UPDATE: My 10x RTX 3070 rig, now with better cooling!

    Posted: 04 May 2021 10:09 PM PDT

My First Crypto Mining Rig, running at ~125MH/s on ETC. All components purchased second hand from ebay, allowing me to get a MUCH better price-to-performance ratio than if I bought a single 30 series at scalper prices. Full build cost less than $2,200. Not bad for a college student.

Switching hiveos from a flash drive to ssd reduced stale shares significantly?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 08:14 AM PDT

Yesterday i switched my rig from a hiveos flash drive to a hiveos ssd. I can't find anything online about it but it seems to have significantly dropped my stales from 2% to .5%.

Do you all think this is actually a viable way to reduce stales? Also for anyone using a flash drive it's worth a try.

Assistance with 240V Server Power Supply

    Posted: 05 May 2021 07:23 AM PDT

First I would like to thank anyone involved for their assistance with this. However, please refrain from discussion about profitability, I am aware of the risks and have my eyes on 5+ year growth.

I am hoping to expand my personal 6 card classic Z-390P mining rig to something closer to 14-20 cards. Everything will be 3070s, so assuming a contingency of 200w per card at 14 cards I'll consume around 3000-3500w with additional equipment.

I am going to install two separate 30A 240V circuits in the hopes of powering two 2400w server power supplies from Parallel Miner.

I am getting confused about supplying 8pin power to all of my cards and risers. If my math isn't awful, at 14 cards I'll require a total of 42 8pin connections due to risers correct? Can I safely use split cables? Most of the breakout boards I see on Parallel miner are 6pin, but I was under the impression that 6/8pin are not interchangeable due to load capacity, is this correct?

Assuming they are interchangeable, I do not see anyway to get 42 connections out of two power supplies while still powering motherboards and peripherals. Do I need to add a 3rd power supply? I feel like I may be overcomplicating this. What is the most efficient way to run two 7 card rigs without burning my garage down?

Once again thank you for any input.

    Dual mining ETH and ZIL

    Posted: 05 May 2021 05:39 AM PDT

I'm using Teamredminer on HiveOS and have dual mined ETH and ZIL on other pools, such as Flexpool. However I have in the last 24hrs switched over to ethermine to compare income, but I cannot for the life of me get the config right to mine ETH with ethermine and ZIL with rustpool.

Has anyone managed this and could share their config/flightsheet please?

    Many thanks in advance.

TBH, I recommend getting x8 p106-90 for 144€ compared to AliExpress you pay 10€ more and get only one GPU.

RTX 3080 & RTX 3060 Ti For Mining in a Gaming PC?

    Posted: 04 May 2021 07:44 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I got into PC gaming recently and bought a 3060 Ti (full PC specs will be listed below). I just discovered the magical world of GPU mining about a week ago and have some extra money sitting around that I'd like to invest into a 3080. My goal is to be able to leave my 3060 Ti mining while I'm gaming off of the 3080 (and mine on both while the PC is otherwise idle). Will I be able to do this without a performance hit (heat aside)? My motherboard has one PCIe 4.0/3.0 x16 slot and one PCIe x4.

    PC Specs:

    Motherboard: X570 Aorus Elite Wifi

    CPU: AMD R5 3600

    RAM: 2x 8GB 3600MHz

    Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow

Current PSU (will be upgraded to 1000W if I get a 3080): EVGA Supernova 650 GA

    Fans: 4 intakes (3x 120mm 1x 140mm), 2 exhausts (1x 120mm, 1x 140mm).

Current GPU: EVGA 3060 Ti FTW3 Ultra

[Edit: Corrected PCIe x8 to PCIe x4]

My RTX 2080 Super Gaming Trio temperatures mining ETH in Nicehash + My MSI afterburner config. 39-42 MH/s @ steady 50ºC die temperature and steady 63º VRAM temperature. Glad to see my card working at such temperature

For those using grow tents, do you keep duct fans inside or outside the tent?

    Posted: 05 May 2021 01:21 AM PDT

Currently have some outside the tent with about 4ft of duct going into tent. Just wondering if its messing up with the efficiency of my calculations.

Doing 1500cfm on a 2x2x4 tent exhausting 2000w of power. Everything working good but the hottest day was only 92f. Expecting 110 by next month

2Miners SOLO Anomaly: Would like explanation / feedback

This miner got 2 blocks within the first 24 hours of coming online with ~2GHs: https://solo-eth.2miners.com/account/0x97365fff06fe9a79c233481020938d940432b231#farms-tab

No other transaction history other than a small binance transaction 3 months ago: https://etherscan.io/address/0x97365fff06fe9a79c233481020938d940432b231

His workers keep jumping back and forth between pplns to solo: https://eth.2miners.com/account/0xd6754878ff68dae7e227a36706a1c51f1ab4a6e1

Is this extraordinary luck, is it 2miners scamming their miners, or someone exploiting the pool?

    Bad riser eli5

    Posted: 04 May 2021 10:44 PM PDT

So had my 4 gpu rig chugging away no problem. Everything dialed in for max target hashrate and close to watt etc in a proper 12 open frame setup. Added a new 3070 gpu today at the end. Everything flawless then notice the 2nd card in my old 1070 that used to get 26-27mhs at 120-140 watts was limping along at 21 no matter what oc setting. Keep in mind didn't touch this card only added the 3070 at the far end. And that was chugging away as expected at 60mh/s. Tried to go thru all possible oc etc/ bios setting/ wires properly seated. to make sure compute didn't get messed with or p0 everything checked out. Watched on gpuz that it would not seem to want to go over 90w on dagger. Memory load would cap out at like 70-80 Kaprow it would do 140 so I figured can't be the wires if another algo will pull full watt

Finally went fuck must be the riser and decided to swap it out with a fresh one I had. Everything back to normal at 27mh/s the fuck happened? Riser looks ok no burned out caps nothing looks amiss. Are they just built that poorly that they would fizzle out randomly and kinda half ass work???

3060 ti is THE BEST mining card ever.

    Posted: 04 May 2021 10:53 AM PDT

3060ti is the holy grail of cards. İt has great eth performance(60 mhs when overclocked) plus it gains almost the same revenue from shitcoin mining unlike ıt's AMD counterparts.and it has great wattage use (around 130 watt) which puts it at a higher ground than 3080 and 3090.
