Why space GPUs so close together? Posted: 29 Jan 2021 07:19 AM PST I am building my first mining rig, and I'm seeing GPUs always placed 2" or less away from each other, and recommended to build that way. If I have a longer rack that allows more space, shouldn't I utilize that? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jan 2021 07:14 AM PST I am new to mining and am having some issues with losing megahashes. I am running an open air rig using windows 10 as the OS, with an Asus prime z-390, 8GB ram, i7 9700, and 2 MSI Gaming x Trio 3080s, and a Thermaltake Platinum 1000W psu. Both gpus are connected using pcie x 16 risers When I have just one of the cards running I am getting roughly 85 Mh/s, but when I plug the second one in it only increases to 100 mh/s total. Trying to figure out why I am getting so much throttling when I plug in the second card. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]

Help with getting AMD/Nvidia Dual Rig to Run in HiveOS Posted: 29 Jan 2021 04:29 AM PST Build: Motherboard: Z390a ProRAM: 4GBPSU: 700W x 2CPU: Intel Celeron G930GPU's: 5600xt x3/ 3080 x3 OS: HiveOS, most recent version EDIT: USING PHEONIX MINER CURRENTLY Good morning guys, I've got a build that I've been working on with my dad and we're having some issues with getting it to be stable/running the nividia cards now too. I had it stable and running well with the 5600's, and we got the splitters in to power the 3080's a few days ago, so we hooked it up last night. However, I've got 1 3080 that isn't reading (Assuming that it's likely a bad riser at this point) and two that I haven't been able to get to start mining. Is there anything specific I need to do on the flightsheets to get an AMD/Nvidia rig to mine? Or will I need to separate these two and build only one manufacturer's chipset in the future? Thanks for the help, everyone! [link] [comments]

Won't cranking up my memory too high damage it? (rtx 3070 gaming oc) Posted: 29 Jan 2021 02:42 AM PST I've set power limit to 50%, fans to 50% and mem speed to +1200 which seems most people have similar settings, it had 100% acceptation during the night with 60/61 mh/s and ~55c temp but for it crashes even at +900 in games(of course with 100% power limit) so I wonder if it's not a safe OC for this card will it damage it? Anyone running 2666mhz ram on a Biostar H110 BTC? Posted: 28 Jan 2021 10:53 PM PST The motherboard "Supports 2-DIMM DDR4-2400/ 2133/ 1866 up to 32G". I'm aware higher speed memory will underclock as long as its the same 'DDR' spec, but I'm now reading I may need to manually underclock via bios. I'm hoping I can just plug and play with an 8GB stick rated 2666mhz. Can anyone with this particular mobo chime in? Cheers! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jan 2021 09:28 PM PST Just getting into mining. Only have mined out of standard computer cases before. My collection is growing to the point where I need to construct a mining rig. I have all the hardware I need... except for the frame itself. I have looked on eBay/Amazon/Newegg for mining frames, but they all have awful reviews. What is something I can do about this? I have about 6 cards that need a home. [link] [comments]

Yet another 3080 thermal pads replacement [Results] Posted: 28 Jan 2021 09:27 AM PST So I followed this guy's tutorial on replacing thermal pads of Gigabyte 3080 Vision OC and I am shocked with results. I wonder why would anybody cheap out on thermal pads on high end GPU. Hashrates: Right after buying my 3080: 85-90MH/s at 100% fan speed (+500 Mem OC) Before: 69-76 MH/s at 95% fan speed with constant temp limit (+450 Mem OC) Just after this operation: 80-95 MH/s at 60% fan speed without triggering temp limit, voltage limit, load limit (+1000 Mem OC) I could probably push it some more, but at the current voltage curve it crashes at anything over +1000 so I just left it like that. The best thing is that I can now sit in the room while mining, that GPU on 95%+ fan is obnoxiously loud, especially that I am using my PC with the side open. 60% is okay, I may be able to sleep without ear plugs for now. I am wondering if my big ass CPU cooler helps to dissipate heat from the backplate as it stays reasonably cool (65*C). I will probably add some small heatsinks too there one day. Posted: 28 Jan 2021 05:36 PM PST I'm planning on getting 4 cards that each require 1, 6 pin pcie cable. The whole rig will be around 850w. I don't want one too expensive, $150 is the max. [link] [comments]

Swapping from nicehash to flexpool, is it worth it? Posted: 28 Jan 2021 09:20 AM PST Is it worth it to change to flexpool from nicehash? I really like the simplicity of nicehash, but would I earn more money on flexpool? My rig: two 3060TI and one 2080TI, and my average pay per day this week from nicehash is about 12 usd [link] [comments]

Atikmdag Patcher - Driver File Too Large Posted: 28 Jan 2021 04:20 PM PST Is there an updated version of this that supports the latest AMD Drivers? I searched and I couldn't seem to find a reputable source. Any help is apprecitaed, thanks! [link] [comments]
Issues when trying to wake monitor when using Phoenixminer Posted: 28 Jan 2021 10:02 AM PST Win 10, MSI GTX 1060 6GB, Corsair CX450, +770 Memory O/C, Phoenixminer. Power Settings: Sleep, hybrid, hibernate all Off. Hard Drive sleep Off. PCI Bus feature Off. Monitor turns off after 10 minutes. This card overclocks really well, +770 at 943mV, 50 degrees C. Very stable normally, but when trying to wake up the monitors, it either won't wake at all, or it will turn on the monitor, but freeze intermittently, and I will have to manually reboot the PC. HWInfo logs indicate that when this happens, GPU voltage reads 0.000 V and GPU Power reads 0.000 W for a period of several seconds or longer. Sometimes there is a CUDA error in the miner log. Sometimes there is no error. I can't replicate the issue if I try to wake the PC soon after the monitor shuts off. It only happens after the PC hasn't been used for at least 30 minutes. It happens with a less aggressive overclock as well. Anything I should check? [link] [comments]
