I spent and replaced using an Amazon gift card for the first time!

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 01:22 AM PST

I usually spend my BCH on chaintips or other use-cases, but I decided to try out buying giftcards with BCH. I used BitPay as the payment processor to buy a few hundred dollars worth of Amazon credits, and the user experience was pretty good. BitPay uses 0-conf for the payment despite it being a somewhat high value payment (which shows that 0-conf itself is pretty safe), and I was able to redeem the balance immediately.

How may I purchase a google play gift card with bitcoin cash (BCH) outside of US?

TIL USDC exists on multiple blockchains and now I'm wondering why it doesn't exist on BCH as a SLP token

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 02:52 PM PST

Does anyone know why BCH was skipped over in favor of coins I've never heard of like "Algorand"?

    https://medium.com/centre-blog

I know USDC can be frozen/blacklisted and BCH doesn't offer those kinds of "features". My only other theory is that I've heard that SLP tokens are not miner enforced and I honestly don't understand what that means. Could that be the reason?

Just a reminder in the new year don't forget to check for old coins.

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 10:39 PM PST

Just because you split your coins doesn't mean you might not have more to split. Someone might send you some that haven't been split. This is especially true of sites like read.cast memo.cash and member.cash. Just checked my addresses again and had another .52 BCHA and even .01 BSV show up.

BTW a great plugin for electron cash would be one that checks all receiving addresses for coins on other chains.

“Did you know that #AnyHedge contracts are private until settled? This has an interesting side effect, that if you want to speculate with a large amount of money you don't show your hands when you start a contract and thus won't move the market until after your contracts settle.”

    Where do I start?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 01:54 PM PST

Among plenty of others, I've been interested in crypto lately and I want BCH to be the first cryptocurrency I buy. I've been trying to research on how to buy my first BCH but there's so much information out there, its overwhelming me. Can anybody tell me where to start?

My opinion and experiences on what can be the best crypto as a payment system

As an Iranian who has been living on cryptos and does not use banking unless absolutely necessary, I have shared my ideas and first-hand experiences on cryptocurrencies: https://noise.cash/u/PersianLibertarian

I thought it might be interesting to you. Here is a summary of my experiences with different coins:

Dear Ethereum, You were cool after Bitcoin fees skyrocketed but later you became just another BTC. I once had a nightmare paying by ETH and had to double-spend my transfer and use a higher fee or it would have been stuck in limbo. It hurts so much that ETH is struggling with fees. BTC is a joke here. They deliberately want high fees?! Sometimes I still cannot believe that is reasoning by an adult. Litecoin? Nope. The fee is still much as I can buy a loaf of bread with just the average fee. For me the fees should be less than 2 cents.

Dear Liquid, rest assured that I will not use your solution as an Iranian. I know that I am not allowed to do so and I do not want to make you upset over it at all. Tether? No thanks. Other centralized stable coins will not be used either. I only use stable coins when the recipient demands so. It is too bad that DAI is unusable because of high fees on the current Ethereum. Dear Iota, you have a beautiful solution but your coordinator needs to die by the coordicide ASAP. Also, I once saw a pop up saying that I am in a region that cannot use Iota. If it was not by mistake, shame on you Iota! Dear Nano, BCH and others alike, you are great and will be usable unless the development team(s) declare that they intend to adhere to certain (external, ahem) rules and I cannot use their solution. Nano, you are great but please add a memo field to your payments, and develop more tools like a good point of sale app. Also don't be afraid to include privacy in your solution.

While some famous cryptocurrencies are not usable in my opinion, there are still many good coins. BCH is my main currency. It shines in many ways: region-agnostic, decentralized dev teams, 0-conf payments as instant transfers, great PoS solutions, privacy addons and awesome UI/wallets are what make it a joy. I need to praise Tron here as well. The free (albeit limited) value transfers are awesome, the transfers are fast and cheap, and its DeFi pools are my only place for acquiring stable coins with low fees when needed without disguising myself.

I wish advancement for all of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin Cash.

    Understanding bch mining/fees

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 02:12 AM PST

    Correct me if i'm wrong..

    1. Each block mined , the reward is 6.25 bch (CoinBase block)
    2. Fees are < 0.01 usd per transaction considering everyone using 1 sat default fee. If there is 200 transactions in a block thats $2 mining reward
    3. If someone sends $1 in bch fee is 0.01 usd. If another person sends $10,000 in bch, fee still 0.01 usd ?
