I just published 10x smaller Ethereum signer/verifier on JavaScript

I often need Ethereum account creation and message signing/verification on my web apps. Sadly, every library with that functionality (web3, ethers, ethereumjs, etc.) increases my apps sizes considerably; from 300kb to 1mb, even minified, which is annoying, specially if the site is lightweight. To improve it, I started from elliptic.js and did a lot of aggressive, manual pruning. The result so far is a 50kb library called nano-ethereum-signer capable of generating accounts, hashing with keccak, signing messages and verifying signatures: just the minimal functionality needed to cook your own password-less, plugin-less login system. It is 10-20x smaller than all alternatives I've tried, and there is still room for improvements (such as using BigInt). I still need to add the license since I copied a lot of code from other projects.

Edit: since so many seem to appreciate this, could we set up a bounty for improving it? I won't be able to work on it further, but it is important for my projects. Sadly, ECDSA on pure JS is still slow (500 sigs/second). Optimizing this (with EWASM?) and decreasing the size further would be highly valuable to me, so I'd gladly contribute with such a bounty. I never used Gitcoin, could anyone tell me if it can be used for that?

    SkyWeaver vs. Gods Unchained

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 11:05 AM PDT

So the past several months I've been playing Gods Unchained and really enjoyed it (minus the bugs) but recently I saw a post on here about SkyWeaver raising another 5 million and thought I would give it a shot... Man what a difference! I don't see how I can honestly ever go back to Gods Unchained after playing Skyweaver (which can be played on mobile btw) the Art is right up my ally, the UI is refreshing and clean, if there are bugs they were barely noticeable just a little lag once in a while (way less bugs for a game that has less funding than Gods Unchained really spoke time me about what the heck they are doing over at GU). People are asking if SkyWeaver is another Hearthstone clone. I honestly don't know because I never played Hearthstone, but even if it's really similar... a tcg similar to another tcg isn't necessarily a bad thing, that's like saying you shouldn't buy Ferrari because it's a clone of the Ford Model-T. I've really been enjoying the game so far and the fact I can play on my mobile while not at home and still grind up the rankings is awesome. 10/10 score for new blockchain tcg card game(I say new because it's still in beta). Give it a shot imho.

Edit: do a little research before jumping in, theres advice to be found like "don't hook up your meta ask wallet if asked" they also give you a wallet for their specific token they use anyways.

    Enceladus Ether RPG Beta Test!

    Enceladus Ether RPG Beta Test!

Hey Everyone! We haven't posted in a while, I've had my head to the ground building most of the winter. And now we're at a pretty exciting milestone, our first real beta test.

Enceladus is a retro text-based RPG with millions of items to craft or collect, thousands of enemies to fight, and many places to explore. It draws inspiration heavily from permadeath roguelikes and MUD style games, where you log on with a friend and pit yourself against mist wolves, ether mites, or skora raiders, but with a twist.

The biggest enemies are walking around with Ether, which is integrated into the server in an offchain mode, but integrated into the client in an onchain mode. So taking down that legendary vampiric skullbinder shaman will earn your team actual crypto, that you can withdraw. It's a 100% free, with no ads or monetization. All donations go straight back into the game pool.

I've been working on this by myself for about a year now, as an experiment to explore how Ethereum could be integrated into games in the future, I'm certainly not a dev shop, just a guy that always wanted to build a game, and decided this way the perfect excuse to try.

There's currently about $200 of Ethereum in the game, and the server goes live Friday at 5pm MST, for two weeks. The pot runs entirely on donations, there's no pay to win crap, but if you die, you do lose any ether you were carrying around. We'll see how it goes lol!

Please feel free to ask any questions about my process, vision, the game itself, whether it's all really an elaborate scheme to run bitcoin miners in your browser(no, it's not), or anything else that comes to mind. I'm really excited to see how many people we can get in the game at one time, and how well my server does.

How do smart contracts bet on real life events?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 12:24 AM PDT

I see some dApps that utilize smart contracts that bet on real life events such as boxing, basketball, etc. They let users bet on how many points they think a team will score, how many strikes thrown. How do they implement real life events into a smart contract?

Need help to decide how to build something with Ethereum

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 02:22 AM PDT

    Hello dear community,

I have ideas of decentralized-projects which I think have great value. However, each of these projects needs secure data feeds (Chainlink apparently solves that) and secure persistent databases.

I am stuck in my conception at the storage level. What I want to store, my data, is mostly strings (text). This data may not exist forever (it can be removed) in my application but by default it should.

I have read about IPFS, SWARM, Filecoin, GunJS, etc. I don't master nor really understand if these can REALLY solve my problem. I feel like I still need to store data on-chain, because no project can really secure my data forever, no matter what, and pay for each KB, but I'm afraid of the price..

I would gladly like any help !
