Ethereum is a no more a “coin” than the iPhone is a “phone”. It’s a platform. Posted: 08 May 2021 11:46 AM PDT Perhaps the biggest benefit of this cycle is not the valuation but the recognition of what ETH is and it's departure from BTC economically and culturally. [link] [comments]
Wanting to be a little pessimistic before I bet the family farm on more ETH Posted: 08 May 2021 05:29 PM PDT Hi all, I have a decent ETH holding and my average cost is around $950. I am ready to put more money in even at these ATH prices because it seems as though ETH's rise and dominance is inevitable. My only question is this, tell me why it wouldn't work? Tell me why it would be a bad idea to buy more at these prices. The only thing I could think of is if Cardano and polkadot go balls out and steal a huge market share from ETH but I don't really see that happening this year. Be pessimistic for me please! its a fun investment exercise :), thanks! [link] [comments]
I bought ETH on PayPal. Is that a dumb thing to do. Posted: 08 May 2021 01:32 PM PDT I started buying ETH a couple of months ago on PayPal. Just $20 to $30 at a time. It just kept going up and up. So we came into a little bit of money and I asked my husband if we could buy a share or coin of ETH. I wasn't even sure if PayPal would let me buy that amount but it did. So now I own a little bit over a coin and now I'm worried that I bought it on the wrong platform. Everyone is talking about wallets and it you don't have one then you really don't own it anyway but can still buy or sell. Do you think that I should have bought it from somewhere else? I still want to buy one more if it goes back down a little bit (if that actually happens) and want to know should I get a wallet and buy from a different site. Thanks for anyone answering my questions. I appreciate it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 May 2021 03:03 PM PDT It has been amazing to watch the fantasies I had as a kid involving the digital world come to fruition. I will admit I have been a bit ignorant to the advancements in technology pertaining to a digital world, but now I am fully aware...we have arrived. Happy to be a part of this community, and humbled by Ethereum and the implications that crypto will have on our day to day lives. [link] [comments]

If Hardware Wallet Malfunctions, Breaks Down or Gets Lost? Posted: 08 May 2021 11:38 AM PDT What can be done if you accidentally lose hardware wallet like Ledger Nano or Trezor? Do you automatically lose your Ether and Bitcoin? Hardware wallets can also malfunction and break down preventing access to coins. In this case, what do you do? Is Ethereum and Bitcoin lost forever or is there a way to get access to your crypto again? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 May 2021 07:42 AM PDT Hey all, I'm looking to get a hardware wallet but I'm struggling to see the difference between the lesser expensive and the more expensive hardware wallets. For example the Ledger Nano S vs Nano X. Could someone please explain? Is it simply because they support a more diverse variety of crypto? I only own Eth and Btc as of right now. (Edit:) Just watched an amazing explanation video on YouTube here's the link for anyone else wondering about hardware wallets as well! https://youtu.be/aPprQUQljHE [link] [comments]
A potential use case for decentralized communication (DeCom) Posted: 08 May 2021 05:28 AM PDT Hi all. I'll start by saying that I am extremely new to crypto. My greatest achievement in coding was creating a reset button in Microsoft's VBA on Excel so bear with me. I'm spit-balling an idea here so constructive feedback on the idea is welcome! While I was reading about the various use cases for blockchains in general, and ETH in particular, I was intrigued by the ability to develop Dapps beyond traditional financial tools, including decentralized communication (DeCom). One of the most challenging things about communication today is the various platforms that don't play well together. Historically, if I wanted to call Aunt Ethel, I would pick up the phone, dial a numeric code specific to her, and we would get connected regardless of our platforms. We could use completely different service providers and it didn't matter. The phone would connect. It is the same with text messages, voicemail, and email. They are almost entirely agnostic when it comes to providers. But video calling platforms are not. A Zoom call can only be received on Zoom. Same with Google Duo/Hangouts, FB messenger, WhatsApp, etc... You don't necessarily need an account to receive the call with Zoom and a few others, but you do need to get on their platform. For people who don't adapt quickly, like Aunt Ethel, this can be an issue. Does DeCom offer a solution to this? Could I pick my favourite video calling Dapp, the way I choose my favourite wallet, and use it to connect to someone else's favourite video calling Dapp for real-time communication? What are some of the biggest hurdles to making this a reality? FYI, I've looked into some DeCom resources but haven't been satisfied. If you could direct me to some good ones, that would be appreciated. [link] [comments]

Decentralised Identity Network Posted: 07 May 2021 09:46 PM PDT One of the rarely expressed use case of the blockchain is decentralised identity and access management. The recent rise of DAOs and fundraising platforms have ignited the discussion again... And this time, it's one of the elephant in the house. I recently come around Hypersign.id and truly amazed by the work from the team. Passwordless authentication, for example, is one of the many real-world use cases. Imagining authentication without password is revolutionary. There is NO token sale at this moment, however, I encourage you to have a look at the white paper and beta app. It has received recognition from Harmoney and Aeternity.
