Tip: send small amount to wallet first to confirm everything is correct

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:44 AM PST

I keep seeing people messing up their transactions and losing it. Well easy way to prevent that is to send small amount first to external wallet and once its there, with second transaction, send leftovers. This will cost you some extra on transaction fees, but at least you are making sure you are not losing your crypto.

Cheers, wish you all great next year!

Unpopular Opinion: ETH needs to be simple to understand if you want adoption any time soon.

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 08:01 AM PST

The advantages that DEFI and smart contracts have for the leveling up of our society are undeniable, but most people aren't technically profficient enough for it to be practical for them.

In my own layman's opinion, the best way to approach this is to incentivize businesses to use smart contracts. Doing business over blockchain would help shift crypto from being a highly volitile asset that most people only hold hoping for profit, to a store of value that is actually logical to exchange hands.

I think adoption on the firm level must come before general population. There is no reason for 99.9% of people to have eth if they can't pay bills, shop online, or buy groceries with eth.

Also, eth needs to be usable for people who don't understand computers and networks on a deep level .... Because most people don't.

Are there any projects going on that are using eth to create business applications?

We took a tour around the dark forest to see how many generalized frontrunning bots are out there

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:36 PM PST

    Spoiler alert.. a lot.
We go frontrun on transaction trying to gain as little as 0.03 ETH, on contracts we have just launched.

How to Make $122,000 Per Year by Ethereum Mining

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:10 PM PST

Looking for the best way to buy and hold crypto as a long-term investment

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:02 AM PST

I'm newer to crypto and have been mainly doing research and reading until a month ago when I made my first purchase. I love the long term prospect of crypto and would like to start dollar-cost averaging as a decent percentage of my portfolio.

My question is this: because I'm not looking at day trading, what is the most efficient, safest, and lowest cost (regarding transaction fees) to buy and store crypto? I'm open to any platform, but it would be nice to make the transactions automated. My crypto investments are going to be BTC, ETH, possibly one other (LINK?). Debating on XRP while the price is bottomed out.

    TYIA!

More secretEther users needed! Privacy fans unite.

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 01:13 PM PST

So The Secret Network Ethereum bridge is live.

First off I am not affiliated with The Secret Network. I'm an advocate for privacy and have used tornado.cash since inception. This is another option for Ether privacy, cheaper but more complicated that tornado.

There is currently 148 ETH locked which means that right now it is not that secret, we need a larger pool for more privacy. Whole Ether amounts increase the anonymity set as well (0.1,1,2,3,etc.). It's great to see different projects improving privacy on Ethereum (even if it is cross chain!)

    Read more here: https://scrt.network/blog/secret-ethereum-bridge-is-live-on-mainnet

    Use it here: https://bridge.scrt.network/

Would like to see more use and interest in the project, hopefully others can try it as well.

    ELI5 Layer2 evolution in ETH / ETH2

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 08:46 AM PST

    Synthetix is doing a L2, Loopring is a L2,..

    1. will different smartcontracts share the same general purpose L2?
    2. L2 will always mean you need to pay ETH gas to fund or withdraw from L1 ?
    3. Will all the smartcontract be on L2 in future?

    Should I stake?

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 02:02 PM PST

Hi everyone, I think this is the most suited sub to ask this on.

Should I stake my ETH? I don't have 32 ETH (Not in the slightest) but I use Kraken and kraken supports staking ETH with < 32 ETH. Kraken even lets me unstake my ETH (sort of) by creating a trading pair for Staked ETH and unstaked ETH. This seems really interesting and it would reward me with a couple bucks each month. Now here come the big questions:

    • Is there any risk in losing my ETH (partially or entirely) by staking it on Kraken?

The next question is Kraken related but here it goes:

    • Am I able to transfer the rewards earned by staking ETH to regular ETH using the trading pair?

    Thanks!
