    Reddit's ERC-20 initiative explained

    Community Points (CPs) will be issued as ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. While Reddit officially stated that they don't have any clear utility, the current proposal looks akin to a governance token, as they'll enable voting within individual subreddits.

    Reddit stands to make a large profit since the firm will receive 20% of all Community Points.

    How CPs are differentiated from Karma:

    1. They will be created per subreddit whereas karma is Reddit-wide
    2. CPs are publicly tradable on Ethereum
    3. Only points that are earned can be used in governance (e.g. subreddit voting) which prevents direct vote buying (there are potential indirect methods for vote buying).

    In addition to accruing value in a similar manner to COMP's governance token, these tokens will have a burn mechanism and decreasing supply, similar to an exchange token like BNB. Since Reddit makes revenue off of advertisements, there is an opportunity to better monetize banner ads via a profit split with subreddits.

    Perhaps most intriguing is the potential to incentivize new social behavior. For example, it's possible to imagine a future where r/Wallstreebets becomes a private trading community that requires a membership to join. Alternatively, new behaviors could arise, such as retail traders wagering "bull bucks" (not the actual token) on which stocks will go up or down.

    While we are working on the full 2020 Q2 dapp ecosystem report - we released a quickly digestible overview of the second quarter of 2020 in the context of daily active wallets.

    We look at the performance of the three main blockchains Ethereum, EOS, and TRON as well as the rest of the blockchains such as WAX, ThunderCore, Steem, and Hive.

    Overall dapp ecosystem activity has grown by 22% when comparing Q1 to Q2 2020.

    In the report, we take a closer look at the Ethereum's category split and their individual performance during Q2 2020.

    • Ethereum faced a 6% decline in daily dapp activity in Q2. This decrease in daily active wallets is due to high gas prices forcing a decline in games category activity.
    • Even though the games category declined in daily active wallets, growth in the DeFi and DEX space picked up the slack Q2.

    Are there some good books, forums, or subreddits on ENS and IPFS. The material I find is either pure marketing with no content, or pure content (solidity) with no context.

    I'm trying to understand ENS and IPFS, determine if ENS or IPFS assets can be bought or must only be rented, determine what properties ENS or IPFS objects can contain.
