Posted: 31 Dec 2020 04:56 AM PST I live in Ireland where the weather is temperamental at the best of times. We could have a mild sunny day one day and then the next day gale force winds and rain to rival the Amazonian jungle. It never gets terribly hot even in summer - wouldn't ever go beyond 28c. Right now the room I intend to use is stone cold. I'm setting up a fairly large rig at my parents' place and I am trying to figure out what to do about ventilation. I aim to have at least 15 GPUs in the room consisting of 5700 and 3060Ti cards. Would there be any possibility of running this amount of hardware in a room with the door closed and no forced ventilation? (I'm expecting a resounding no) And if I did this what kind of ambient temps could i expect - would it get up above 40c? No one will be occupying the room, so as long as temps aren't high enough to risk a fire or hardware damage it should be ok. There are two draughty windows with small air vents in them and that's it. I cant really leave the windows open long term as they will just get damaged when it gets windy. Also I won't be at the property that often so opening and closing daily is also not an option. Effective speed much higher than actual speed??! Posted: 31 Dec 2020 05:31 AM PST Mining one rx 5700 on windows 10 [awesome miner, phoenix miner], I forgot to open msi afterburner (for undervolting purposes), so the card is running at stock but it's getting 50 mh/s locally and in effective speed (at the pool) it's getting 80 mh/s. This couldn't be , right?? edit: mining ethereum [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Dec 2020 05:25 AM PST I have seen some videos on youtube on how people are using proxies to their advantage of getting a higher chance of mining a block solo. I couldn't find any information on how to setup one and theres little to information out there. If anyone with experience in this could you please get in touch or at least guide me in the right direction. Thanks 🙏🏻 [link] [comments]
MSI Armor RX 570 8GB OC BIOS help needed Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:41 PM PST I've build an 8GPU rig using the MSI Armor RX 570 8GB OC, Win 10, and I'm pounding my head on getting decent hashrates out of these cards. Out of the box, the GPUs were running only 24 MH/S. I've gone through the BIOS flashing a number of times, most times ending up with the machine crashing. That said, I've managed to get the hashrate to 25.5 MH/S based on the follow bios: current bios I've attempted to use the polaris one click on the 1750s to 2000, but no luck. It seems that only copying the 1500s up to 2000 is the only thing working. WTF is going on here? What am I missing? I know I'm leaving 3 to 6 MH/S on the table per card... and I need to get those MH to really make the most of this. Note - Finding specifics bios settings for mining on this card has been near impossible for me - but I could just be an idiot since I'm new to this. I appreciate all the help. [link] [comments]
Trying to get started mining ETH but don't really want to Nicehash Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:34 PM PST I'm going to be mining on my personal gaming computer, and I don't know if giving total control to a company in the crypto space is smart when I do online banking, etc on here. Now I want to get started mining ETH, but I have no idea how to. I've been searching through guides, trying to figure out how to just download the blockchain, and then I'll need to find a pool to mine into? I downloaded mist but it says there is a checksum mismatch in download node and to install Geth node version 1.8.23 manually. I'd love to get started mining but this is a bit over my head. Are there any easy to follow guides out there for a noob that doesn't want to use nicehash? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Dec 2020 02:07 AM PST Hello not new to crypto but fairly naive on the whole mining part. I've used things like nice hash and what not but have never really stuck with it. Wondering if it would be better to solo mine coins or join mining pools/ keep with nice hash. any sources or incite would be much appreciated. computer specs: 1080ti, i9 9900k, 32gb cl16 3200mhz ram. How to get started mining with 5700xt\5600xt Posted: 30 Dec 2020 10:19 PM PST I've never tried mining with gpus at all but I have a 5700xt and 5600xt and I figured I might as well leave them running while I'm at work so I can put it to use. I'm just not sure exactly what I do. I've tried looking up videos but it all seems really confusing to me. Is there anything settings I have to mess with or any undervolting? How do I go about cashing in what I mine to my bank account? What program or tool do I use to mine? [link] [comments]
Can I mount pci risers and still use the pcie lanes on the motherboard at the same time? Posted: 30 Dec 2020 06:10 PM PST I have recently set up the foundation of several rigs, and the cards are slowly coming in due to pandemic delivery times. I was wondering if it was at all possible to run 2 -3 cards on the PCIe channels on the motherboard, and then add new ones via a riser to sata power. A bit of a redneck setup, but I was just curious if that can work, and if there would be pros and cons to doing a hybrid setup versus the traditional rig where all cards are on risers. I have cheap electricity, but low startup capital. Where should I start? Posted: 30 Dec 2020 02:39 PM PST I'm a "hardware enthusiast" but I have more knowledge than actual hardware. I'm currently running a well-cooled GTX 1060 3GB (will always regret getting the 3gb even three years later) but I obviously need more horsepower. Should I just go for the best GPU deals, or is there something more to it? I can get a 1050ti for $50 🤷 [link] [comments]
phoenixminer 5.4c hashrate slower than phoenixminer 5.3b Posted: 30 Dec 2020 10:02 AM PST I have been using phoenixminer for months with my Radeon Vii when 5.3b stopped working for me last night, i was able to get a consistent 90-91MH/s but when i restarted the program it refused to connect so i downloaded 5.4c which gets me a hashrate of 80MH/s. why did the newer phoenix slow down my hashrate and why doesnt 5.3b let me mine on it anymore, it gave me the error of a (clsetkernalsrg -48). Its had standard AMD bios this entire time. im adding two more radeon viis to my setup next week also [link] [comments]
New Mining Rig - 3060Ti vs 5700xt Posted: 30 Dec 2020 11:30 AM PST I'm going to be building my first dedicated mining rig. I have ordered everything apart from the GPUs, I had planned on doing a 6 x 3060ti rig but now I'm contemplating 5700xt rig. I can get them for around £400-£450 each for Sapphire Nitro + 5700xt, maybe a couple cheaper used if I get any good deals. Else it'd be £450-£500 for 3060ti. When I can eventually get my hands on them. If 5700xt I'd be looking to start with 3-4 initially and then over couple months finish off. My electricity rate is 14.88p/ KW/hr - in UK Here are the Rig specs so far. CPU - Celeron G3900 - £25 Used ebay Motherboard - Gigabyte z390p - £50 Bought off friend Ram - 8GB DDR4 - Will take out of my gaming PC as have 32GB which is more than plenty for my use SSD - Kingston 120GB - £17 PSU - EVGA 1300w G2 - £175 - Refurbished ebay (best deal I could find) Frame - Lfhing Steel open air miner 6GPU - £49 - amazon I have a 3080 currently which I'll be mining with alongside to boost mining income to pay towards last 2 cards. Undecided which ones to go for, any help would be great! [link] [comments]
Am I being financially irresponsible or are critics just ignorant? Posted: 30 Dec 2020 04:38 PM PST I've got large student loan debts that will eventually need paying off, and I revealed on another subreddit that I game and mine on my RTX 3070 and plan on selling it for a decent price on eBay whenever I get ahold of the 40-series in 1-2 years. Some people took issue to the fact that I bought a new "luxury" GPU despite having lots of debt, and that I'm being irresponsible and just digging myself further in the hole. Some rough math tells me that I only paid $235 for the card, after factoring in the GTX 1080 I sold, and the $50 profit I've made mining crypto in the short time I've had it so far. The RTX 3070 is going to be worth more than $235 when the 40-series launches, and in the meantime I'll be mining crypto at a rate that far outpaces student loan interest on $235, so... why are people acting like I'm a clown here? Are they just salty I have a card and they don't? Did I miss something or do people not understand long-term investment strategies? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:48 PM PST I have only been mining with one card, so I'm new to this. How would you go about mining with two 3060 Ti's... just plug into mobo and the miner recognizes both cards after setup? I'm assuming it's possible but heard that SLI was discontinued for everything but the 3090. Would also consider using this computer for gaming here and there... so I guess you could use one card only to game but two for mining? Sorry for the newbie question, I appreciate the help! Building a gaming pc/gaming rig Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:54 AM PST Hi guys, I planning to build a gaming pc/gaming rig which I will be also using to mine. I am planning a built setup initially with two rtx 3060ti and slowing buying more graphic cards. I will be using it to play games and video editing. I have a budget around 1500€, based in germany. Electricity is free of cost. What configuration should I go for. Assuming the price of gpu around 500€. Is it worth it?What suggestion would guys give a noob like me. [link] [comments]

PhoenixMiner on HiveOS won't work Posted: 30 Dec 2020 01:28 PM PST Hi. I have recently expanded my rig to a couple more 5700XTs. I now have 8 5700XTs, a 5700 and a 5600XT. I had always been using Phoenixminer since it have me pretty good hashrate and so on. This time when expanding (added 3 5700XT and the 5700) it seems that if I try and use the Phoenix flightsheet it won't work. In the command it will boot and pretty much immediately say "Emergency Remount r/O" and just keep rebooting. I have tried what Hive calls "the latest" version of Phoenix as well as 5.3b. What's weirdest though is that if I use Teamredminer it does work just fine. Trouble is however, that the hashrate is a little bit worse with teamred, so I'd like to go back to Phoenix. I haven't changed any config or anything. I did however do a fresh install of Hive on a new SSD i bought along the 4 new cards. Any ideas?? [link] [comments]
What happens when 4gb DAG is surpassed Posted: 30 Dec 2020 01:20 PM PST Not sure if it has been reached yet, but will the rewards improve by any chance? Seeing as the hashrate for ETH is 50% from 4gb boards... less mining better rewards? [link] [comments]
A cheap machine with Thunderbolt 3? Posted: 30 Dec 2020 01:15 PM PST I'm fairly new to mining. I inherited an Nvidia GTX 1070 in a Thunderbolt 3 enclosure from a family member. Did a lot of reading about all this works. Admittedly, I still have a lot to learn, but I have got my laptop up and running with nanopool using nanominer. I've discovered that this GPU is pretty good at mining Ethereum. I'm hoping to get my first payout in my eth wallet in just over a week or so :) But this new passive income has generated a problem: My laptop has become tied down to my kitchen table with this large box containing this awesome GPU in it. I want to be able to use my laptop, like a laptop! What is the cheapest machine out there with a Thunderbolt 3 interface that will happily mine bitcoin all day with my GPU whilst being in a cupboard under the stairs? [link] [comments]
Can't Get Drivers Installed for Sapphire Rx470 Cards - Previously Worked Fine Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:15 PM PST I have a couple of professionaly built (2007) mining rigs that each have 6 RX470 Sapphire mining only cards (no video output). One machine had each card hashing at 31MH's and the other one was only doing 24 even though it's the exact same setup. I figured I would install the new Radeon software and move each card to compute mode to see if that would help. Well after I did that, Windows 10 64bit won't load drivers for any of the cards. I'ved used DDU to uninstall the drivers in safe mode and tried 3 different versions of the radeon driver software, including the original download I found. I've tried it with all 6 cards plugged in and with only 1 card and I can't get anything going. (Each time I boot into safe mode and do the DDU). What else can I try? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
