To all American investors, We all genuinely feel sorry for you.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 04:05 PM PDT

It's world known that the U.S government is one of the most powerful and questionable governments in the world and they squeeze the U.S citizens for every cent that they can, and if you so happen to find a way around that chokehold they have on you, they just implement even worse laws to regain control of your assets.

We onlook from our own countries hoping that you muster enough votes to stand against these destructive laws and keep your rights as investors and crypto traders.

The Crypto world is feeling your pain and we stand with you against the "big brother" tyranny of your government. Stay strong and work hard against these chains they want to put around your digital assets.

Lots of love and tendies from across the pond ❤

Edit - To clarify, this isn't a "high horse post" because believe me, my government isn't any better. This is a post to tell the American investors that we stand with you and watch in anticipation, we disagree that your government is trying to violate your rights as investors and we understand that the standards that they set will surely effect the rest of the world. Remember your money, your choices.

Even more love and tendies coming your way America ❤

Coinbase created a page that automatically generates an email to send to your senator to vote YES on the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey amendment and NO on the Warner-Portman amendment

ETH just completed a history-making 16 green candles in 17 days and now is going for 17 in 18 days. This has never happened before!

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 11:06 PM PDT

We just had the history-making 13 green candles in a row for ETH until it broke at day 14. Many thought ETH would "sell the news" on the London hard fork upgrade which included EIP-1559. However, ETH had other plans and has been rallying before and after the hard fork. With the ETH burning in full swing it seems to be accelerating the rally!

Yesterday, ETH completed 16 green candles in 17 days and now is going for 17 in 18 days today. This has also never happened before in it's 6 year history. I actually can't think of any $200B+ asset that has had such a relentless continuous rally before. I recommend opening up the ETH daily chart and looking at this sea of unstoppable green, it's a thing of beauty. During this incredible run ETH has gone from $1,706 and now is at $2,963 representing a +74% rally. Now let's take $3,000 and keep going!!!

ETH crosses 3000$ once again, last time we've seen 3000$ was on May 19th 2021, 3 months ago!

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 02:31 AM PDT

    ETH price now: 3011$

    ETH price on May 19th 2021: 3127$

ETH price on this date 1 year ago: 379$

I hope you guys haven't forgotten that ETH has seen 1700$ during these months before coming back up to 3k. If you weren't scared of buying, you could have made a +82% if you bought the bottom.

If you haven't sold your ETH since May 19th, you are now on break-even. If you had, I am sorry for you.

Even people who bought ETH at 4k are now at only a -20% loss! If you are staking it and DCA-ing, that loss is even lower everyday!

Congratulations to all ETH hodlers for this milestone! See you on 4k soon!

This can't be put off or delayed. They are about to vote TOMORROW which will set the course for the rest of your economic life: The White House Came In To Support Crypto Tax Proposal Changes That Are Not Friendly To The Crypto World, Senator Cynthia Lummis Calls Crypto Community “We Need You”.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 05:21 AM PDT

Edit 8: Important NEW TOOL---> Coinbase created a page that automatically generates an email to send to your senator to vote YES on the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey amendment and NO on the Warner-Portman amendment

We need to organize and unite around this serious issue. We need to act TODAY. Yes, calling your Senator works if it's in enough large numbers. Forget everything else today and let's act as ONE against this atrocity that could kill Crypto (at least in the US).

If you live in the United States, CALL AND WRITE your Senator TODAY regarding this regulation which is being used as a weapon against Cryptocurrencies.

    https://thecryptobasic.com/2021/08/06/out-of-the-blue-white-house-came-in-to-support-crypto-tax-proposal-changes-that-are-not-friendly-to-the-crypto-world-senator-cynthia-lummis-calls-crypto-community-we-need-you/

    Please call:

Call your Senators right now at 517-200-9518 and tell them to support this amendment!

We'll connect you to their offices and guide you through the process.

When a staff member answers, tell them:

"Hi, I'm calling to ask that you support Senator Wyden, Toomey, and Lummis's amendment to the cryptocurrency provision of the infrastructure bill (H.R. 3684) . This amendment will ensure that the provision does not dramatically expand financial surveillance, harm innovation, or undermine human rights. Policies that impact basic freedom and the future of the Internet should be debated carefully and should never be attached to must-pass bills. Thank you."

Edit: Another very fast and easy way to do it here:

Edit 2: Watch this excellent rant by Charles Hoskinson: Warner-Portman-Sinema v Toomey-Wyden-Lummis

    Edit 3: Thanks u/crypto_grandma

For those that think it won't make any difference, I saw this comment in the pinned post on this issue in r/Bitcoin that hopefully will encourage people to see they can make a difference:

I interned for an organization that works on calling/emailing congressmen and senators on acts that we need to pass.

I never knew how this actually DOES make a difference.

You don't even need to say the paragraph, you can say some simplified short sentence like "I support this amendment to this act". An intern answering your call will add a tally to "support this amendment to this act" to the call report that is sent to the congressional leader and their staffers. It is an email containing numbers of how many people called about what. We can really work together to make this staggering.

True, there may be some senators that are being disgustingly lobbied out of their decisions. But there are also those who are genuinely interested/confused on cryptocurrency and this shows them the general public consensus to support.

You can literally call/email every week on repeat, it goes on a fresh new report each week. Please help in making this work.

Edit 4: Late, but I just saw this +excellent +explanation

    Source---> https://np.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/ozgw7w/please_read_and_call_your_senators_and_share/

Edit 5: Another great way to contact your Senators:

    https://www.cop.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm

Edit 6: Adding Senator Lummis amazing speech defending Crypto on the Senate floor.

Edit 7: Keep the pressure! They are bringing out the big guns--->

Jeff Stein of the Washington Post wrote that Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has personally lobbied against the earlier amendment, even going so far as to contact Wyden directly.

Senator Elizabeth Warren Says Crypto Poses Bigger Risk to Financial System the Bigger It Gets. They’re so scared it’s funny.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 11:04 AM PDT

Politicians are playing all of you. They want to pass crypto regulations without losing votes and it might work.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 07:24 PM PDT

Politicians are playing all of you. They've figured out how to pass crypto regulations without a huge blow back from voters and the move is in play as we speak. How exactly are they able to achieve this? Through Negotiation Anchoring.

First they slipped in crypto provisions at the last minute into the Infrastructure bill knowing full well that there would be huge resentment from crypto voters. A small panel of bipartisan members introduce an amendment that slightly improves the provisions (Wyden/Lummis/Toomey) but the amendment isn't quite enough to calm the mob. So they introduce an even worse amendment that scares the living sh*t out of all of you (Portman/Warner) so that all of you anchor your reference point to the first amendment from Wyden/Lummis/Toomey. Notice how both amendments have members of both party? This is so neither party takes all of the flack and hatred from passing crypto regulations.

NONE of the crypto provisions should be in the infrastructure bill PERIOD until we understand it better. They've successfully moved the conversations from we shouldn't have any regulations to what regulations are acceptable.

    I feel like an idiot

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 05:49 PM PDT

I just got off the phone after calling the offices of both senators in my state. I live in Ohio. I read the generic message mentioning to support the Wyden, Toomey, and Lummis side of things and then went on to ask they vote no on the Warner, Portman-Sinema amendment. Because I used the automated system that another Redditor was kind enough to link to, I didn't even think about the fact that I was leaving a message for Rob Portman. Needless to say, I asked him to vote no on his own amendment. Not sure how effective that will be with him, but oh well. Either way I'm glad I made the calls. It's not difficult to do and it took me less than 5 minutes. Please do the same if you're able!

For those who don’t use Twitter: Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong’s words about infrastructure bill

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 02:54 PM PDT

    Tweets in order:

"1/ There are a few key moments that define our future. One is happening now in the Senate w/ the infrastructure bill. At the 11th hour @MarkWarner has proposed an amendment that would decide which foundational technologies are OK and which are not in crypto. This is disastrous."

"2/ Senator @MarkWarner has asked for proof of stake validators to comply with the impossible, but not proof of work miners. Why? It's not clear, but we could find ourselves with the Senate deciding which types of crypto will survive government regulation."

"3/ This is the government trying to pick winners and losers in a nascent industry today, where some new technology is being developed every month. They are guaranteed to get it wrong, by writing in a few exceptions by hand today."

"4/ Imagine if the government decided that iOS is OK but Android isn't. And that software developers building on iOS can thrive, but Android is outlawed."

"5/ Our Senators are voting tomorrow on the future of innovation in finance and crypto in America. If they choose the Sen.@MarkWarner amendment, we will see future development of blockchain technology move offshore to countries like China that are currently embracing it."

"6/ Crypto is still in its early stages. Innovators across this country are working to make crypto networks better, enabling new apps like NFTs, smart contracts, and DeFi. These will bring enormous benefits to Americans, and help ensure our place as a financial hub."

"7/ If the U.S. fails to embrace the innovation happening in crypto, it risks becoming a financial backwater, missing out on one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy. Imagine if we had missed out on the internet, and the largest internet companies had been built overseas."

"8/ This debate in the Senate started because the govt sees the growing crypto industry as a source of tax revenue. We agree everyone must pay their taxes. There is no debate on this topic. But destroying some of the most exciting innovations in the process is unconscionable."

"9/ History will not be kind to any politician who tries to block American's access to new technologies. Americans have a very low tolerance for taking away our rights, and harming economic growth."

"10/ Contact your Senators and urge them to vote for the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey amendment and vote NO on the Warner-Portman amendment. Let's keep crypto alive and thriving, we're just getting started."

Crypto is a threat to traditional economy - Says the guys that are running the very same economy to ground by screwing over poor and bending over for the rich

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 12:00 AM PDT

In a way, Crypto is helping atleast a fraction of lower/middle class population (although right now, I agree, an even bigger fraction were screwed by shitcoins, fomo and rugpulls) and they don't want it, they want to screw us all over and make us dependent on them as we've been since our birth.

Governments ? US (or any other government) will do everything but tax the rich lol. Easiest way to solve all socio-economic problems but they would bend over for these billionaires and won't do that. They would happily commit genocides, screw over their own middle/lower class citizens, and go to war and risk their own soldiers lives but won't do anything that would actually help their poor.

They would gladly allow the rich to transfer and stake most of their wealth and evade taxes by exploiting loopholes in their dumb system, but wouldn't allow the average Joe to make it in the world by working hard. Tax rates start screwing us more and more, the moment we start earning slightly increased sum of money, but guys that own large corporations can evade because they don't get any salary on paper, created some side business abroad and invested their money in it.

Banks? Take a small student loan, take a home loan, not only will they make it as difficult as possible for you to get one and they'll hunt you till the ends of earth to make you pay up. But for billionaires? They'll happily offer all their money with little or no collateral to save failing businesses and then when they screw up, come back and charge us more to get back their losses.

For example when Glazers bought Manchester United football club, it was fully financed by a bank, and collateral was some club properties that they didn't own. Basically, buy the club and then give us collateral

They don't want us to prosper whilst being independent of them.

Wouldn't Pokemon be a perfect Nft game?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 11:36 PM PDT

So I have been thinking about this lately. Isn't it a perfect opportunity for Pokemon to implement NFT's in pokemon games? For every Pokemon caught you are receiving an NFT. Mewtwo NFT's will be more rare and more pricey. You can trade those NFT's with different people and can even sell them as a NFT outside of the game to make money.

Yeah I really think Pokemon needs to think about this.

ATTENTION TEXANS! Senator Ted Cruz’s inbox is officially FULL!

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 08:09 PM PDT

Texans have put in enough calls to completely fill up Senator Ted Cruz's voicemail. As one of the faces of the Republican Party and Texas, he would be a huge vote in favor of Senators Wyden, Toomey, and Lummis.

Next step if for Texas Senator John Cornyn to wake up to a full voicemail box. Call (517)-200-9142 and show your support for the future of our economy!

Edit: To everyone saying "fuck Ted Cruz he's not gonna listen", this is what we can do with the man who's in office. Keep blowing up Cruz and Cornyn's phones

    Tomorrow is not judgement day.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 10:35 AM PDT

If the infrastructure bill is passed, it'll go to the House - who are significantly more pro-crypto than the Senate. Any crypto provisions passed won't be active until 2023 at the earliest.

There's plenty of time to fight and overturn this if necessary - whether in Congress or in the courts.

    For now, call your senators.

    But also remember:

    1. We will not fall off a cliff tomorrow.

    2. Innovation always outpaces regulation.

    3. Crypto is inevitable.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 09:01 PM PDT

A now deleted thread was posted earlier requesting we vote on a name for fractions of moons. The top comment was u/NecroMancer1899 who suggested "Crescents" which I think is absolutely genius. Not only does this incorporate the Moon, but it incorporates cents within Crescents.

From now on, we should refer to fractions of Moons as Crescents. Thoughts?

If you think it’s only US goverment going after crypto you are dead wrong

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 12:38 AM PDT

Many of us from outside US may be sitting here and thinking "well, at least it ain't happening to me". We sholdn't. It's already begun in EU and South East Asia. My Sberbank blocked me from depositing to Binance via both SEPA and creditcard claiming that the website is on their "fraudulent listl and they are doing it for the safety of their clients. They have literally locked me from accessing my hard eatned money.

And the most sickening part is that they don't give a fuck about betting. You can bet on anything you want. You can buy lottery tickets, put insane amounts of money on your sports team, horse races, god damn scratch tickets and lotto. Thats perfectly fine!

But if I want to put those ten euros in ETH, to maybe have a single fucking drop of hope for a better life for my kids so that they dont have to pick up garbage like I do for living, boomer goverment goes fucking bananas on us.

If you fall for a scam from a message in your Reddit inbox then you are dumb

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 11:24 PM PDT

All these "warning" posts about how to identify the "top" crypto scams on here are annoying me to no end. If you need someone to tell you that you should not respond (or give your personal financial info) to these scammer idiots, then you are beyond help. For two reasons:

    1. The scammers on here are the most blatant and un-creative scammers I've ever seen. They write like 12 year-olds and they promise you 5x return on your crypto investment. If you fall for that then you are dumb.

    2. Why would you EVER trust a stranger who writes you out of the blue asking about your money? Did your parents completely fail at raising you? If you accept candy from strangers, you are dumb.

If the person PMing you is not asking you for pics of your dick or tits, or is not arguing with you about some comment you made, then it's a scam. Have you never been on the internet before?

I feel no sympathy for anyone who falls for a scam on this sub.

To all new investors / traders - a bit of advice from a veteran in the crypto space.

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 12:50 AM PDT

I have been in crypto space since early 2016 - see my flair.

Each bull run brings a bunch of new people, who will make the same mistakes I and thousands of others did.

Since all evidence points to the fact that this is the start of a new bull run, please consider the below moving forward.

    Top advice I can provide:

    • Stop looking at the price daily. If you truly believe in this space and what it can offer, looking at the daily price fluctuations may grow doubt / cause you second thoughts. Doesn't apply if you are trying to day trade (which I would not suggest for new people - it will likely not end well).

    • If you are looking to cash out / sell, NEVER sell your entire stake. My 350 USD ETH sale was profitable, but well, you know.

    • If it sounds too good to be true, it is. There is always a catch.

    • Never trust anyone who sends you a pm with offers / ideas / whatever it may be. Crypto is ripe with scams.

    • Do not be swayed by hype threads / DD threads. IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE COIN / PROJECT, you will be looking to sell at the first red day. Do your own research, BUILD YOUR CONVICTION.

    • Write your seeds on paper, and store it somewhere safely. Keep your seeds offline.

    • Often times the most successful investments are the ones where it doesn't make much sense. You must try to think outside of the box. What I mean by this, is that while a coin may have a great argument and such may be a good idea, at the end of the day, a coin that would be easy to adopt and use by the masses (even if it doesn't have a great use case) may be way more successful. Think like the majority of traders would (this is for offshoot investments - not your main ones).

    • If you have to do moonshots / high risk investments, set a stop loss and stick to it.

    • Lastly - it needs to be reiterated - BUILD YOUR CONVICTION. What do all the successful traders have in common? They have conviction. They invest and make a trade and stick with it because they believe.

That should be it for now. If you do the above, I have no doubt in my mind you will be successful.

ETH hitting $3k has a completely different meaning and sentiment than it was back in May

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 12:41 PM PDT

We are all euphoric and excited about ETH hitting $3k

But it was exactly the opposite a couple months back when ETH at the same speed came tumbling down from $4300 to $3k.

And that is what I love about crypto. I just love that it makes me feel so many emotions in so little time.

I interview folks from the Cryptocurrency world about their projects and just finished interviewing a guy you'd least expect, he's 70 years old, plays the accordion and goes by Count Smokula...

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 06:16 PM PDT

This was a pretty cool, unique interview if I don't say so myself.

As you might expect most of the folks I speak with are, you know, developers and entrepreneurs but this guys was none of those things. Instead, he's a creative genius IMO. He was on cable TV for a while with a couple different shows and characters, one of them was Count Smokula the 496 year old accordian playing vampire, another show he did was with Lloyd Kaufman from Troma Entertainment (the guys that created The Toxic Avenger which both my older brother and I were obsessed with in the 90's), he plays the guitar, accordion, piano, sings, dances, does comedy, was a circus ringmaster, emcee, he used to hang out Bob Dylan and even played him in a show once, and of course he paints and draws.

These paintings and drawings are now being turned into NFTs via OpenSea and even that itself is a hell of a story. Turns out the guys helping him do it are the family implicated in the Balloon Boy Saga from a few years back! The hell!? Yeah I know!

I was on the phone with Smokey for some time and this guy is sharp as a whip. I could barely keep up to be perfectly honest.

The interesting thing is that they are taking Smokeys art, scanning them into a computer in High Res and selling the scans with some original art pieces being sent out in some cases. Will it work, won't it? I have no idea. But a very cool story nonetheless.

If the story interests you, give it a read.

Daily dose of Crypto or HOPIUM as some suggested

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 09:36 PM PDT

    Your daily dose of Crypto

    1. The total market cap is at $1.82 trillion, up by 6.4% in last 24 hours.
    2. BTC has crossed $43k first time since May and is up by 7.8% in last 24 hrs, as shorts continue being liquidated.
    3. ETH rallied past $2.9k, as the bullish sentiment returned due to London hard fork
    4. US Infrastructure bill's proposed second amendment by the original bill's authors (Warner - Portman - Sinema Amendment) has created huge uproar in US and all around the crypto space.
