There needs to be a better way to convert addresses between formats Posted: 02 Aug 2020 02:57 AM PDT I need to convert to and from legacy since Ledger and exchanges use different address formats. The first search result for converting the address is cashaddr.bitcoincash.org/ but that is down, and tools.bitcoin.com produces a blank page when I click on legacy address on three different browsers. Only the third site better-converter.com worked, but it's scary to use a site which might be a honeypot (edit: doesn't look to be the case, at least my transaction went through with address converted using better-converter). It's bad enough that there are two different incompatible address formats, which is yet another thing newcomers have to learn. I don't have a solution on how to make the conversion transparent to the user - I'm just an end-user - but this is just awful UX. I prefer BCH for many reasons and have since the fork, but this alone is enough for me to look for alternatives. [link] [comments] | ||
Idea for improving BCH governance: Increase coinbase/mining rewards lock time Posted: 01 Aug 2020 05:24 PM PDT Miners have been historically apathetic towards the coins they mine. Conflicts supposed to be resolved with CPU votes have been allowed to escalate again and again until flawed and censored social media or hard forks had to "fix" the problem. Perhaps if mining rewards were locked for a longer time miners would take their role more seriously and take steps to prevent instability. If for example the coinbase/mining rewards were locked for 25.920 blocks (~6 months) instead of just 100, they would be forced to think longer term. This would be a simple change in line with the Bitcoin Cash philosophy and current design unlike complicated and fanciful masternode designs. [link] [comments] |
