The coming BCH upgrade is in one week already, but let's think forward and discuss the one after that to see the ideas for one year for now!

    Posted: 07 May 2021 12:42 AM PDT

first of all some links about the upcoming May 15th upgrade: article by Bitcoin.com https://news.bitcoin.com/bitcoin-cash-slated-for-may-15-upgrade-to-bring-improvements-for-users-and-merchants/

video explaining in depth what's happening: https://youtu.be/NO4PH0FipYM

What I've heard floating around for next year are ideas related to the smart contract capabilities of BCH. General Protocols wrote a great article on 5 obscure and relatively easy to fix limits of the Bitcoin Cash scripting system. https://read.cash/@GeneralProtocols/raising-the-bar-on-bitcoin-cash-upgrades-ae04238f#appendix-what-kind-of-limits-does-bch-scripting-have

These make it very hard to develop useful smart contract applications for BCH or even impossible because of constraining limits. Raising the limits should be easy (after testing that it is safe ofcourse) but BCH is also missing multiplication, a unified number encoding and native introspection.

It would be ideal for BCH to get a thriving developer ecosystem but it's still too hard and too complicated.

There are two main proposals, which are not mutually exclusive , to add miner validated tokens to BCH. One is Group - a proposal for a hardcoded token standard- and the other is Cashtokens in the form of a third transaction format (also called pmv3) which allows everyone to develop their own tokenstandard akin to ETHs ERC standards. Just like for ETH smart contracts and tokens go hand in hand. SLP tokens are awesome but can't be used in smart contracts because they are not miner validated.

The third transaction format proposal has the advatage of combining the previously mentioned unified integer format with a simple and elegant tokensolution and cleaning up the wasted space in transactions and making them more efficient. Apparently there's even an obscure problem for developers with malleable transaction parts still that it would solve to remove as many headaches from developers as possible - this is how we get a thriving application space.

Very interested to hear what other people see as being planned & worked on for the next upgrade, or some things others really want to see!

Exchange asked for KYC, dragged me through hell. Turns out it was an EXIT SCAM

    Posted: 06 May 2021 11:07 PM PDT

Today I tried to check in on the status of my KYC-hell account with IDAX (long story as to why I would use such a shit exchange). Last year they had asked me repeatedly for more and more KYC documents, each time I was told the documents were "insufficient to verify my identity". I gave up at some point and just wrote off the 0.2BTC they were keeping hostage. Turns out, they exit scammed a few months later! And I'm realizing now that they figured "why not drag this exit scam out for awhile AND collect as many passport images and full names/SSNs while we're at it"!

KYC is a SCAM, whether it's done by governments or scammers makes no difference.

    Bitcoin Cash :)

I used to be BTC maxi, but things have changed now.

    Posted: 06 May 2021 08:14 AM PDT

The first I first came into crypto world, was briefly before the BTC / BCH fork. I had zero idea of any technicalities, how does this magic internet money works or what was it made for. After the fork I had both BTC and BCH as I thought it was cool to have any kind of Bitcoin.

Prices started tumbling down, I cashed out. Fast forward to august 2020 I had a lot of time and decided to listen to some podcasts about Bitcoin as it was starting to steam. I've had around 2000 hours minutes of podcasts mainly from one Guy and learning tons of things about economics, current status, history of money, technicalities of Bitcoin, the blockchain, the energy consuming issues or all the scenarios of Bitcoin being banned, you name it, I've listened almost everything possible on topic crypto and Bitcoin. I was thrilled. I came to a point where all started to get clear to me, so I've put some money to BTC made some more money and started to read about diversification and De-Fi.

I've seen now and then talks about some kind of a trend going on, people hating on BCH, saying it's fake Bitcoin and what not. Then I've read about the drama between the both subs here on Reddit. Since I had Bitcoin and never used BCH after I've sold it at the end of the last bull market, I thought to myself that these people are fighting over some BS, but still was kinda BTC maxi.

Lately I've started seeing how toxic the r/bitcoin community was towards this sub and in general. My opinion started shifting with time. It felt like a fight between siblings about something absolutely dumb and pointless.

The last drops for me were today when I started the newest podcast of the guy I learned so much about everything and he was ripping his arse off to protect bitocoin with all he's got. Going as further as calling everything except Bitcoin a shitcoins, comparing BCH and ETH with DoGe. This guy was pure toxicity, I couldn't listen to him anymore. I went on Reddit and wrote a comment asking "what about BCH?" And my comment got removed immediately. These people don't realize that the only thing they do is that they hurt themselves and their "untainted" network with all that BS.

I've made some profit from CoinBase's rewards and today I've swapped all of it to BCH. Next dip - I buy more. Now I am one of you guys even tho I still hodl BTC I do believe that BCH is the way!

The king is dead, long live the king.

TLDR: realized how toxic is BTC community towards BCH, also realized BCH potential and got myself some stack.

I work on a minesite, guys range in age between 20 - 65. Everyone and their dog has heard of Bitcoin and crypto, and everyone has their coin they like, whether it be ADA, XRP or BCH. But no one is banking on BTC, it's old news and even though some of these guys don't know what market cap is or how it works, everyone knows you're not going to double your money with BTC.
