BTC sent in USD suddenly moves from $18 billion -> $317 billion overnight on no news?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 06:15 PM PDT

Yesterday BTC did about $18 billion in USD sent, and today it did a whopping $317 billion, more than 16x overnight increase and 3x its previous ATH. There was no corresponding move in BCH on the same metric as has been seen with previous surges.

BTC price is slightly down, crypto overall a bit down.

Any theories or ideas why? Huge whales buying in or selling out? Will we be seeing a big announcement about crypto from a major government or corporation?

As you can see none of the links work at all. But if you select your wallet it asks for your seed words.

Tried to send .5 SEP20 BCH from Coinflex to Metamask, now it's gone

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 01:24 PM PDT

I was following the instructions here:

    https://read.cash/@MoreGainStrategies/the-ultimate-guide-to-smartbch-for-newbies-3e43cdb0

I successfully went through all the steps once. I sent 1BCH to CoinFlex, withdrew as an SEP20 token to Metamask, converted to EBEN. Then I tried to "Add Liquidity" and it told me I had an insufficient BCH balance. I really don't understand the liquidity tokens. I guessed that it was a mistake to convert all the BCH to EBEN, so I tried to convert some back, but Benswap kept giving me errors.

So I tried to send another .5 BCH to Metamask, following the exact same steps as before, withdrawing SEP20 token from CoinFlex to the same MM address I used the first time.

Now the .5 BCH is gone. CoinFlex shows it as successfully withdrawn, but Metamask doesn't show it. It's been over an hour. I tried to view the transaction, and I get a 502 Error:

I am glad I didn't send more funds. I consider myself relatively tech-savy, but this whole thing is REALLY confusing, and I am unlikely to ever touch it again.

Any ideas how I can locate my .5 BCH?

UPDATE: The funds finally appeared. I just had to wait. Another day in the world of crypto :) Thank you everyone for your replies and encouragement.

It's Fusion Friday! Maintain your financial privacy with CashFusion =)

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 09:22 AM PDT

CashFusion helps keep your transactions private. Your finances are your business, and no one else's!

Over 6 Million Bitcoin Cash has already been made private using this innovative, non-custodial mixing protocol.

    https://stats.cash/#/fusion

    https://fusionstats.redteam.cash/

You can "Fuse" all week for a few cents in fees if you want. This post is just a weekly reminder.

New to CashFusion? No problem, getting set up is pretty easy =)

First, download the Electron Cash desktop wallet. It's got CashFusion built in.

Set up your wallet, send it some Bitcoin Cash, and then activate CashFusion by clicking the icon in the lower right: https://i.imgur.com/DXEPLtf.png

Once it's activated, your wallet will start "fusing" the Bitcoin Cash it contains. That is, it will start mixing your coins with other CashFusion users. This happens automatically in the background once CashFusion is enabled.

"Fusions" happen over time as their own transactions, only costing you the network transactions fees. (Usually less than a US cent.) Each fusion transaction will include some of your coins*, so it will often take multiple fusion transactions before all the coins in your wallet are fused. Check "spend only fused coins" on the send tab if you want Electron Cash to prevent you from sending funds that haven't been made private yet.

Electron Cash can keep fusing your coins forever, or it can aim for a certain number of fusions for each of your coins. Toggle this setting and choose the target number of fusions by right clicking the Fusion icon and then choosing "CashFusion Wallet Settings".

Here's the CashFusion Telegram group where you are welcome to ask questions. (Just remember to be courteous!)

    Happy Fusing!! <3

*"Coins" are kind of a confusing concept when it comes to Bitcoin, but you can think of them just like discrete "bills" (or... "coins") in your wallet, but instead of coming in only certain sizes like $1, $5, $10, $20, etc, they can be any amount sent to you in a previous transaction, like 0.618 BCH, 0.000001 BCH, or 123.45679 BCH. (They can also be combined and split up. That happens in most transactions!)

Why should people use BCH instead of BTC LN?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 11:53 PM PDT

Main pro of BCH are low transaction fees, correct?

Now that BTC LN is deployed, that argument is no longer sound. So why should merchants use BCH instead of LN? I am ready to hear arguments. Thank you!

    Lightning Network - Custodial?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2021 04:57 AM PDT

Excuse my ignorance. I'm trying to more deeply understand the scaling solutions proposed by the various crypto projects.

My superficial understanding of the LN is that you and the party you are trying to pay will sign transactions with your private keys, but not broadcast them to the main chain. You would batch as many transactions as you would like, and then finally close the channel by committing the net transaction to the blockchain.

If this is the case, how is LN custodial? Suppose I open a lightning channel with my local coffee shop and pay for a coffee by signing a LN transaction. The coffee shop can rest assured that the funds will be released, and I can close the channel anytime I like and the unspent funds are returned to me. Where does the trust come in?

This seems reasonable enough to me. Can somebody explain why LN is a bad way to scale? Thanks for the help, r/btc.
