Why we won’t be needing banks and financial institutions in the near future

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 03:36 PM PDT

Traditional investors used to put their money in banks or financial institutions to earn interest on their deposits but those investors don't really know where their money is being used or if bank management are involved in risky investments beside that banks literally charge fees for doing the bare minimum but we are lucky to be living in the growth of cryptocurrency, for example you can use a platform such as DIFX to buy cryptocurrency and trade in stocks, forex, and more commodities while having your money insured and secured.

Portfolio Strategy: I ran multiple backtests that show a rebalanced portfolio of the top [10, 20, 30] coins can substantially outperform Bitcoin

    Overview

Hi everyone! I love using data to better understand the crypto markets. I recently analyzed the performance of holding the top [10. 20, 30] coins rebalanced monthly such that no coin has more than a 10% allocation for 2017 and the current bull (in progress). I started with writing a bunch of python code only to stumble upon a tool that does this (https://pandaanalytics.com/index), its absolutely fantastic!

    Results

    • 2017: Jan 1, 2017 - Feb 1, 2018
      • Top 30 rebalanced monthly had 125x return at peak relative to 19x return for BTC. Top 20 was close at ~115x and Top 10 at ~90x
      • Top 30 rebalanced weekly had 168x return at peak relative to 19x return for BTC. Top 20 was close at ~150x and Top 10 at ~115x
    • 2021: Dec 1, 2020 - Apr 20, 2021
      • Top 20 rebalanced monthly had a 6x return in early april with Top 20 and Top 10 close by
      • Top 20 & Top 30 both had ~5.3x return in early April with Top 10 close by as well
      • DeFi Top 20 had a 9x in early April while Top 10 DeFi had ~7x return.

    Conclusion

    • 2017: Jan 1, 2017 – Feb 1, 2018
      • Top 30 >Top 20 > Top 10 > BTC Only
      • Top 30 weekly added an extra 43x over monthly (168x vs 125x) at peak
      • Majority of gains happened at tail end of 2017 run (Dec – Jan) when BTC market dominance fell from 70 to 35% in 45 days)
    • Dec 1, 2020 – Apr 20, 2021
      • Rebalancing approach start to exceed buy & hold on Apr 1 (corresponds with fall of BTC dominance (60% to 50%)
      • Top 30 & Top 20 exceed Top 10 (but not by much). This may change if BTC dominance continues to trend down
      • This may be a great time to try this strategy since BTC dominance is >50%
    • There are tax implications in some jurisdictions with this strategy (e.g. short term capital gains)

We always talk about FOMO, but almost nobody talks about ROMO (Regrets On Missing Out). Almost all of the crypto naysayers in my life seem be sour about not participating in crypto early enough, not necessarily having issues with crypto.

    Posted: 27 Apr 2021 03:21 PM PDT

They'll never buy in, because it will always be too expensive, and their ROMO will become more and more sour.

My best friends tear down crypto on the regular, but it seems more out of jealousy than true distaste for it.
