ETH2, shards and data - where will it be stored? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:17 AM PST Once phase 2 happens, we will have 64 shards, each with its own execution environment. And each shard will have its own state and history. My question is where will this data be stored and is it expected that the validators will store this data as part of their normal operations being incentivized through staking? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Nov 2020 01:15 PM PST Honestly, I'm a bit surprised at how much BTC has been wrapped and converted to WBTC over the past year. With the amount of Bitcoin being locked in each day, along with the potential price of BTC increasing quite a bit in the future... I imagine this could cause WBTC's marketcap to rise exponentially as well? Would this be considered a good thing or not so good or neutral? [link] [comments]

Who to contact about Mist browser? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:24 PM PST I understand that Mist has been discontinued. However, I have recently re-discovered account details for an account I thought I lost - well the "Identity Backup" hash and a series of words as a passcode. Either how can I use these to regain access to the account or who can I contact at the former Mist project in order to help me. Thanks for reading. [link] [comments]

Read contract state at specific block? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:49 PM PST Hi there, I've been looking around but can hit the answer for this. Basically, is it possible to call a smart contract function and see what result would it had yield at any block? like reading a snapshot of the blockchain at a particular point in time. Given the fact that the blockchain is an append only DB it should be trivial, and I guess it's possible to do so from the outside, but I'd like to do so from a smart contract, for example, I'd like to go to Uniswap and check the value of ETH/DAI had at a specific point in the past... Is this possible at all? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Poker smart contracts Without Rake legal Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:39 AM PST I have written a simple trustless heads up poker smart contract (currently simplified Leduc Poker game). There are no third parties just the two players and some software. I am wondering about legality of deploying this and of people using it. I understand that taking a rake would definitely classify the creator as a casino- but what if no rake was taken on games? Then what if instead of taking rake on games, you simply had to use a specific ERC-20 in order to play (and what if you the creator or any players made money on the price of that ERC-20 fluctuating on the open market)? I know the thing to do is get real legal advice, But I'm wondering what reddit has to say here. There was a long chain here about similar topics but I specifically am wondering about a structure where there is no rake, just a token. [link] [comments]
Comparing Eth2 Clients on the Medalla Network Posted: 01 Nov 2020 07:43 AM PST This is pintail's submission to the Medalla Data Challenge and they compare some of the important Eth-specific metrics on Eth2 clients any validator would need to pay attention to in order to monitor the health of the network and on the status of the clients. Here are some general points I was able to surmise after reading the submission:
Lastly, this submission was made as part of the StudyMaster program developed by the wonderful folks at r/ethstaker. If you are interested in learning about Eth2 or staking on Eth2 you should consider joining the free program. You can also receive a cool POAP if you complete the program. I know I have learned a lot. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2020 04:56 AM PST Hey guys, I recently read, that there is no limit in creating Ethereum. For example: Bitcoin is limited to 21 million coins, but you could mine ETH without a limit. Thats what makes me ask myself: why does ETH have a value, if you can farm it without a limit? Greetings from Germany [link] [comments]
