- Whilst most are upsizing, I've gone from 2x3080s + 7x3070s at the beginning of this year down to a single 3070. I've sold everything else at ridiculously marked up prices and have retired a 3080 into my main PC for gaming purposes only. It was an exhilarating ride. Thanks all!

Looks like the GPU dump is starting to happen already! Posted: 06 Jun 2021 09:54 PM PDT Noticing quite a bunch of used GPUS for sale on facebookmarket place. Close to MSRP pricing too. Anyone else noticing this? Haven't even reached EIP-1559 yet. Maybe recent lower gas prices and crypto dips have scared folks. [link] [comments]
GPU prices coming off the boil? Posted: 07 Jun 2021 04:03 AM PDT Is it just me or are the prices of GPUs starting to drop? On eBay this morning I'm seeing 3080s for £500 less than a week ago. Don't get me wrong still too expensive but am I making it up or is something happening? [link] [comments]
Any tips on how to cool GPU in summer Posted: 07 Jun 2021 05:04 AM PDT I get 45C at 70% fan atm instead of 40C and I'm worried my gpu will break. Any tips on how to cool the gpu when temperature rises in summer? [link] [comments]
Entire PC lags when using 2nd GPU? Posted: 06 Jun 2021 08:59 PM PDT Hey guys, just started mining on quickminer last week on my personal PC and I'm enjoying it. I just have a problem with my rig that I can't seem to troubleshoot. I tried posting this in the nicehash subreddit but for some reason it keeps getting autodeleted instantly. I have a 3080 and a 2060 super FE. When I started with just my 3080 last week I had absolutely ZERO issues, it ran perfectly and never stuttered my PC even when it was in use. Earlier today I just connected my 2060 s via riser (molex + pcie), and whenever the 2060 super is mining, it causes my entire PC to stutter for about 1 second once every 10 seconds or so. My browser has hardware acceleration turned off and I have a ryzen 5000 cpu so I can't run off integrated. I believe the issue is localized to just the 2060 super; with it disabled and the 3080 mining it will have zero issues and zero hiccups, but the second I enable the 2060 even by itself it will start lagging. My monitor is plugged into the 3080 and I'm not running ANY intensive programs, just chrome with a few tabs. Anyone know what the cause could be? My PSU is an 850W but I hardly think that's the cause when my nicehash dashboard is showing barely over 300w of usage with the 2 gpus, my CPU is undervolted and I am NOT CPU mining. My 3080 is connected directly to the motherboard's gen4 16x pcie, and my 2060 s is connected via a 1x riser to a 1x slot. I'm running both GPUs on Light optimization. I also don't think it's the thermals since my 3080 is inside my airflow case with plenty of fans and the side panel is open, and my 2060 is outside of my case. Adding the 2060 actually caused a whole slew of issues, such as straight up blue screening and making my entire PC become unresponsive, DDU'ing and reinstalling seemed to make it better but it still has like a 50/50% chance of crashing the display moments after I start mining with both cards. It also causes my dashboard to sometimes show that my rig was offline despite excavator actively mining. However I don't think my 2060 is defective, I was using it as my main gpu 2 weeks ago without any problems. One quirk I noticed that could be helpful is that the stutter happens EVERY time excavator posts my hashrate. pc specs that could be useful:

T-Rex ETH mining with laptop 3060 - 35MH? Posted: 06 Jun 2021 08:21 PM PDT Getting around 35.1MH/s on two identical laptops - both Acer Nitro's with 3060: https://store.acer.com/en-sg/nvidia-rtx-3060-acer-nitro-5-gaming-laptop-an515-55-57h3 Firstly is it the miner reported hashrate that you guys mostly compare or the accepted hashrate? I haven't played much with tweaking but they're getting around 35.1MH/s with T-Rex. Is that fairly good? The core/mem/power are all default so far. Cooling has been easy - I just sit them on the concrete floor and it absorbs so much heat. They stay around 67C, and even the power brick stays fairly cool. [link] [comments]

Do PCIE USB Riser Cables add lanes? Posted: 06 Jun 2021 06:49 PM PDT Noob question, if you put a riser cable into a PCIE x1 slot, and the riser itself is x16, does the motherboard treat this GPU as 16 lane or 1 lane? Asking because I have a second RTX 3060 I'd like to use for my rig, but there is only one x16 slot and no x8 slots, and the hash rate is limited for RTX 3060s on daggerhashimoto on any PCIE connected with fewer than 8 lanes. The motherboard is MSI MPG x570 Gaming Edge WiFi [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jun 2021 05:35 PM PDT I have an old i5 that's been sitting in a garage for years, I got it up and running and it's currently mining XMR and running a storj node. Is there any reason it couldn't run a modern graphics card, either 5500xt or a 1660 super? I know they're pci-e 3.0 cards and it's a pci-e 2.0 cpu/board, but I believe they're backward compatible? Only reason I ask is I couldn't get it to boot with a card in the slot as it is, but that's not terribly surprising considering it's been sitting on a garage shelf for ~10 years. If it is actually able to run those cards, would the cpu bottleneck them? Probably gonna keep them stuck on moneroocean after 2.0 hits. I don't really see this machine being used for gaming.
