Posted: 04 Jun 2021 07:33 AM PDT A friend wrote and posted a detailed post about the profitability of GPU mining Flux (with upcoming airdrop). .. literally a 3 year old, GPU-dedicated mining algo crypto that is pushing decentralized cloud. Was instantly banned https://imgur.com/a/UoW5I3s .. from ever posting here again. Flux is one of the few cryptos that has always been GPU only mined, and fairly distributed. I've been posting in r/cryptocurrency since 2013, and GPU mining since 2014. If the mods think anything that isnt a top 100 crypto is shilling, they shouldnt be mods. Flux is top 60 minable .. Posted: 04 Jun 2021 06:49 AM PDT Just a quick question is 1000W enough for: 1x 1070 1x 2060 Super 4x 2060 I'm currently running two 850W PSU's which is more than enough and I was thinking of condensing my hardware. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jun 2021 10:23 AM PDT I've commented this list to a few people in the past, but I figure maybe there are others out there looking to build a rig that need this info. Get this Motherboard. You need something that supports quad-SLI/crossfire. This board will run its PCIe slots at 8x8x16x8x. 3060 needs full 8x speeds to hash at full speeds. Buy this CPU. You can't use an i7 or a Celeron processor because you need 40 PCIe lanes in your CPU to run those PCIe slots at full speed. Intel Xeon E5-2603 V3 is what you need, MAKE SURE it's version 3. Other versions won't fit the slot in that board. Get this cooler. It's gaudy, but it's the cheapest 2011 cooler you can get. Get 3 of these PCIe risers. You want 3 this length and then 1 that's a bit longer so you can space cards out so they get good airflow. Get 1 of these PCIe risers. That's the longer one to put in the bottom slot so you can space it out. Get some Dummy Plugs. You'll need to have one in each card so it thinks it's connected to a monitor. That's another requirement for full hashrate. Get this compatible DDR4 Ram. Older board means that you can't just buy any cheap off the shelf DDR4 ram and hope that it works. Might be cheaper on eBay. And there you go. Honestly I wouldn't spend the $$ on a mining frame for a 4 card rig like this. If for no other reason than that cooler is a BEAST and mining frames will set the mobo in the middle of the rig, so you don't have much space to spread out. You can build one from wood if you have the tools already. I used the dimensions in this guy's video to build mine [link] [comments]
msiafterburner start by command line select gpu and profile? Posted: 03 Jun 2021 08:41 PM PDT I already know how to select a profile via command line, however, how do you select the GPU and the profile for that gpu? I cant seem to find this anywhere Thanks in advance [link] [comments]

Best place to buy PCIe cables for GPUs? Posted: 03 Jun 2021 07:02 PM PDT Looking for PCIe 8 PIN to 2x 8 PIN cables, in Montreal if that helps Is this the best / cheapest option? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07HCYDK5K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_EVK5GC5TBSSK2EZNFNCY [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jun 2021 03:51 PM PDT Does anyone use an air cooler to cool the room their rig is in? Emphasis on air cooler though, one of those evaporative things instead of an air conditioner. How effective is it if you do use one and any advice? [link] [comments]
Dual purpose mining machine, bad idea or just ok? (Vs new mb, cpu, ram) Posted: 03 Jun 2021 09:11 AM PDT So as of now i turned my main "server" (windows 10 really) pc into a mining rig (3080s and 1080tis). I have raid arrays attached to it (usb) for both plex streaming, media and documents/files etc and a single 7200 rpm drive for some. The one raid array acts as a backup plus backblaze. I guess the downside is, that if i go to too many cards/watts, i wont be able to easily have battery backup (for now the 1500va does fine), main goal there is graceful shutdown. Has anyone dual purposed a machine and had a horror story that might sway me in the direction of just finding the cheapest motherboard + ram + cpu combo and leave the server be? Only thing i can think of is worst case theres a bsod due to an overclock issue with one the video cards, but that should be manageable and not very often. (or a mishap and fry something but hopefully the 7200 rpm drive and the raid arrays wouldnt be affected) [link] [comments]
How hot should a server psu get. Posted: 03 Jun 2021 03:08 PM PDT Currently it's 94 degrees right above my rig in the closet I keep them in (it's vented but I probably need to invest in a tent) and I noticed that the HP platinum server psu in spots is almost too hot to keep my hand on. It's also strapped to a wood frame should I be concerned? [link] [comments]

Am I missing something? All 3080 TI are missing LHR from marketing material Posted: 03 Jun 2021 01:24 PM PDT I just posted this comment in the r/nvidia 3080 ti megathread. Thought i should post it here too: Just going to point out, in their blog post announcing the mining limiter, nvidia said that "LHR" would be in the marketing material of limited cards. "Clear Communication to Gamers Because these GPUs originally launched with a full hash rate, we want to ensure that customers know exactly what they're getting when they buy GeForce products. To help with this, our GeForce partners are labeling the GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti cards with a "Lite Hash Rate," or "LHR," identifier. The identifier will be in retail product listings and on the box. This reduced hash rate only applies to newly manufactured cards with the LHR identifier and not to cards already purchased." NOT A SINGLE LISTING FOR ANY OF THE 3080 TI CARDS ON NEWEGG HAS ANY MENTION OF LITE HASH RATE IN ANY PART OF THE MARKETING MATERIAL. Honestly this is just disgracefully bad. Either they are limited and arent following through in making sure its in the marketing material or the first batch is not limited and more are to come. The first is exceedingly likely. You HAVE to be transparent about this kind of thing. People buying these cards need to know that. Even if a gamer doesnt choose to mine to pay off their card, it affects the value of their asset later if they ever try to sell it, and it is still not certain if the mining limiter hurts any professional applications. Not every miner or gamer follows nvidia blog posts closely, so it really is necessary for it to be in the product description. [link] [comments]
