So you want to unlock your 30 series Nvidia LHR cards... I think we just broke Nvidia's limiter.

TLDR: So essentially, Nvidia has come up with a solution that allows cards to distinguish between gaming and mining workloads.

    Our solution:

Well, let's mix it up shall we?

Step 0: Start mining with your default settings.

Step 1: Download https://pokemmo.eu/downloads/windows/ (note, we play the game so all the roms are installed on the PC, if you want the roms, then let me know, since I'm not sure if having the roms has any impact)

(Also, reason for picking this particular game is because it has an almost 0 GPU load since it's essentially a bunch of GBA games from the GBA/NDS era, feel free to try other games too!)

Step 2: Run it. ( you don't have to play the game)

Step 3: Turn off your monitor

Results: ERGO hashrate went up from 77 MH/s to 115 MH/s

OC settings: -200 core, 1200 mem, 65% power limit, 75% Fan speed

    Driver : 471.68

As you can see, the application needs to be in the foreground, not the background. (Eth testing will be done in a while)

Edit 2: THIS DOES NOT WORK ON ETH (Sorry guys, I hoped it would)

    Also disclaimer:

not trying to shill the game, if you have any other games with a lower load on your GPU, try it and feel free to post results. We also noticed the Hashrate to hang around 80-90 MH/s when playing League of Legends, albeit a bit more demanding.

Currently tested on ERGO, with only a single LHR v2 3060 card using TREX miner. Cannot confirm for multiple card setups/ other coins/miner configs. Would appreciate if community could start gathering more results.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A more In-depth explanation with backstory:

So a friend of mine ordered a pre-built zotac gaming pc with ships with a LHR V2 3060. We wanted to try mining part-time when not gaming on the setup.

We were getting around 30 MH/s on ETH and 77 MH/s on ERG.

We also could not install the 470.05 dev drivers. I'm not sure why but I was curious how the card would perform if we ran a low-load game like Pokemon on it, was wondering if it could still figure if we were mining or actually playing a game.

The basis of the test was to see if Nvidia can hardcode what exactly constitutes and game and what doesn't.

So yeah, just wanted to test that theory out and voila.. we ran pokemon on the PC and to our un-believable surprise, the card was unlocked and daily profits went up by like 60%.

To expand on this, I believe that this discovery could be the basis to completely unlocking LHR cards by tricking them into believing that they are running a gaming workload.

If you feel this post helped you, would really appreciate any tips!

    Edit 3:

PS. The only Setup I can confirm this works for is the one I've mentioned in the above post.

I cannot test if this might work for other cards as I do not have access to them, for me even this small breakthrough is a big deal since it shows that there is at least some sort of Leeway with the cards that was unknown before.

You will have to test if this works for your particular setup, I will try to figure out if there is something unique about the way I am running everything and provide further info in the next few days.

If it does work for you, please do comment and provide information so that others may figure out how to replicate results. All the best!

Has anyone mined with a NVIDIA Quadro P5000? I have one available that I can use, but can't find anyone actually using it to mine.

Adding a new GPU to any rig feels amazing😋

I'm sure we can all agree that any change/addition to one's rig really feels amazing. This hobby is unique and honestly feels like it can never stop 😂 Happy mining and greetings from Chicago :)

    Running at 288.3 MH/s, All under 50C

Newest addition is the RTX 3070 paid $675, would love to hear your thoughts/questions

Troubleshooting - 2nd PSU turning off at random?

    Posted: 24 Aug 2021 03:00 AM PDT

Firstly thank you to anyone taking the time to read/reply!
I've just built my first rig to test out before i go all in!
    The rig consists of:
    Biostar TB250 BTC Pro, 4 x RTX 3070 TI, 16GB corsair ram, 480gb sandisk ssd, 2x Corsair HX1200 PSU's
(and 4 risers) - running on HiveOS, mining RVN, (OC - Fan: 100 Core: 100 Mem: 2000 Power:230)

Each PSU Powers 2 risers (split off 1 PCIe cable) and 2 GPU's (2 PCIe cables each)

The second PSU (only 2 gpu's and risers) seems to be turning off at random, after 2-9 hours but will turn back on as soon as i restart the rig with no issues, i'm monitoring the power drain at the plug and i'm well within the 80% limit!,

So for i've attempted to unplug a GPU and see if it still has an issue, which it does, the only thing i haven't swapped out are the risers - am i safe to say after that test its a faulty PSU or could this be an overclock issue?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

(not sure if its important but i'm using a 24-Pin ATX Dual PSU Power Supply Splitter Adapter cable instead of the safety pin trick)

    Thanks in advance!

What are the advantages of hivOS over other softwares and why does everyone use it ?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2021 01:47 PM PDT

I was wondering why does majority of gpu miners use hiveOS? Minerstat looks amazing and windows is super easy so what are the benefits of hiveOS?

    Broken GPU dice resistor

    Broken GPU dice resistor

I accidentally broke off a resistor on my GTX 1080 while removing the dried out thermal paste.
What can I do? Can I run the whole thing without? Should i short it with some solder?

The resistor flew across the room, so i don't have it anymore.
