Explorer.bitcoin.com is now gone and redirects to Blockchair

Checked explorer.bitcoin.com as well and it's now redirecting to https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash?from=bitcoin.com.

    And here we are now.

I've created a support ticket and hope someone notices, but Blockchair using Github of all things as a support system doesn't look right.

    https://github.com/Blockchair/Blockchair.Support/issues/595

EDIT: I forgot to mention why I made the GitHub ticket: the old Bitcoin.com Explorer has SLP support and is used by many developers to implement SLP support on their own wallets.

Bitcoin lost dominance on coinbase, it only accounts for 24% while other crypto assets including BCH are at 50% of the trading volume. Institutions dont want overpriced nonworking BTC and are buying alternatives like BCH!

I am pleased to announce that I have taken over CryptoWoo, the simple, self-hosted and non-custodial payment gateway for WooCommerce. My goal is for CryptoWoo to be the easiest and cheapest way for WooCommerce merchants to get started with taking Bitcoin Cash payments to increase the adoption of BCH

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 05:45 AM PDT

CryptoWoo which released in 2015, is the first seamless non-custodial and self-hosted cryptocurrency payments plugin for WooCommerce with no middlemen fees and no single point of failure. It was one of the first WooCommerce plugins to add support for Bitcoin Cash already in December 2017 and since then we have grown to nearly a thousand merchants that are utilizing CryptoWoo today.

CryptoWoo is software run on the merchants own hosting of choice, all the payment processing is done by the plugin. As the plugin does not connect to a central server, there is no way to shut down CryptoWoo from functioning. With HD wallet support, the merchant can use an offline wallet such as Ledger, Trezor, or Electron Cash on an offline computer. The checkout page is natively integrated into your WooCommerce website, there is no iframes or redirection to third-party websites of any kind.

I acquired CryptoWoo recently after being involved in the project for a long time. Keys4Coins started using CryptoWoo as its payment gateway of choice back in 2015 and I started contributing to its development soon after. I released the Bitcoin Cash add-on in August of 2017 and I was a part-time contracted developer for the CryptoWoo project for 4 years.

Our primary focus in this Flipstarter is the development of the plugin and the on-boarding of new merchants by providing them with all the benefits of Bitcoin Cash while also making the process of receiving payments in WooCommerce as simplistic and safe as possible. We will also reserve a portion of this money to hire developers with the skills required to speed up the development of the project.

You may read more and pledge to our Flipstarter at https://funding.cryptowoo.com

What's a more genuine way this part of the page can be written and cited? It seems snarcky (?) and I don't know how true it is + the majority of the worlds bitcoin miners were from China

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SegWit#Activation

A small group of mostly China-based bitcoin miners, that were unhappy with bitcoin's proposed SegWit improvement plans, pushed forward alternative plans for a split which created Bitcoin Cash.[7]

In case you never split your BCHA from your BCH, it's easier now than it used to be.

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 03:05 PM PDT

In case you have pre BCHA split coins, there's still free money on the table equal to about 12% of the value of your BCH. Worth splitting if you haven't. Only works if your wallet hasn't received post-split coins on top of your pre-split coins.

Sending to coinex still works, and you'll be credited BCH and XEC if you send them pre-split BCH. (BCHA has rebranded as XEC)

If you have larger amounts of BCH:

    1. Download both the electron cash wallet and electron ABC wallet.

    2. Send your pre-split BCH to the electron cash wallet. You'll see the transaction on the electron ABC wallet too.

    3. In your electron cash wallet, send to yourself by copy pasting the electron cash receive address. You'll notice this address is not replayed in the electron ABC wallet.

    4. Lastly, do the same thing in the electron ABC wallet (send to and from your own ABC wallet.)

That's all. You don't have to wait for confirmations for any part of this. I recommend testing with a small amount first. Additional tip: The exchanges that will let you sell that XEC might require a non-US IP address.

Bitcoin transactions over $1 million dominate in 2021

    Posted: 11 Aug 2021 02:53 AM PDT

Large Bitcoin ( BTC ) transactions more than doubled in 2021, according to Glassnode's Week On Chain report. Such operations already represent 65% of all network transactions in 2021, compared to 30% in 2020.

This metric assesses the dominance of transactions above US$1 million (approximately R$5.2 million). According to the chart below, large transactions have been gaining more space since September 2020.

    BTC falling, accumulation rising

Interestingly, the peak of this movement occurred precisely during the correction of the BTC's high, which was consolidated as of May. That month registered exactly the peak of large transactions. Therefore, Glassnode identifies that these transactions originate from purchases, that is, accumulation of BTC.

"The data suggests that these large transactions are more likely to be accumulators than sellers and is, again, quite constructive for the price. This reflects a growing share of institutional interest and capital transfer through the Bitcoin network," the report said.

At the same time, transactions registered a 20% increase in the last week, just during the BTC's appreciation. Since the end of July, large transactions have grown in the double digits per week.

    Companies and funds accumulate BTC

For Will Clemente, an analyst at Blockware, the accumulation period began in 2019 and showed no signs of cooling, even with the declines in the price of BTC. Since then, large investors have accumulated nearly 270,000 BTC, or around R$63 billion.

That list includes fund managers up to large companies such as Grayscale and MicroStrategy. Altogether, these entities allocated around US$ 4.5 billion in the market. The fact that this allocation started towards the end of July is consistent with the peak in large transactions recorded from that date.

Finally, Clemente highlighted that these investors are focused on the long term. Thus, there is no search here for exit movements like those that occurred in the past. After all, today the institutional market is much more developed than in previous cycles.

"Unlike the dead cat leap of 2017, long-term holders are not looking for exit liquidity to jump ship. They are sitting for a long time and strong," he explained.

The expression "dead cat's leap" is used in the financial market to designate an asset that registers a brief increase during a severe period, sometimes irreversible, of devaluation. It comes from the catchphrase "even a dead cat will chime if it falls from a great height." However, the cat named Bitcoin apparently continues to bounce and has lost none of its seven lives.

Need help with identifying bitcointalk.org administrator

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 01:34 PM PDT

(It's not my intention to cause issues for anyone not involved, so I have cleared this post with a mod here.)

I am in the mid stages of a very large lawsuit against a few members of that forum. I have uniquely identified two of them, but the admin has a name shared by successful people who I do not want to bother. I want to make it instantly obvious who I am suing.

More details on the lawsuit can be found here (updating August 15, 2021)

(Hopefully this is my last post drawing attention to that garbage forum)

Is anyone focusing on merchant to merchant payments?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2021 08:44 AM PDT

There's tremendous value in merchants receiving payments and immediately being able to pay their suppliers which could then be paid to suppliers' suppliers ad infinitum. This would increase the velocity of money allowing more efficient capital allocation and is not something that's currently possible with the existing banking system. Has anyone had success with this?

SmartBCH is here but you must be careful regardless.

    https://read.cash/@francis105d1/smartbch-is-here-but-you-must-be-careful-regardless-913cf700

We just got the announcement that SmartBCH will be on the mainnet, but to do just a non-validator node, you must run some command-line software, that connects to a full BCH node using RPC, which pretty much is a command-line thing. For normal users, this must be a foreign language because many don't know how to use a computer, let alone some complex command-line commands. I use Ubuntu Linux and I don't feel that confident when it comes to command-line commands. So SmartBCH is not ready for the masses just yet, so just have a little patience because eventually, we will have a GUI interface that everyone can use. In the meantime, try to learn more about and also try to learn about the possible risks that DeFi will bring to BCH.
