    Metamask Ethereum wallets missing

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 03:48 PM PDT

When I created my Metamask wallet I wrote down the seed. I created several new accounts under that main account. When I had issues with Metamask I deleted Metamask from Chrome. When I downloaded it again I imported the seed and it only shows one of my accounts. All my other accounts are gone with all my tokens. How do I recover them? I thought the seed holds all the Ethereum addresses created with that account

How do I know how much gas is left in an ethereum block?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 02:24 PM PDT

Is there a way to track how much gas is left before a specific block reaches its gas limit? Am I able to track the gas limit of the current block in real time?

I know there's a gas limit of 12.5 million, but that's really it.

Want to implement this as a tool in my bot to monitor gas/time limit before the block is processed. Any and all answers are appreciated.

    NFT ?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 02:59 PM PDT

Do you think a NFT for a song, EP or LP makes sense? knowing that you can get everyting for free on the internet ?

btw another question does a nft goes to an address and can be visualized without a specfic dapp? for exemple i go to etherscan or even myetherwallet with my ledger and i can make it or not public the gif, png, or the wav i just bought being a NFT

Some eth stolen, what should I do?

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 10:00 AM PDT

    Hi,

So yesterday I created an idex account, generated a wallet, got some bether and then got them out.
Funny thing, as I was getting out my bether, my eth balance was also transferred to some other adress :

    https://etherscan.io/address/0x7ae6bfd01850f9be2a56371b92aa953e7b63fbbd <- my adress
https://etherscan.io/tx/0x25f30ff9e67ad6e522b0cad201537d961d7a4f42bc561bc47b52fbdfa9f1d7db <- tx emptying my address

    it was 13$, I don't really care.

I did also "opened" my idex address with my ether wallet (the version you can run locally, that I got on github in their release tab), I did this to cancel some transaction that where stuck du to not using enought gwei.

Does this mean my computer is compromised?
Should I format and reinstall windows?

Everything was done with Chrome, the only extension I have is "Ublock origin" ad blocker (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm)

Full kaspersky scan says everything is ok.
Or was it some idex magic that took some eth for getting the bether out?

    Thanks.

[Question] DeFi - Over-Collateralization (OC) and Cryptocurrencies

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 10:35 AM PDT

    Hello,

I have a question depending borrowing money in the defi-system. Maybe some of you are into it and could answer me two questions.

I read that to have some safety as a loaner the borrower has to pledge some cryptos (a.e. ETH/BTC) which will be needed in case of default to pay off the loan. I haven't researched enough to see how % you have to pay on top of the borrowed sum but let's say you pay 4% on top of it.

    Case:

You own 150$ in ETH and you need 100$ to pay smth in reallife. You pledge your 150$ (150% Min Collateralization Ratio average) to be able to borrow 100$. If the ETH-price falls so much that you won't be able to pay of the loan + interest you have to repledge ETH or you will have to pay a penalty.

My first problem here is: Why would you even take a loan and pay 4% interest instead of exchanging 100$ of your etherum into $? This would be cheaper and you have no risk of losing money cause to volatilty. It would only make sense if you speculate and believe your ETH will be worth more soon so you don't want to exchange it. Otherwise you just made a bad deal. The whole concept of Over-Collateralization (OC) doesn't make sense with cryptos because they are so easy to exchange into fiat. It is not comparably to real-estate or cars or what so ever.

My second question is: What happens when the pledged Over-Collateralization hits rock-bottom and your pledged ETH is worth less than the loaned sum? What will guarantee the borrower that the loaner will really repledge some ETH? What hinders the borrower to not just ignore the fact and make a run?

I really hope to get some answers because these both things really doesn't make sense to me at all.

    Thanks for reading!

Licensing of Go projects using go-ethereum (LGPL) as a library

    Posted: 30 Sep 2020 07:48 AM PDT

If I use go-ethereum, as is, without any modification, as a library in another Go project, I'd assume that I can put that project under another open source license (e.g. we use Apache 2.0 in go-perun) or even use go-ethereum as a library in proprietary, closed-source software - because it is LGPL licensed.

However, strictly speaking, the LGPL states that this permissive use is only granted if linked _dynamically_, if I interpret the license correctly. Alas, Go links all dependencies _statically_, so wouldn't this imply that I cannot use go-ethereum in any other non-GPL-compatible Go project if using Go's usual build toolchain?

The only other brief discussion I found on this topic is at https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/5kf9tb/why_ethereumgo_is_lgpl/ . There it sounds like the intention behind choosing LGPL as a license for the library parts was to actually give permission to other Go projects to use go-ethereum without forcing them to open-source under a GPL-compatible license themselves (given that modification of go-ethereum itself are, of course, open-sourced).

I guess part of the confusion comes from the fact that the LGPL was designed with the gcc toolchain for C/C++ programs in mind, where dynamic linking was and still is a more frequent mode of operation than for, say, Go, where static linking is the default (and very hard to change).
