    Update: He's now advocating for building tools that allow people to do everything on blockchain b/c of its trusted data storage.

    Establishing a Universal micropayments standard like packets of data vs circuit switch data will get rid of negotiations and price gouging. Ex. First use case is like bits on Twitch.

    He also doesn't know why XRP is pumping. Maybe momentum trading, if so it may crash. He is baffled and would like economic explanations to it. He thinks maybe its just matching the movement of bitcoin. Most of the value is speculative. If utility grows it just fuels speculation. Like the value of tech stocks during the dot com boom.

    Banks are slow moving. Ripple is pushing towards more nonbank financial institutions like payment companies to use XRP. Enabling businesses to build a product around it, but the problem is growth marketing.

    The U.S is a mess with governance over regulating digital assets. He is hopeful with new middle administrations will be filled out willing to push for blockchain adoption. If an asset is both a commodity and a security regulations overlap.

    He is advocating for the industry to work together. If you are a bitcoin fan you can't attack Ethereum fans.

    I see people who are new here... I originally bought into ripple before I knew anything about any crypto. I was persuaded by others to buy. I bought 2,500 at $3.xx thinking I'll make money for sure. (About everything I had saved up)

    I held every cent of it until the beginning of this year.

    I regret it even more now. This stuff can make you really depressed, especially when you struggle with everything from money trouble to depression itself. So anyone who's reading this, do your research please and do not end up in my shoes.

    Invest only what you can lose and do your OWN research. DO NOT FOLLOW BLINDLY.

    I wish I could go back and save myself from the daily thought for years up to the point.

    Learn from my mistakes.

    UPDATE: eToro statement on Spark tokens

    In support of the continued development of the Ripple ecosystem, eToro is working closely with Flare to participate in its Spark token distribution to eToro's customers.

    Spark is the native token of the Flare network, a new blockchain protocol that enables the use of smart contracts for existing crypto tokens that do not natively have them. This will start with $XRP, which could open the network up to decentralised finance applications.

    On December 12th, 00:00 GMT, a snapshot will be taken of people holding $XRP tokens to decide how many spark tokens these investors are entitled to. eToro clients holding XRP on either the eToro trading platform or eToroX - eToro's crypto exchange - will be included in the snapshot and therefore will be eligible to receive spark tokens.

    The distribution for spark tokens is currently set to happen in the first half of 2021 and this is subject to change at Flare's discretion.

    I invested in ripple in 2017 at $0.20 right before the meteoric rise to $3.00 and bought a tonne more Instead of cashing out 🙃

    3 years on and minus a few short blips (including the one this week I'm wagering), the price has stayed around the $0.30.

    I'm wondering what you guys think will happen with the price in the next 3 years, do you see it staying flat?

    Should I move XRP from cold storage to hardware wallet before the Spark airdrop?

    I have come XRP in cold storage in a paper wallet since 2017. I recently bought a ledger nano (S and X). I plan to move my XRP from the paper wallet to my ledger, but I wander if I should do it before or after the Spark airdrop.

    Will the claiming process be easier while the XRP is still in cold storage, or should I move it before the snapshot is taken? Will there be an app to claim it for ledger nano users?

    Made and used a Toast Wallet, computer drive crashed, now have questions

    Hello and thanks for taking the time.

    I downloaded and used Toast Wallet on my PC and well my boot drive went tits up without warning. I had written down a passcode and a passphrase but I appear to not have anything else for it. Now I obviously can't download Toast and the web application doesn't like what I'm inputting.

    Just how fucked am I?

    Just migrated from Toast to XUMM, now do I own those 20 XRP reserve or not?

    Basically what the title says. I expected the usual 20 XRP held in reserve when I set up the XUMM wallet, so I now hold 20 XRP less in XUMM, but my old Toast wallet still shows the original balance. Could I still use Toast to send the full balance? What would in this case happen to my XUMM wallet?
