PSA Warning: Dear noobs, please remember, bitcoin[dot]org is malicious and is trying to trick newcomers into buying a fake Bitcoin!

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 12:01 AM PDT

The scammers at bitcoin dot org need to be called out once and for all.

The very first thing it says on the home page? "Bitcoin is an innovative payment network and a new kind of money."

Bitcoin is a payment system? Are they talking about BCH? Because BCH is the payment system. BTC is a store of value, remember? Payments are dumb, remember? "Bitcoin is a horrible, horrible payment system" (Samson Mow, Chief Strategy Officer). Remember?

Reading further, they claim "Fast peer-to-peer transactions" and "Low processing fees." That's BCH. The BTC team LITERALLY scoffs at using BTC for fast, low fee peer-to-peer transactions. They literally advocate using Visa instead! And BTC is the slowest, most expensive crypto on the planet! In fact, the vision is that it will become as slow and expensive as chartering an oil tanker.

Past that, bitcoin dot org hosts the Bitcoin white paper - which describes Bitcoin as a "Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System." Again, the white paper is describing BCH, not BTC. BTC is not an "Electronic Cash System" and in fact BTC maxis laugh at the idea of "peer to peer cash." The white paper goes on to describe many features of Bitcoin that have been abandoned by BTC, including a graphic that shows the chain of signatures (no longer descriptive of BTC w/segwit), statements like "For our purposes, the earliest transaction is the one that counts" (which is no longer applicable to BTC, which prioritizes the highest paying version of a txn, not the earliest one), and descriptions of SPV (which BTCers reject in favor of keeping the entire history).

The kicker? We all know that BTC is being marketed as a "store of value." My friends, the words "store of value" don't even appear on the home page of bitcoin dot org.

It's very clear what is going on. Bitcoin dot org is squatting on the Bitcoin brand, pitching the benefits of BITCOIN CASH, and calling it "Bitcoin (BTC)."

It's a complete scam designed to trick noobs into believing that BTC still works like Bitcoin did from 2009-2017 (and how BCH still works). They hear about Bitcoin CASH, but then they go buy BTC. In a regulated market, bitcoin dot org would gete shut down and sued out of existence.

    DEMANDS

This community formally demands the following from the owners of bitcoin dot org:

    • remove all language related to "payment systems," "peer to peer transactions," "fast" transactions, "low-cost" transactions, etc from the web site, and replace it with language appropriate to BTC's new vision (ie "store of value", "digital gold," and "high fees for increased security.")

    • remove the Bitcoin e-cash white paper from the web site, and/or replace it with a new white paper that describes the updated vision of the BTC project since 2017. The title should read "Bitcoin (BTC): a Store of Value" or something similar. Having ceded the vision of Bitcoin described in the white paper to BCH, it's entirely inappropriate to continue using that document to describe the BTC project.

IF YOUR IDEAS FOR BITCOIN ARE SO SMART, THEN HAVE THE COURAGE OF YOUR CONVICTIONS. PUT YOUR VISION OF BITCOIN ON YOUR WEBSITE, INSTEAD OF HIDING BEHIND A DESCRIPTION OF BITCOIN CASH.

Binance blackballed in UK, ousted from Ontario, jabbed again in Japan: "Meanwhile, Ontario threatened Binance with a securities trading ban (as well as a raft of fines) last Friday. In response, the Cayman Islands-based platform will leave the province altogether as of December 31 this year."

Calling Bitcoin Cash "the true bitcoin" (or whatever) doesn't help anyone.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 08:57 AM PDT

It doesn't make BCH get adopted more, and it just confuses new users.

When someone hears about Bitcoin, and they decide that they want to buy Bitcoin, they want to buy the Bitcoin they've heard their friends talk about, or that they've seen on the news, or (god forbid) saw Elon Musk talking about. Whether or not they're misguided is besides the point, they want the Bitcoin that pretty much everyone they talk to calls Bitcoin.

Words and their definitions change. The definition of a word isn't based on what the first person who ever used the word thought it meant, it's based on what the general public believe it to mean, and they have decided that Bitcoin Core is Bitcoin. Now by calling Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin, you just confuse new users, and worse yet, if they buy BCH thinking it's the Bitcoin they've seen in the news, then find out it's something different, they'll probably be very resentful towards Bitcoin Cash and it's community.

Instead of trying to convince new users that Bitcoin Cash is "the true" Bitcoin (which just confuses them), maybe try to explain to them the merits of Bitcoin Cash, and why Bitcoin Core has failed as peer to peer electronic cash.

So, definitions change, the general public view Bitcoin Core as Bitcoin, calling Bitcoin Cash Bitcoin confuses new users, and probably hurts adoption more than it helps.

If bitcoin cash is better than bitcoin, why doesn’t global hashrate reflect that?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 08:17 PM PDT

It would seem to me the people investing hundreds of millions of dollars into hardware and electricity would be mining for BCH instead of BTC if they also thought it was the better crypto. Thoughts?

Double Spend Proof now available via bch-js

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 07:22 AM PDT

In November, BCHN added an RPC command for double spend proofs (DSProofs). This allows wallet developers to check for a double spend. Here is the canonical use-case that I discussed with the BCHN devs:

    • A merchant sells an item and receives a transaction in their wallet for payment.
    • The merchant's wallet should wait 3-5 seconds, then check to see if a DSProof was generated.
    • If no DSProof was generated, the transaction is 'good'. If a DSProof was generated, then it's a double spend and the transaction is 'bad'.

Here is the documentation for the new DSProof endpoint in the bch-js JavaScript library:

The interactive Explorer UI can let you play directly with the bch-api REST API offered by FullStack.cash. You can put in a TXID and see if it generated a double spend proof:

Central bank maximalists will try ridiculous mental gymnastics to avoid admitting that they're still slaves to their banks and need the government's permission to spend their money. Don't listen to them.

Is there an ElectrumX server for BCH?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 12:20 PM PDT

It looks like all ElectrumX server implementations for BCH are not supported anymore.

https://github.com/Electron-Cash/electrumx - is discontinued. They refer to use the main code from: https://github.com/kyuupichan/electrumx But since May 2020 they removed all the code except for BSV.

So what can one use to run a server in order to use Electron Cash connected to own server?

Has any body sold BCH directly from the bitcoin.com wallet to your bank account? How long did the transfer took? Which bank did you use? As I understood it's just for European banks who operate with SEPA.
