Got my ETH and tokens stolen, but no clue what I did wrong

    Posted: 27 Dec 2020 12:52 PM PST

It's not a post to whine about the loss of a large sum of money, ~$3500, but rather an attempt to try and never make the same mistake again. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to investigate my PC/browser history and so on.

standard story: checked my acc via Etherscan, found out that someone transferred 3 token balances (the biggest ones obviously) to another acc.

I have used only uniswap, and defi swap by cryptocom (the perpetrators didn't clean out my liquidity balance and i saved it), both via Metamask extension on Firefox.

No other interactions with my address I can think of during the last month or several months!
Scanned the PC with windows defender, malwarebytes antimalware and drweb cure it - both came up empty-handed + (yes i got stupid and lazy) I literally had an excel file on my desktop called password - none of the centralized services OR my email are compromised.

So I conclude that either the criminals had access to my unprotected private key or... ? But can I in any way track where and when I gave it away?

what are the pros and cons of migrating a coin to the Ethereum blockchain?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2020 02:53 PM PST

I'm part of the development team for an altcoin that transitioned to proof of stake at block 370,000. We are now considering migrating to the Ethereum blockchain and tokenizing the coin. What are the pros and cons?

    Cryptotab is a scam

    Posted: 27 Dec 2020 03:44 PM PST

I was helping a friend that got scammed earlier and I believe Cryptotab was the culprit, a browser that supposedly lets you earn Bitcoin.

This wallet has been draining wallets for 3 straight days, hundreds of thousands of dollars. Has to be a pretty big scam to get access to this many wallets and Cryptotab was the only thing my friend had used that could have gotten his seed phrase. I've been working on it for hours.

The scammer routed the TX around a bit but it ended up here

Eth 2.0 Fair Value Calculation Suggestion

    Posted: 27 Dec 2020 02:22 AM PST

As we get closer and closer to EIP1559 and ETH2.0 coming out I have a simple suggestion for a way to get an estimated fair value of Ether and want your opinions on it.

    Eth2.0 with EIP1559 without Shards

I am assuming that Eth2.0 without Shards, with Eth1 merged into the beacon chain has the same TPS as Eth1

    Transactions Per Second (TPS) 13
    Transactions per year (TPY) 409 968 000
Fee per transaction (FPT) 2 USD
Staking rewards per Year 224394 Eth

    TPY*FPT/StakingRewards = EthPrice

    (409 968 000 * 2) / 224394 = 3654 USD

This would be the price where Eth stops being deflationary with the current Fee per tx, Transactions per year and staking rewards.

If we get 10 Million Eth staked it changes to 1673 USD

When shards are added the Tps is increased dramatically but Tx fee will most likely fall dramatically too so the total fee burn might stay similar in the beginning until more projects start up as a result of the lower fees and increased adoption. When adoption increases deflation also increases until reaching an equilibrium at a certain price.

    ETH2.0 staking

    Posted: 27 Dec 2020 10:56 AM PST

So I have decided to jump into the staking world. I have a some question about requirements.

    Here is what I found:

    Recommended specifications:

    •Processor: Intel Core i7–4770 or AMD FX-8310 or better •Memory: 8GB RAM •Storage: 100GB available space SSD

I want to run my validator nodes on a Raspberry pi 4 (8gb) here are the specs:

    Raspberry Pi 4 Model B - 8GB Specifications: Processor: Broadcom BCM2711, quad-core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz

    •Memory: 8GB LPDDR4

    •Connectivity: 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ac wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.0, BLE Gigabit Ethernet 2 × USB 3.0 ports 2 × USB 2.0 ports.

•GPIO: Standard 40-pin GPIO header (fully backwards-compatible with previous boards)

•Video & sound: 2 × micro HDMI ports (up to 4Kp60 supported) 2-lane MIPI DSI display port 2-lane MIPI CSI camera port 4-pole stereo audio and composite video port

    •Multimedia: H.265 (4Kp60 decode); H.264 (1080p60 decode, 1080p30 encode); OpenGL ES, 3.0 graphics

•SD card support: Micro SD card slot for loading operating system and data storage

•Input power: 5V DC via USB-C connector (minimum 3A1) 5V DC via GPIO header (minimum 3A1) Power over Ethernet (PoE)–enabled (requires separate PoE HAT)

    •Environment: Operating temperature 0–50ºC

could I run 2 validator nodes (or more) on just one device?

Is this a better option to run nodes and keep power consumption as low as possible or is there a more efficient setup I could use?

    Thank you 🙏

How can a dapp developer fix bugs after release?

    Posted: 27 Dec 2020 07:21 AM PST

Software always has bugs in it, or has scalability problems, so how can dapp developers change and maintain their apps' code after it gets on the etherium network? Isn't there a solution to this
