So... can i make a cold wallet from a Raspberry Pi or Arduino? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 04:39 AM PDT If i can install a clean OS on a pi that's only connected to internet for transaction purposes. and only on it i store wallets/keys and such nothing else installed... does that count as a cold wallet alternative? or surly there are things i'm not taking in mind maybe security/connectivity wise. tnx EDIT: Better asked. What would it take to convert a Pi/Arduino into a cold wallet just like Trezor or Ledger EDIT #2 : I realize now that price ranges are pretty much the same so to avoid "why not just buy a cold wallet for the same price" questions , i already have a Pi laying in here at home and this could be also useful for learning purposes as to what makes a cold wallet a cold wallet. Does anyone have any info on thermal pads for Palit 3070 Ti Gamerock OC Cards Posted: 12 Jul 2021 08:03 AM PDT Hi guys I wanted to know if anyone had any info about the different thickness and sizes for the thermal pads used in the Palit 3070 Ti Gamerock OC card They didn't include pads on the backplate, for those it looks like 3mm or 2.5mm pads should work But I haven't taken the cooler off as yet to check the internal pads as I'm still waiting for some thermal paste to get delivered I haven't come across any reviews or teardowns showing the thickness of the internal pads so I'd appreciate if anyone had some info on this I'm from SA so it takes like a month or so for anything to get delivered from ebay/amazon so I need to be 100% sure of what's needed so I can get it all in one go Thanks! Beginner miner, looking for thoughts and tips on my planned build Posted: 12 Jul 2021 07:53 AM PDT I've been researching crypto mining (btc) and I am thinking of running 4 NVIDIA rtx 3070s with a homemade 6 slot frame (in case I want to expand ) and was wondering if anyone has any tips on maybe good motherboards, CPU's and power supplies I could use for that, the 4 gpus combined use 576 kw a month (max power) [link] [comments]
First time using a PCI-E Riser, please tell me this is safe before I go to sleep Posted: 12 Jul 2021 12:20 AM PDT 1 PCI-E cable that has 2 plugs, it came like that with the PSU. The 8 pin plugged into the 3060 Ti FE dongle. The 2nd 8pin from same cable, I used the 6 pin to connect to the PCI-E Riser. Mining software reporting the 3060 Ti is drawing 131w. Is this safe? Air exhaust, smaller fan or duct reducer?? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 05:32 AM PDT Hello. I contemplate my options for an inline fan (with a grow tent). Bigger fan = bigger cfm, however where i will plug the final duct is only 100mm. And the fan i found which is quiet and powerful sits at 200mm. Should i choose a smaller size or just put a reducer at the end of the chain? Thanks Edit: the tent is to remove heat from the living room not to cool the cards better A few pictures for context [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jul 2021 05:25 PM PDT Repad was a success! Dropped about 10+ C on VRAM. Now hovering around 84 where it used to be 94-98. Used Gelid Ultimate instead of Thermalright since the pads were cheaper by half (since they came with set of two for the same price). The old pads were SUPER goopy. They felt like super thick thermal paste instead of pads. They left tons of residue and were pretty much impossible to remove cleanly from the cards. If anyone wants repad EVGA cards, I would suggest repadding them immediately if you plan to mine long term (longer than 2 months). I used 2mm on the memory. 1 mm on the chokes and 2mm on the mosfets. Rig no longer booting after power outage Posted: 11 Jul 2021 09:46 PM PDT My rig has been running great for the past couple of months but after a power outage yesterday it no longer boots. When i turn the rig on de fans on the gpu, cpu and psu start spinning but i get no display whatsoever and it doesn't show up on hiveos. I tried to clear the cmos, remove the gpus and use different ram but none of it worked. Are there other things i could try? Or is my mobo or cpu fried? Specs: Mobo: Asrock h110 pro btc+ Cpu: celeron g4900 psu: corsair tx650m os: hiveos Any help would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments]
Anyone know of a good enclosure setup for 3 full gpu Posted: 11 Jul 2021 08:52 PM PDT Long story short, sparing you the details why - I'm looking to build a few gpu enclosures that are completely closed (like afull tower, etc) and not open frames that can fit 3 full size cards... I know it wont be cheaper than open air frames but due to the details i'm sparing you I don't care... From looking around it seems most motherboards that can hold 3 full cards are pretty expensive or non existent... There are a few older ones from back when triple and quad sli was a thing but i'm not sure... guess i could put them in a full tower and hope for the best. Anyone doing something similar? I'm seeing articles of "used Chines 30xx cards Posted: 11 Jul 2021 12:40 PM PDT But where are people actually buying these cards? Asking as I am interested in finally putting together a rig. Even if its modest one. Also have access to power at $0.025 KWH, so figure I should make the most of it. [link] [comments] |
