Can Ethereum solve traffic woes in congested cities?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 09:02 PM PDT

A lot of the traffic we see is due to unnecessary trips. Currently there is no way other than toll gates to monetize roads. Etherem, however, enables micro payments. What if, with using a mapping protocol such as FOAM, we can charge cars by streaming roads. This works very well in an electric and/or self driving future since you cannot tax electricity differently for cars than you can for regular use. It also works much better than the gasoline tax which does not differentiate between congested and uncongested routes, and can adjust the price according to the time of day. A scheme like this would also highly encourage the use of public transit instead of a personal automobile. Buses, for example, would get a discount in peak hours since they carry larger numbers in a relatively small footprint. Same can be applied to lorries and trucks. Charge can be increased or decreased at will. An IOT device on your bonnet can be filled with Dai, and it will display the charges on the nearby roads, you could also get an estimate if you log in your destination. Ethereum is the only way to implement a system such as this. One protocol rules them all, there is no need for siloed companies and city administrations to communicate with one another, as it all happens on the blockchain.

I was wondering if any one has been working on something similar. Just sharing my thoughts.

    Using web3 browsers on mobile

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 04:45 PM PDT

Was tinkering with Status, but they don't seem to give you control over browser data, like deleting cookies and the like. Or maybe I'm missing something? I'm still pretty new to all this.

Wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a browser that's privacy focused, like Firefox, but has web3 integration.

Edit: By the way, I'm on iOS...that's probably important.

How to see old verified contracts?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2020 04:23 PM PDT

Hi everyone, the list of verified contracts on Etherscan (https://etherscan.io/contractsVerified/1?filter=opensourcelicense) only shows contracts created after 21/07/2019. Is there a way to go a bit more back in time and see a bigger list?

Is it possible to create a local ethereum network to test my dapp ?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2020 10:48 PM PDT

I want to test my Dapp over a local network of 10 PCs.

Is it possible to do that?

Will only the PCs connected to the network act as the nodes of the network with data not distributing over any other not-on-my-network node?

Also, how do I create a local ethereum network and how can I use metamask to connect to it?
