Ethereum EIP 1559 is perhaps one of the most anticipated upgrades to the economic model of Ethereum. Proposed by Vitalik Buterin in his Blockchain Resource Pricing paper, the mechanism seeks to replace the first-price auction model governing the current fee market for transaction inclusion.

    ETH 2.0 Resource List

    Posted: 13 Apr 2020 11:18 AM PDT

    Hi r/ethereum!

I am looking to gather resources on all proposed changes coming up with ETH 2.0. EIP's that will turn ERC's, white papers, anything like that. The more recent the resource, the better. I have done some googling and there are a ton of fluff articles by crypto price news websites; figured asking some of the veterans here what to look at would be a good idea.

Price stuff is okay if it has to do with cryptoeconomics (i.e. EIP 1559). This is not the thread to post anything like "PROOF that $ETH will return to ALL TIME HIGHS when ETH 2.0 is released" or in similar kinds.

    Thanks!

Geth mainnet full node - system requirements

    Posted: 13 Apr 2020 06:23 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

this is a question for all of you in the community that are running full nodes on mainnet. What service do you use for running it on production and which specifications do you use for it?

Buying hardware is not an option for now (corona and stuff), so some hosted service would be preferred way for doing this.

If you are not running geth but some other client, feedback is also welcomed. :)

Things like https://ava.do/ are great, but currently are not an option.

Regarding 51% attack on Eth 2

    Posted: 13 Apr 2020 07:36 AM PDT

Number of addresses with more than 32 eth is 109,000. 100,000 of them can register as a validator.

We have 64 shards. So 100,000/64=1562.5 validator. So each shard will have 1562.5 validators. So 1562.5*32=50,000 eth will be staked per shared.

So for 51% attack in 1 shard, 25,000 eth is needed.

    Have I made any mistakes?

How to allow connections to my geth node from localhost but not from the outside?

    Posted: 13 Apr 2020 12:22 PM PDT

I'm running a geth node on my windows desktop and want to allow only local connections (mycrypto, metamask) to it.

When I run geth with this command, anybody from the outside can connect to my geth node?

    geth.exe --rpc --rpccorsdomain "null"

Best Service for Earning Interest on ETH???

    Posted: 13 Apr 2020 11:17 AM PDT

So I've been doing some research on how to earn interest on ETH. It seems that most of the platforms that I come across are struggling to offer stable interest rates in the current macro environment. Even if rates are somewhat stable, they are not typically very competitive (no different than traditional fiat banks). I want to just use services like Celsius but I am afraid that there are better options elsewhere. Also not looking to have funds locked up for any significant period of time. Does anyone else have these concerns or am I just thinking too hard here? Any suggestions for at least your favorite service providers regarding the above? Thanks, defi community.
