New Fundamental Research Plattform - CoinDecide Beta Launch

    Posted: 01 May 2020 10:56 AM PDT

    TLDR:

We made fundamental analysis for cryptocurrencies easy. CoinDecide.com 's Beta starts now.

    Our Vision & Mission

There are thousands of financial or social metrics about cryptocurrencies on the internet, but when it comes to fundamental characteristics we are barely able to compare coins with each other. Almost nobody has the time to fundamentally analyse each single cryptocurrency out there.

We at CoinDecide.com decided to tackle this problem. Our goal is to establish a unique research platform which enables comparing cryptocurrencies with each other on a fundamental level.

    Fundamental Research

We identified the most important fundamental cryptocurrency properties and researched them for you. Some of these properties are:

Transaction Speed, Transaction Fees, Anonymity, Eco-Friendliness, Consensus Quorum, Immutability, Scalability, Inflation, Code Base, Smart Contracts, Quantum Resistance

Interestingly, we found out that there is no easy way to have access to all this valuable information at once anywhere in the cryptosphere. All the known websites enlisting coins inform you about the craziest metrics like how many tweets the coins have or how many GitHub stars they have but the fundamental information mentioned above are missing everywhere.

So we decided to solve this problem by doing the necessary research for you. With the help of these fundamental properties, crypto investors are finally going to be able to filter coins based on their own principal preferences. Now you have the power to cut the list down to what really interests you in terms of fundamental characteristics. We envision empowering smarter decisions with this platform.

    Our Beta has started

As our resources are limited we are researching only the most known coins for now, but you can support us by sharing your knowledge about coins you already know well (https://coindecide.com/change-request). Over time, we plan to strengthen our research results with stronger sources and more explanations.

We would love to hear your feedback about the project. You can use this Reddit thread, or use this form (https://coindecide.com/contact) to contact us any time about bug reports, improvements suggestions or anything else you want in general.

Petro the Venezuelan goverment backed "crypto" is trading at less that 8 USD, goverment insist it is a stablecoin and it value MUST be 60 USD by law

    Posted: 01 May 2020 01:30 PM PDT

    Hi guys, Venezuelan living here.

You can see my post history, I usually keep track of the weekly amount traded in LocalBitcoin here in Venezuela (around 500 BTC weekly).

In Dec 2019 goverment airdropped 0.5 PTR (Petro) to a big chunk of Venezuelans, mostly public employees. Stores were obligated to accept it as way of payment (using a wallet o using somekind of POS that links the wallet with the fingerprint of the user). Goverment said: You must accept it and its value is 60 USD, so a lot of people spend their 0.5 PTR (around 30 USD) for like 3-4 days.

    Then, it stopped.

Why? The money wasn't getting to the stores and when it did, they paid it in Bolivares, losing a big part of the value (some of the were receiving only 20 USD instead of the 30 USD).

After no one accepted it, a lot of people didn't spend the petros, so didnt know what to do with them.

The only exchanges where you can trade the PTR, are Venezuelan (One is called Amberescoin other is called Criptolago) and they have a really HIGH KYC policy (ID, passport, selfies and so on), I even think you can register ONLY if you are Venezuelan. These exchanged were sponsored by the goverment and they had to have a permission of the goverment to open a "legal" exchange.

Anyway, these "Exchanges" are kinda free market, so the Petro took its "real" value. It wasnt accepted anywhere and people just wanted to exchange for "something".

Remember, here the MONTHLY minimum wage is around 4-5 USD! Yes, you read it right, MONTHLY.

And when there is a lot of offer and no demand... the price drops...

Right know the price is around 1,300,000 Bs. (Bolivares). With a exchange rate of 1 USD = 175,000 Bs.

That is LESS than 8 USD.

Of course this is a complete mess to the govement, they insist its price should be FIXED and MUST be 60 USD. Good look with that.

This is one of the exchanges:

    https://twitter.com/AmberesCoin/status/1256201821430984704/photo/1

(There you can see PTR/VES 1,300,000)

    Here is the USD equivalent

    New "Ripplé" XRP scam

    Posted: 01 May 2020 06:50 PM PDT

So i was checking my transaction history and noticed i had been sent an incredibly tiny amount of XRP yesterday. Viewed it in the explorer and there was a memo included with the following:

Starting May 1st, 2020, XRP is making fast moves towards economic rebound. With the launch of the Incentive Plan and the Community Support Outreach Program, XRP users are able to register by whitelisting their wallet address and receive XRP in the scheduled giveaways. Registration and address whitelist available at https://*hidden fraud domain*s.com

a quick google of that led me to ripplé.com . I hadn't my glasses on and only just saw the accent on the e as I was starting to believe it. A very good reminder that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Appear to have lost my BTC on nano ledger S, since updating my firmware from 1.3.1 to 1.6 and upgrading to Ledger Live. Anyone have the same problem or any possible solutions please?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 02:06 AM PDT

I have not used my ledger Nano Ledger S in over a year so I had to update the firmware from 1.3.1 to 1.6 and I had to download Ledger Live to access my crypto on it as per the instructions on: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023518653-Solutions-to-most-common-issues

Although this was not a simple task, everything seemed to run smoothly. I did not need to enter my word seed, only 4 digit passcode. My ETH and XRP showed up as I left it one year ago, however I also had BTC on there which does not show up. It's also quite confusing as to why there is two Bitcoin chains (native segwit and segwit). Regardless, the Bitcoin amount does not show up on either.

I've also tried clearing the cache in Ledger Live but this did not solve it.

I was wondering wether it is is worth trying to recover the BTC by starting my Ledger Nano S as a new device and entering the word seeds. Or if there is any other method?

Unfortunately, I did not note down the public BTC address but I think I can dig it out if really needed (will have to scroll through Coinbase Pro/Binance).

Note, I have tried contacting the ledger team but have not yet had any reply.

    Thanks for your help.

    Discussion of the Day: THETA

    Posted: 01 May 2020 12:56 PM PDT

-Today's Crypto of the Day is THETA, and it's current price is $0.1248.

DUE TO SOME PERSONAL ISSUES, I AM TEMPORARILY BEHIND ON FOLLOW UP POSTS. I WILL EVENTUALLY CATCH UP AND POST MY OPINIONS ON ALL OF THEM. I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE LOW EFFORT POSTS AND WILL DO MY BEST TO POST A NEW DISCUSSION DAILY FOR A WHILE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

-Since 2/18/20, I have posted a crypto/asset of the day for discussion. I typically begin by posting the current price, as well as the brief CoinMarketCap summary. If there is a video featuring it on Coin Bureau, I also post that. After a week or so, I usually post replies to some of the posts, and I also add an overall summary of my thoughts, if I plan to hold any, and is so how much.

-I strongly encourage everyone to follow up on past discussions and you can still make comments on them. There is a lot of valuable information on many of these posts, so please check them out as you have time. You may learn a lot regarding some of these projects. I know I certainly did! https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/search?q=author%3Ajoenorwood77&restrict_sr=on

-My first month or so I featured projects listed on some of the main exchanges. Now I plan to focus on the top 100 on CoinMarketCap. After that I expect to broaden to the top 200, and then some random moonshots. I will eventually create a post looking for any projects I should feature before I eventually close this project.

-Just because I feature a project does not mean I like it. I feel discussion on bad projects are just as important as the good ones. It is useful to hear pros and cons about every project, even if you are simply playing devils advocate.

-I would say a perfect reply would include at least one pro and at least one con for the project. However, I still feel it is acceptable if you post only pros or cons. If your post does not have any substance to it, "this coin is a scam", "avoid this shitcoin", "this coin will moon to $1000 by the end of 2020", then I will just assume you are posting for personal gain rather than helping the community. If you simply downvote the post without any comments, the only thing you accomplish is having less people view the post. I do not care about Reddit Karma, but if a post drops to zero early on, it can be extremely difficult for people to even find these discussions (which I assume is your intention).

-These posts are not meant to be financial advice, but instead to be an educational discussion. Everyone is responsible for doing their own research. For each project, I am interested in learning if you have any investment in it, and if so, about what percentage of your portfolio does it carry. Most importantly, what should we all know; good, bad, and indifferent, about this project?

Would the Crypto.com MCO card be a good way to get started in crypto?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 07:59 PM PDT

I just got an ad during an iphone game for the cards and was intrigued. You can see the general info page here: https://crypto.com/en/cards

I've done a little digging and don't 100% understand everything about it, but it seems like it's a crypto debit card.

I've been toying with the idea of getting into crypto for a while now and this seems like it might be a good way to get into it given the rewards on the card. Would you all recommend this as a way to get into the crypto game or should I start somewhere else?
