Looking for suggestions and insight for my build and setup

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 12:34 AM PDT

I am currently running a 3070 on my gaming PC (non LHR) pulling 60 Mh, and I got a computer downstairs with a rx 580 and 1660 non super non-ti pulling together about 51 Mh.

That's all fine and dandy but I just got myself a 3060 Ti and found out about this LHR thing. Won the shuffle finally. But man o man was I sad to find out about the LHR =[.

Anywho I was thinking about putting the 3060 Ti into my PC but then it would probably be minign RVN or ERGO which in that case can I have that computer mine 2 different coins?

In general, what should I do? I can flip this card for a profit since it is unopened and sealed, or I can mine with it? But I believe in the future of GPU mining!

Will GPU mining never end? Will we always find a new coin to mine?

Really, there isn't a fan on the market, that goes exactly on the chip space, for cooling down the vram temperature of the 3080 GPUs?

I mean a fan like the fans that exactly fit on the CPU.

people who have in the past mined with gpus at over 90 degrees for a long period of time, how long did your gpus last at that temperature?

is it still alive? what gpu and how did it get damaged?

Should I mine directly to my Ledger Nano X or BlockFi account?

New, plan to start mining soon. How do I not burn down my house with a 3kw PSU?

I'm planning on making a 3000w 8x 3090 rig, and don't want to burn down my shed. How do I not burn down my house?

Is it right to calculate ROI of a card based on full rig and not per gpu profit?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 04:04 AM PDT

Like let's say there's an 1000$ gpu that makes 2$ per day

The gpu will pay itself by 500 days, but a rig that does 10$ per day will roi it by 100 days and I calculate it like that.

Is this a good way to look at stuff or I'm missing something?

    Trouble with graphics cards

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 02:52 AM PDT

So I've been mining for about 6 months with my 2 gigabyte GTX 1070 cards and they've been doing great. Three months ago I had to leave on a long business trip. During that time I kept my computer mining. About 2 months into my trip I see that my computer stopped mining ant the temp was reading about 80 C. While I was away I had my girlfriend reboot the system and it started mining again. Temp was still high and my girlfriend said the fans were making a weird noise. I just got back from my trip and the fans are stuttering and the fan stop light was on for the top card. I've shut down the system but I really have no idea on how to troubleshoot this issue. I don't think it's dust because I keep my place clean and I don't have pets, but I don't know what is causing the fans to malfunction. Should I try to reseat the cards or could there be a bigger issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Need a hand diagnosing why my rig keeps crashing

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 02:06 AM PDT

So after about 15 to 30 minutes of running (sometimes sooner) one of my older rigs is now starting to crash. The screen goes black but it doesn't give a no signal message as if it was on but not plugged in. The rig goes offline but everything else appears as if it's on besides the screen. I tried a bunch of things like trying to run only a single GPU at a time, I reset bios, I reseeded all the connectors. It seems to always do the same thing. Nothing I'm trying is working and I'm sort of at a loss on what to try next. I'm not sure what else to do at this point. It's been running without a hitch for a few years. Anyone know what would cause this?

Trex and 1080 ftw hybrid card, odd spikes to GH/sec at times, crashes, defaults?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 01:57 PM PDT

I have a 1080 on a riser card on a single pc (along with a 1080ti on the same machine). The 1080ti is in the normal 16x slot. (I also had this issue when i had the 1080 on my dedicated mining rig, though now its on a different but same model riser card).

The riser card is the one by Flanney on amazon VER009S PCI-E Riser Card PCIe 1x to 16x USB 3.0 Data Cable Bitcoin Mining (1) (the link is now dead for some reason)

I cant get about 32.5 MH/sec with the 1080 (on either machine). I've tried mt1 through 6, usually go beyond 3 and it crashes sooner. I use i 22, mt1 as of now. I do not have absolute overclocking set (so none), i have tried to set oc but run into issues if i go beyond 40 on clock and 30-40 on memory (yeah 30 not 300, its awful).

I have to set PL to 120 to be able to even get the watts to 138 or so.

What will happen is suddenly ethermine pool stats for this worker will show say 2-3 GH/sec suddenly, usually a day later. If i dont intervene the pc will crash.

Anyone ran into this GH/sec thing, or having a 1080 that just cant OC at all?

    Thanks in advance

    Is 1070 affected by LHR?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 10:52 PM PDT

I fired up Claymore on my 1070 after been out of the mining game for a couple of years.

I believe i used to get 25-30 MH/s on ETH but now i'm hardstuck at 22 MH/s regardless of mem clock.

Is this Nvidia throttling my card?

    Rig Monitor

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 10:44 PM PDT

Sorry to bother you, but I am looking for a small display to attach to my rigs. Currently I am moving my 32" around if something has issues with booting or so, so I wondered what you guys are using?

    Thanks a dozen

$3.40 Mining Ethereum On 3070 - Is This Normal?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 10:03 PM PDT

    Specs/Software:

    - RTX 3070 (-250 Core Clock, +1700 Memory Clock using MSI Afterburner)

    - PhoenixMiner (I'm not sure which algorithm, I'm using the default one that PhoenixMiner uses)

    - Ethermine

    - 50 MH/s

Is this normal for mining on a RTX 3070?

    Repairing bricked 56

I'm trying to repair my 5600XT that got bricked a few days but it won't show up in ATIFlash. At first, my screen was completely black so I used the 1+8 pin method to get it to post. Then I opened ATIFlash and used list but my GPU wouldn't show up. Can anyone help

Can adding almost 2lb copper heatsink to my already sagging 3090 break it off the motherbaord?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 11:40 AM PDT

Directly under it is another 3090 (yes they touch), think this will break it off the mother board? I should have gotten aluminum heatsinks in hindsight.
