Different Trezor Wallet Options for Storing Ethereum

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 10:06 AM PST

    Hi Guys,

I'm just getting started with Ethereum and was curious about your thoughts on the best way to store Ether on a Trezor? When I open my Trezor, I'm provided with the following options...

    1. Trezor Ethereum Wallet (in beta)
    2. Trezor Suite (which Trezor states is supposedly going to be the default soon)
    3. A third party wallet (My Ethereum Wallet or MyCrypto are the two options)

I'm curious what the best method is and/or if there's pros or cons to any of them. Thank you!

I have some concerns about Ethereum which i haven't seen many people cover yet.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 08:20 AM PST

This post is about fees but not about the current gas price. This is a concern I have about L2s.

Before I start I feel obligated to say I'm not recommending any ghost chains here, I just want to discuss something i've been a little worried about.

Right now the gas price goes up when people are willing to pay a higher gwei to get their transaction to go through and the gas price drops when less people are willing to pay the current price. This is classic supply and demand.

If L2s become popular, the gas prices on L1 could increase exponentially.

Let's say market limit on how much people are willing to pay for gas is 500 gwei for example, L2's like optimism allow people to pay 1/150 of the L1 gas price. So the gas price on L1 could be 1000 gwei, while the price on optimism is still 6 gwei.

We could run into a situation where the market within L2s are pumping their gas price up to 50/100/500 gwei, making the gas price on L1..

    50 gwei in L2 = 7500 gwei on L1

    100 gwei in L2 = 15,000 gwei on L1

    500 gwei in L2 = 75,000 gwei on L1

This would make it virtually impossible for 99% of people to deposit into a L2 because the deposit is an L1 transaction.

TLDR; L2's offering 150 times cheaper gas prices could make L1 gas price pump to insane heights.

I understand Ethereum phase 1 would massively help remove this issue as L2s will have 62 times more head space thanks to being able to store data on Eth 2 chain. This certainly isn't a long term issue, just something I'm concerned about if Uniswap, snx and chainlink suddenly gain loads of users on L2 before phase 1.

Anyone willing to try an ETH game?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 10:00 PM PST

A friend of mine from Finite Games has developed a blockchain game built on Solidity. It's called RoShamBo [trailer] - a combination of the classic game Rock Paper Scissors and trading cards. Fortunately, they're now on Alpha and they're seeking for some Alpha testers. Here are some details:

    Mechanics:

    • There are a limited number of rocks, papers, and collectible cards. They have various levels of durability — with single-use being the most common.
    • The goal is to collect the most stars by defeating opponents
    • Cards and stars can be traded
    • In-game wagering with your stars, cards and digital assets are allowed
    • The time period for a season is limited

They're still developing the game to conduct tournaments in the future. Coming soon to Ethereum Network's Solidity, Tron Network, iOS, Android, and Samsung App Store. You can register for the Alpha here. Thank you, everyone!
