    Nvidia Memory Temps

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 05:00 AM PST

Just passing along something that I learned this morning. HWinfo displays memory temps for 10, 20, and 30 series NVidia cards. If your hash rates are lower than you think they should be or start high, then begin to dip down, check your memory temps!

Gigabyte Gaming OC 3mm thermal pads on both sides replacement

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 02:33 AM PST

I havn't tested it yet but as far as my gpu goes, it still looks as if there is a little space with only 2mm thermal pads on the front. I used 2mm on front and 2mm on back of my gigabyte vision oc 3080 and it is now pushing 102mh/s stable when it was doing 70 before. The gigabyte gaming OC still is sitting at 60s,70s and thermal throttling even after replacement.

Does anyone know if my idea will work in using 3mm pads for both sides? I swear there looks like there is a little bit of a gap still when the card is together. anyone else have this issue?

What is the deal with the endless fake eBay listings?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 11:31 PM PST

Is there some explanation about the phenomena of fake listings on eBay? There are many examples of this now where the only thing being sold are printed images. Lately they are adding "PNG Edition" to the listing titles. The only real listings are ones with a hand written note.

This has always been a thing on eBay with hot items, but doesn't this completely fly in the face of eBay seller policy? These listings remain active for a long time and I don't get how these people aren't having their accounts put on suspension.

It's not even a question of fraud as they are obviously openly describing exactly what they are selling: an image of the video card printed on letter paper. eBay's terms specifically address this practice and it violates several of their policies.

The reason I ask is because these aren't just zero feedback sellers. It seems like this is regularly being abused not by scammers, but by established sellers with positive feedback ratings, citing that it's a scam or bot deterrent, but I don't get who's scamming who. For whatever little it might be worth, I report these listings, but it doesn't matter because they don't stop coming.

I know eBay does not have a sterling reputation for policing this, but these are pretty popular items with higher than average transactional prices. Are this many people really openly jeopardizing established selling accounts with disingenuous listings?

    4 x RTX 3060ti Mining Rig

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 04:26 AM PST

    Hi All

Thinking of putting together a basic mining rig based on 4 x RTX 3060ti GPUs and have some questions:

    1) I notice there are lots of specific recommendations around desirable motherboards. I think this mostly focuses on quantity of PCIE slots, but as I'm only looking at using 4 GPUs, is there anything I need to be mindful of? I'm currently considering an Asrock B460 Pro4 which has:

    ----2 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slots (PCIE1/PCIE3: single at x16 (PCIE1); dual at x16 (PCIE1) / x4 (PCIE3)*,

    and:
    ---- 2 x PCI Express 3.0 x1 Slots

It will be paired with PCI-E x1 to x16 Risers and a Celeron G5905 CPU.

    2) Can I use the aforementioned PCI-E 1x to 16x Risers on a PCI x16 slot (so I don't need plug any GPU directly into the mobo?)

    3) My single RTX 3060ti currently draws around 130w@60Mh/s. I'd think a single good quality 1000W PSU should suffice for 4 x GPUs, but it looks like most PSUs (even the 1000W ones) have 4 x 8 pin outputs. I'll need 8. Would it be safe to split each of these 8 pin outputs off with a suitable adapter? Or should I just use 2 smaller PSUs?

    Appreciate the guidance!

    ASRock H110ProBTC+ > 5 nvidia GPUs?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 07:30 AM PST

Hey all. I know in the ASRock H110ProBTC+ manual it says that it can handle 5 NV gpus max, but there are posts from the last boom where people are running more than that. Is anyone doing that now (and on HiveOS?) I was planning on going with 8 5700 XTs and 5 3060s, but 5700 XTs have become hard to fine at non-insane prices. Can I just stick 3060s in this rig and be done with it? If I end up having to pay mild scalper prices, I'd rather pay them on 3060s that'll hold their resale value better. Thanks in advance!

    Building a RX 580 8GB Rig

    Posted: 27 Jan 2021 03:33 AM PST

Hello guys, I started looking for parts to build my RX 580 8GB rig and I was thinking of the PSU, I saw on google that a RX 580 8GB has around 185W TDP, I'm planning to start with 4 of these cards, these cards require 740W in total, let's say later I will get 2 more cards since my motherboards supports 6 GPUs and that would be 1,110 WATT. I've heard that you should go a maximum of 80% watt usage that PSU supports, which means I need around 1,375WATT PSU to be able to support these 6 GPUs in the future, but I didnt count watt usage of other parts. Am I doing it in the correct way? Should I have a 1000W PSU to support 740W of GPUs or I need more?

120 volt 20 amp power meters?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 08:40 PM PST

Are there any suggestions for 20 amp 120 v power meters? I was hoping to find a smart plug, but all I've found is 15A. I'd rather not do manual tracking, but I'm open to ideas.

My 3080 EVGA XC3 Black with no backplate has no problem mining 99mh/s but now that hwinfo shows mem temp I wanted to add some pads and a heatsink to see if it helped.

    Don't waste your time.

Which pool to mine ETH on?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 05:02 PM PST

I'm back again. After tonnes of reading and playing around. My 580 rig is pulling around 180mh/s. Thanks for all the help and pms all.

But now I see my accepted rate (on nicehash) is like 60% of what the potential MH/s that displays in hiveOS and I know it's depending on a lot of things but I've decided to make a new flight sheet for ETH aside from nicehash.

    Currently using u/2miners

What is everyone else using to get the best return. From what I read i should be making an extra $2-$3 a day by not using nicehash and mining a different pool. Its just hard to know because nicehash gives you so much instant info.

    Thank you all in advance
