Cooling a 3080s VRAM with fans?

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 08:34 AM PDT

As usual my 3080s vram temps get to 100C while mining, I was wondering what I can do to lower that without taking apart the card. Would a fan or two work? Also can I just lower the power settings

I am looking to write up a white paper for fun and want to try to break the mold, thank you for your opinion feel free to talk about crypto coins, algorithms, hard and soft forks, pos, poa, pow, pot etc

    RX470 mining edition driver issue

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 07:19 AM PDT

I have RX470 4GB mining edition cards which I'm trying to run in Windows. But I can't get the drivers to work. If I install the latest driver when I try to open the AMD software I just get the error "No AMD graphics driver is installed or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the appropriate for your AMD hardware"

I have also tried installing an older version 17.7.1 but that has the same error. The cards show up on device manager, but with the yellow triangle. I have tried updating the driver there as well which gets the triangle to go, but still unable to open the AMD software and unable to change any of the settings on the cards in MSI afterburner

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS they work fine in HiveOS but I need to run them on Windows 10

RTX 2070 doing the same hashes as RTX 2080

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 05:00 AM PDT

RTX 2070 doing the same hashes as RTX 2080

So i have 2 GPUS in my main system rn, GPU 1 Rtx 2070 from Zotac GPU 2 RTX 2080 from Asus.

    Settings : 2080

    -100

    +1150

    80% pwr

    Settings : 2070

    -100

    +850

    80% pwr

How is it possible that the 2070 only does 2mhs less than the 2080 ? Sometimes they even do the same ammount.

    Windows boot “main gpu”?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 09:48 PM PDT

So I use two GPUs in my main rig for mining 24/7, a 1060 and a 3070. Usually I'll leave the displays plugged into the 1060 to act as the display adapter and keep all the MH on my 3070, however, depending on which GPU the monitors are plugged into when I boot my computer, windows sometimes "shares" the rendering work. What I mean by this is even if I have my monitors plugged into the 1060, it may have some 3D rendering going on with the 3070 along with the 1060, which nets a much lower hash rate. Does anyone know why this is?

Any idea what kind of rtx 3080 implementation this is and does it reach 96MH/s without modding ? (from a pre built acer orion pc)

help with setting up hiveOS and viaBTC

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 07:16 PM PDT

Mining with 2 GPU on PC. One getting full hash rate, while the other only half. EVGA 3060.

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 06:50 PM PDT

I have the 470 driver. Both cards are using display port connectors. One is getting 48 hashrate while the other 24. I am using the MSI x570 tomahawk mobo. Am I missing something? The only difference for the card is that, one card is EVGA Black, while the other is EVGA Black XC.

I reinstalled the driver with clean install checked. What am I missing to fully unlock this 2nd card?

Issues using ATX and Server PSU on same rig

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 03:16 PM PDT

I'm having a frustrating issue with Parallel Miner's X11 breakout board and my EVGA 850W PSU. I tried running the peri cable from ATX to the molex input on the x11 and the rig attempted to turn on but the CPU fan just remained still and motherboard was off even though the GPU fans were running (GPU powered by X11, motherboard powered by ATX).

Then I tried hooking up a 4 pin to Molex adapter to the Peri ATX Molex cord and the same thing happen - rig attempts to start, GPU runs, no CPU fan or motherboard power. Anyone have any ideas?

RX 6800XT and Smart Access Memory

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 10:09 AM PDT

Did anyone had luck getting more than 62-64 mh/s for 6800 and 6800XT? I've seen some video but even with SAM activated, I can't get past 64 mh. There is no difference.

I've configured the Bios accordingly (BAR Support and Above 4 g decoding), can see in Windows device manager lage memory range, but still, nothing.

If you were able to get 72mh/s with SAM, what is your configuration? What pice version? How many lanes (16x, 8x, 4,x ..)? Are you using a riser? ...

In my case, I run on a MSI x570 with an 3900X and a 6800XT. The processor should be compatible according to AMD.

    Thanks!

GPU Mining after the Ethereum Fork

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 11:08 AM PDT

Mod please remove if not on thread So there's a lot of talk about the London hard fork due soon. There is an expectation that miners will be paid considerably less. As much as half.

My question is: Since crypto is here to stay, what are the chances something new (Doge etc) emerging anyway, so the considerable investment in rigs will simply find a new income source?

If not I assume we are going to see RTX cards demand drop off.

    Has anyone tried cudo miner?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2021 08:37 AM PDT

So I heard cudo miner is basically NiceHash but you can pick what you get paid in instead of just bitcoin. I wanna get paid in algorand and was wondering if it's more profitable doing it through cudo miner or should I just keep mining through NiceHash and just convert the bitcoin I make to algorand?
