MSI Afterburner keeps putting my gpu fan at 100 fan speed

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 09:10 PM PDT

I recently put in my 2nd 3070 and the fan speed on the first one stays how I want, but on my second one the fan speed maxes out at 100 every couple seconds and I can't figure out how to stop that. Any way to do that?

Should I buy 6700xt from scalper or wait for AMD direct drop or 3070???

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 08:15 PM PDT

So I have $1000 allocated for GPU additions. I can buy 1 6700XT from sclapers right now and add it to the rig. Or I can wait for AMD , BB, or other stores to drop and potentially get 2 x 6700 or 1 x 3070. Only issue is I don't know when I'll get the cards since it's so hard to grab on drops. With the merge incoming In the next 9-12 months, what would be the better decision ? I hope people can weigh in on this ordeal. I'm also hoping for nvidia since I heard they are better with other algorithms but 6700xt are good cards Aswell. Thanks

unstable power usage on rtx3080 gaming trio

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 11:56 AM PDT

    hi,

I am mining with 3 RTX gaming trio

    i am locking Voltage/frequency curve at : 1310Mhz / .725 mV
    and with a memory clock at +1350, I am getting 99-101 MH/s

2 of my cards power draw is really stable one at 215W and other at 220W

but my other card cannot decide what to draw, it jumps between 211W - 230W

and it is the hottest card, I cant seem to make make it stable, I am trying different Voltage/frequency combinations, different memory clock settings, but one thing is certain it never draws a stable power.

I have more than enough power supply, what do you guys think maybe the problem here?

Low hash rates on 3060 While Mining ERGO

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 04:12 PM PDT

Hey Guys I have a 3060 and I'm trying to Mine ergo but I'm seeing mixed results, At first I tried stock settings and I can't break 103 Mhs with a max of +200 on mem, I then saw it go to 112 when I plugged a monitor in but it's sadly back to the low 60s im on Windows with Nvidia Driver 466.77

I have plenty of Watts left in the Psu, what could be the issue? What am I doing wrong?

    Sanity check

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 11:57 AM PDT

So... I recently did a pad swap on my 3080 fe while following the steps in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3NTHGuNSbY&t=1227s and have been encountering some strange behavior. The swap went well and in testing my vram temps while mining dropped about 20c from about 105c - 109c while maintaining gpu temp to roughly 55c. Awesome results right? I thought so too until I started up a match of Trakov. While I don't have any numbers from before the swap while gaming I do remember in general how it behaved, such as the fans almost never spinning up to an audible level regardless of how hard I pushed the gpu. After the swap though... the fans spin up to max and has been thermal throttling like crazy around 75c (gpu temp). Initially I thought I must have messed up the thermal paste and took the card apart again to fix it, I did this several times since I never seemed to be able to get back to a "normal" behavior. I'm currently out of paste to try again so I resigned to messing with some settings to try and get the temps under control until I could get more. I've discovered that lowering my power target in evga precision x1 down to 60% manages to keep the temps just below the point the fans ramp up while providing roughly the same fps as from before the swap.

Sorry for the ramble, I guess my question might be wtf is going on and any tips on how to get the gpu temp under-control would be appreciated.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I used thermal grizzly extreme for the thermal paste instead of the mx-4 in the video though everything else is the same.

    TB360 BTC Pro Issues

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 12:27 PM PDT

I must be in over my head here

I've built 4 card rigs in the past on much less crazy hardware

I purchased a TB360 BTC Pro Mobo and 2x 1600 watt power supplies

I will be using either 7 or 8 3080s on this rig.

I've yet to do a dual PSU build before. I wanted to plug one PSU into the Mobo and just see if I'm able to plug HDMI straight into the Mobo itself before even bringing GPU into the picture. I plugged the 28 pin into the Mobo and the CPU and such boot up. There's a blue 4+4 pin included in my PSU cable array(non modular) I assume goes into aux power3 on the Mobo. Whenever I plug the 4+4 in the PSU quickly clicks and nothing happens. Removing the 4+4 allows it to turn on and have the CPU fan turn but still no display.

Do I need the second PSU installed into the second 28 pin slot? Im feeling like I'm over looking something simple here and don't want to progress without asking because there is expensive equipment here at play

I can't find any YouTube videos for this model. Everything is related to the 250 so I'm feeling pretty lost right now.

Thank you for any and all help

They say up to 60% of Eth network comes from ASICs.

It's hard to see that other 40% crushing other coins once spread out.

But what is there to stop the asic people from acquiring a bunch of GPU? (Is this the reasoning for proof-of-work going extinct theory?)

    Mining on 240v Without PDU

    Posted: 11 Jun 2021 10:35 AM PDT

I'm building my first mining rig (will have 5 GPUs, but will add more). I'll be powering it off a 240v 2400w server power supply and will be installing a L6-20R outlet in my house.

My question is, since it's just one rig, I don't need a PDU, right? Can I just grab a cable like this and go straight to the power supply?

Or if I'm way off, what should I be doing?
