BCH has a very simple goal but not everyone understands that. They're always working themselves up about the price. The goal is to gain more users and make it even more useful!

    BCH vs BTC

    Posted: 08 May 2021 02:39 PM PDT

I must say, I'm currently hodling BTC but the more I look into BCH, the more enticing it gets. Like most people I'm no crypto/blockchain expert and my incentives for hodling crypto in general don't extend much further than (hopefully) generating some wealth as well as the opportunity to be part of what I believe to be the future of finance - decentralised peer-to-peer transactions with minimal fees. Now if we assume that the majority of the crypto community have similar incentives, I am truly amazed at how people continue to glance over BCH and instead incessantly pour their money into the high fee, low reward alternative that is BTC. All I'm saying is I'm glad that I happened upon BCH as I now know the power of negligible-fee transactions - which I'm sure most of the BTC community have never experienced. Rant over.

    SmartBCH questions

    Posted: 08 May 2021 05:54 PM PDT

I have no knowledge on ERC20 tokens or anything Ethereum related.

Will SmartBCH allow you to make tokens? I have kind of a meme level idea and thought creating my own blockchain/coin was way over the top.

I'm assuming there are some documents I can look into?

Update: This week we delivered 2,579 lbs (1.17 tons) of food to people in need in Venezuela. We're truly grateful to everyone of you.

    Posted: 08 May 2021 10:20 AM PDT

You guys made this possible with your contributions in Bitcoin Cash and other cryptocurrencies, along with our small team of volunteers that are working very hard every week. People in my community, our families, the team and myself are very thankful for your help, for funding this project, sharing our publications, and for participating in our updates.

More than 1,000 people has been benefited from your contributions in cryptocurrencies. Most of them are children, and older people who are unable to work and are suffering the impact of the humanitarian crisis that has affected our country for years now.

A total of 4,4 tons of food have been given in total to people in my community. All of them are in a dire situation, many of them are older people who are unable to work. I'm proud of our work and I wish to continue to help people with bags of food.

    Not confirmed after 2 hours?

    Posted: 08 May 2021 08:08 PM PDT

Hey guys I sent a small amnt of BTC from Coinbase to a online merchant. I have done this before without issues. I copy pasted all the information and triple checked everything. But the confirmations arent going through at all. The payment processing screen after about 12 minutes of waiting for the thing to update and see the transaction, I closed it by accident. Did that end the transaction and Is this where i lose my 300? Edit: The $300 of btc is no longer in my coinbase acct. But the value is still showing up in my portfolio. The asset only shows 4k. But the total portfolio is showing the 4.3k Despite there being no other currency on the account

    thought on regulation

    Posted: 08 May 2021 02:45 PM PDT

Just want to get this out there. ...Gamestop stock had 2x - 3x the number of shares shorted - regulation is supposed to prevent that. Banks, hedgefunds, ect have received bailouts from taxpayers - thank you regulation. Bitcoin and crypto ecosystem survived pandemic without any bailout.

What is it that is so appealing about regulation ? Many bitcoiners are championing regulation - what are the outsized benefits of a regulated ecosystem ? Is it the utopic world regulation has created or an expectation of better next time around, that regulation of the crypto ecosystem promises ?

The only thing the CI cryptomining abuse we've been seeing lately proves, is that pursuing ASIC resistance was a mistake

    Posted: 09 May 2021 12:24 AM PDT

(In case you somehow missed it, the Internet is full of pages discussing the thing, so much that i couldn't pick a single source to use reference.)

Then again, i am seeing some parallels between this and the evolution of email, which could once be sent without any form of authentication through an open mail relay server. Perhaps, all technology is doomed to go through the same phases.

Come to think of it, the concept of a CI service itself seems rather naïve; just imagine receiving a patch from somewhere and immediately running it on your machine without auditing it first, or even checking what it does! But you can be sure it's cryptocurrencies that will be named as the reason we can't have nice things.

Looking to get in touch with people in Lebanon who use BCH and were able to cash out to fiat or even use BCH directly. I’m based in Switzerland and bumped into a friend who ran a crowdfunding campaign using PayPal. I’m suggesting BCH and would like to ask some questions :-)

    Posted: 08 May 2021 11:00 AM PDT

Background: I'm an international student in Switzerland. Someone I know was involved in the Basel X Beirut campaign after the catastrophic port explosion last year. I just bumped into her and we spoke a little about the campaign. I suggested BCH as a cheaper and more efficient way to send the crowdfunded money to those it is supposed to ultimately reach.

Her first question was "will they be able to use it? Or can they cash it out to USD or their local currency?"

Mind you, there's hyperinflation with the local currency so alternative currencies like BCH could be a real solution. I was told PayPal has been banned in Lebanon so it was difficult for the people in need to receive the money and the campaign ended up using Western Union which is very expensive.

Anyone from Lebanon who has experience with BCH? I would like to connect you with the campaign.

I'm not affiliated with the campaign but can easily connect you with them.

My idea is to introduce the campaign to BCH and have them teach locals in Lebanon how to set up a wallet so that they could receive their relief funds directly.

If you're from Lebanon and have used BCH.. let's get on a Zoom call :-)

Has anyone had any thoughts about promoting the use of alternate currencies in their home town?

My buddy and I were thinking about going around our town in nsw and speaking to business owners about accepting btc/bch etc.

It's just an idea atm so we haven't figured out logistics or anything, but I was just wanting to hear thoughts from all of you.

I know of travelbybit but maybe you have some other companies that could assist the transition for these companies?

    Thanks!
