Worst mistake of my life (gas mistake)

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 01:24 PM PST

Hi eth community, today I made the worst mistake of my life and accidently paid an 18.9 eth gas fee on a uniswap Tx , that failed to cap it all off. No excuses I should've been paying closer attention and double checked before sending i know. I feel like shit it's devastating, as if losing my job wasn't enough.

I feel there may be nothing I can do at this point to recover it. It was mined by miningpoolhub , however upon emailing & checking all social channels they appear not to of been active in sometime. Even the other sub mod confirmed they had not been in contact with them since 2018.

I know sparkpool for instance has come to resolutions when these mistakes have happened but it seems mph may be a 1 man team and in the wind at that.

It's a longshot but if anyone here happens to know the MPH dev or a rep personally and can help alert them I would be eternally grateful.

    Recovering old Parity wallet

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 06:18 PM PST

Hi everyone - looking for a pointer in how do to sort this.

I have the keys, the passphrase, and even the recovery key.

What steps should I take to get control of the wallet again. Parity won't run and I can't get things going again. Can I install something else and be up and running again?

Super kind regards for any tips and tricks here.

Brainstorming on "registering" custom and decentralized (g)TLDs

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 02:22 PM PST

    Hey there ETH folks.

I'm just brainstorming with myself... Any thoughts on this idea? What if anyone can become a "registerer" and can register their own TLD, which in turn can be used by others to register their domains. The first thing in mind is easier addresses for ANY "cryptocurrency", NFT or whatever it is. And everything just based on the ENS, or Unstoppable, or other. ENS for a start.

Scenario: Alice, Bob, and Charlie. Alice decides to become a registerer and register the .alice TLD, the actual domain will be something like register.alice, or registerer.alice, or nic.alice. Bob loves Alice, and so decides to register his own domain to show his love like bobloves.alice. Great!Charlie is part of the LTC community (leadership) and they decided to launch a .ltc TLD, so everyone with LTC address can have a short username. So they do that and Charlie registers a charlie.ltc.

Am I too crazy? Or this sounds like an amazing idea - every cryptocurrency and token or whatever benefits, based on the good ol' Eth. Still didn't deep dive on the Unstoppable and ENS, but know some basics about them and DNS.

Check the tweet image for more, please. Not trying to drive traffic or anything, I'm just using more Twitter and Notion, not that active on Reddit.

    https://twitter.com/tunnckoCore/status/1330268631595413507

edit: Actually the TXT will also include the blockchain address, like

    name: ltc
    value: domain=charlie.ltc; chain=litecoin; address=LMUoim43jw...NoxA16NpMnQWXsAXpQ

    name: alice
    value: domain=bobloves.alice; chain=ethereum; address=0xA20C07F94A...cCe759225002

    name: bob
    value: domain=iamthe.bob; address=0xAC34...FeEEC312

While someone is registering a custom TLD he/she/it defines on what blockchain is based, defaulting to the Ethereaum's. Basically every blockchain will communicate with the Ethereum Public blockchain.

    Ethereum Total Supply

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 05:38 AM PST

Does anyone have a projection to what the total supply of Ethereum will be when it starts slowing down? I'm aware that there is no max cap, but wanted to get a an estimate to what number will be close.

    Releasing ENS names

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 10:14 AM PST

    Hey guys,

Im trying to release my old ens names from the registrar (im following nick johnsons gide)and i reached the step where i need to:

    1. Go to https://etherscan.io/ and enter your ENS domain name in the search box. Copy the "labelHash" value and paste it into the "_hash" field in MyCrypto's interface.

But i cant find the labelHash, it seems like etherscan removed this field.

    How do i proceed?

    Cheers

Does anyone have a projection of when Ethereum total supply will slow down to the point where it's near its max. I'm aware there is no fixed cap.

If you have at least one validator, is it possible to include your own transactions for free when you propose a new block?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2020 06:03 AM PST

I believe that if you're a (big) miner you can try to inject your own transaction for free when you're trying to mine a new block. Would this work for proof of stake as well? I assume you'll have to get lucky, so with a single proof of stake validator you might have to wait a few days before you get to propose a new block, but it would still be a nice perk for being a validator all by yourself.
