Sincerely hope that the "too-long-mempool-chain" limit will be lifted or seriously increased in one of the next upgrades.

Imagine thinking that a peer to peer electronic cash system shouldn't be used peer to peer 99.98% of the time.

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 10:15 AM PDT

So BTC is supposed to rattle the fiat system, but it doesn't replace fiat. You are basically supposed to use fiat while hodling BTC. Isn't this like having the cure for cancer but asking patients to just store it in a safe place?

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 11:58 AM PDT

To convey that a coin can only affect change ONLY when it is transacted, imagine a coin that is perfect currency - call it X-Coin, invented in 1990.

This would have solved the issues we have with fiat. However, it has been stored in 10 million people's wallets all this time. X-Coin has had 0 transactions since 1990.

Now whether X-Coin exists or not, would you have known the difference?

A madeup coin and a coin with 0 usage have the same effect on society it seems.

BTC is stuck at 500K transactions per day. Will this 0.01% of the world's transactions have more an effect than X-Coin's 0.00%? I don't think we know since there has been no studies on it. But I am guessing 0.01% of something is a statistical error away from 0.00% - and so is BCH's 0.09%.

I am giving BTC the benefit of the doubt that it has 2.1MB blocks now - and BCH is practically really 20MB (much above this number seems to be pushing current tech boundaries).

If you think 0.01% is a lot because 500K is a lot. Say you are trying to over-throw Amazon but your business manages to take away 0.01% of Amazon's business - and you are very likely a multi-100 millionaire (if not a billionaire) since 0.01% of Amazon is a heck of a lot!

But if you are perpetually stuck at 0.01% - would you think you are even a blip on Amazon's radar?

Bitcoin Cash is not the Bitcoin they know

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 04:57 PM PDT

Bitcoin Cash is is the fiat killer app. Let's stop trying to brand ourselves as the speculative investment Bitcoin Core has become. Market Cap is a by product of what we do. Not the primary measure of success. Adoption of a "cash" coin has better measures of success in my opinion. Unique records of people spending BCH and merchants choosing BCH is a far better measure in my books. Where do you see this happening? How are you promoting adoption? As a developer its easy to code new tools and features. But no one will know the value of those features if we don't keep introducing people to this fiat killer tech.

What happens with BTC chain after the block size limit being reached? There is no gradual growth of active addresses anymore, LN has got only 1000 BTC in it. BTC chain becomes a treasury reserve for elites, just like banks forbid hoarding of Gold, now the high fees will put people out of the game.

    It's Fusion Friday!

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 10:17 AM PDT

CashFusion brings exceptional levels of privacy to Bitcoin Cash, comparable to (or maybe even superior to) other privacy coins. It's already been used to fuse 791,310 BCH, and has reduced the size of the UTXO set by 53,133 outputs.

Make sure to spin up Electron Cash 4.1.0 today and get that liquidity flowing! (The more people using CashFusion at once, the more Fusions happen, and the larger your "anonymity set".) If you had the pre-official-release 4.1.0, or the "release candidate" (with "rc" in the file name), you can update to the official 4.1.0 release for the latest version.

New to CashFusion? No problem, getting set up is EASY.

Just download the Electron Cash desktop wallet. It's got CashFusion built in!

Set up your wallet (and be sure to write down your recovery phrase on a physical piece of paper, especially if you are going to hold significant amounts of coin in the wallet), then activate CashFusion by clicking the icon in the lower right:

    https://i.imgur.com/DXEPLtf.png

Once it's activated, your wallet will start "fusing" the Bitcoin Cash it contains. Fusions happen over time as their own, separate transactions, and only cost you the network transactions fees (less than a penny). Each fusion transaction will include some of your coins*, so it will take multiple fusion transactions before all the coins in your wallet to be fused. (In the View menu, toggle the coins tab to see all of the coins in your wallet. In the "Label" field, fused coins will show CashFusion info.)

Currently, Electron Cash keeps fusing your coins indefinitely. While it is on the roadmap to give you the option to stop fusing after some number of fusions per coin, there's no downside to leaving it to fuse continuously besides paying the transaction fees. (And every fusion gives you that much more privacy, while you are helping to provide "liquidity" for other fusers.)

Also, EC does not yet yet prevent you from spending unfused coins, nor does it prefer fused coins when spending, so it's probably best to leave it fusing and keep your whole wallet fused, and/or pick your coins manually from the Coins tab. (If you want that functionality and/or you're not comfortable picking coins to spend from the Coins tab, you can always switch back to CashShuffle for now in the Optional Features window, accessible from the Tools menu.)

Here's the CashFusion Telegram group where you are welcome to ask questions. (Just remember to be courteous!)

    Happy Fusing!! <3

*"Coins" are kind of a confusing concept when it comes to Bitcoin, but you can think of them just like discrete "bills" (or... "coins") in your wallet, but instead of coming in only certain sizes like $1, $5, $10, $20, etc, they can be any amount sent to you in a previous transaction, like 0.618 BCH, 0.000001 BCH, or 123.45679 BCH. (They can also be combined and split up. That happens in most transactions!)

How can I make this "bitcoin geocache" project happen without letting wallets get imported?

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 07:47 AM PDT

I read an article about how people are hiding BCH wallets around San Francisco and had an idea for a cool project. I want to put stickers with private key QR codes around town and allow people to scan them when they find them and sweep the funds into their account. Kind of like some of the existing "bitcoin geocache" projects that are out there.

But, I want the wallets to be re-usable, so that once a sticker is found, I can re-fund that wallet for the next lucky person. Sure, someone could keep a picture of the QR code and sweep it regularly, which is fine, but what I am worried about is people importing the wallets and getting notifications any time they are funded and immediately draining them.

Is there a way to allow wallet sweeping but prevent someone from importing the wallet into their app?

Does anyone see any other viable way I could do this?

I'm hoping to fund the project with donations, was thinking I could have a public address and write some script or something to automatically distribute donations to random wallets around town. The idea is to spread awareness and educate locals about crypto by letting them find free money.
