoretically, it does seem easy, but in practice, this market is just way too unpredictable. Maybe it's just based on luck, or perhaps mother nature didn't give me this extraordinary talent. I even tried the cost-averaging technique for myself. But all my attempts were unsuccessful.

Would you use a service like XMR.to for BCH?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2021 04:45 PM PDT

For over a year been working on an XMR.to clone, a site that only converts between BCH and XMR.

Put a ton of time/money into it but am getting kind of burnt out and questioning even if it's a service wanted by BCH users.

It would be limited to users outside the US but just have a check box agreement the user most click but no other KYC (may have to "improve").

Also, it's nothing sites like sideshift.ai cant do, just a simple and slightly cheaper version.

The Bitcoin Moral Panic (An article on a site that has apparently been shadow banned)

Sorry for not posting a direct link. Apparently Read-dot-cash links have been shadow banned across Reddit. My previous attempt to post this seems to have been trapped by this new policy.

I believe it's only links in full URL format that get banned, so hopefully you can get there without too much trouble by putting this link in your browser:

No CashFusion transactions for a couple of days - why?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2021 05:44 PM PDT

Just looking at this page: https://fusionstats.redteam.cash/

It looks like there have been no CashFusion transactions for a couple of days now. Looking back, I see that there are typically a few every hour. Does anyone know of a reason for the sudden halt? I can't imagine that all the liquidity went offline at once.

EDIT: On closer inspection, I can see that fusions are running for me locally. They just aren't completing. They are getting stopped out due to inactivity or covert submissions being too slow. Maybe it's just a run of bad luck. I suppose there's technically the possibility that someone is trying to DoS the system by joining lots of sessions backing out. At any rate, the system as a whole is working and a session should eventually succeed. Thanks everybody for the responses. Sorry to u/Rucknium for the misunderstanding about the stats on the website.

Will wallets run by companies ever do CashFusion in the reasonable near term (1 year)?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2021 03:26 PM PDT

    It seems not.

Seems that only really free software projects will have cojones to provide the degree of financial privacy that users will expect from a cryptocurrency. I suspect this has as a reason the legal risks due to regulations.

That's my working theory, I am looking for counterexamples - CashFusion implementations that are actually in development and making headway.

Mixing on SmartBCH (e.g with Tornado) could be a future option, but users should take into account the relative transaction costs (which are at least one order of magnitude lower on BCH).

Technical Question about LN...(not enough room to ask in this post header)

    Posted: 27 Sep 2021 12:13 PM PDT

So lets say we have channels between (A,B) (B,C) (C,D).

    A <------> B <------> C <------> D

And lets say B wants to send their "beads" to D.

How does D know those beads weren't spent already spent with A ??

The introduction of the LN whitepaper talks about how bitcoin is a "gossip" network - that everyone must know about every other transaction. And this is true.

So if D does not have the full history of all transactions, then how does it trust that B didn't spend with A already ??

And lets add the caveat that A,B, and C all want to defraud D.
