    This is to gauge community sentiment on whether we should allow meme type posts all the time, and also test out the new poll functionality of reddit.

    Having to sell to pay my bills

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 08:24 PM PDT

    It's been good guys I made a couple of bucks but sadly because of this whole virus thing I have to sell. Lost my job. Savings are gone. I thought I could wait a bit but this is my last option. I'm praying price drops and things get better so I can get back in.

    I wish all y'all the best.

    A made a Cryptocurrency tracking spreadsheet complete with live crypto price updates, moon math, and a full history of your Portfolio and trading performance (fixed).

    I have posted this previously however since then coinmarketcap have changed their api. This version has a workaround for that - with the downside that it takes much longer to fetch price data. You will need to be patient when opening the file and when you press the price refresh button.

    This is a spreadsheet that I have developed for myself gradually over the last couple years. I have found it very helpful for keeping track of my bitcoin holdings (great for tax purposes). No need to trust third party apps to keep your personal information - track it yourself.

    There is a lot in here including;

    Automatically updates prices from coinmarketcap. The top 200 coins included. Just select which ones you want to track by typing in the name.

    You can even choose your local Fiat currency and get live conversion rates for any country.

    You don't need to record details of every trade. Just keep track of your crypto purchases (from fiat) and what coins you currently hold. The spreadsheet will calculate the rest and keep a record of how your portfolio and holdings have changed over time (it logs this data every time you save the sheet)

    I find this very handy to see if your trading is actually profitable compared to the HODL method.

    Oh yes and there are plenty of 'moon math' and analytics to see how bitcoin is trending. This includes a full history of bitcoins price which updates every time you open the sheet.

    This version has some bug fixes and a few new features including a 'Stock to flow' price prediction model;

    free download from here. Instructions inside. You will need macros enabled if you want it to do the fancy stuff.

    Discussion of the Day: Siacoin SC

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 05:05 PM PDT

    -Today's Crypto of the Day is SiaCoin SC, and it's current price is $0.0013.

    -Initially, since my first crypto of the day post on 2/18/20, I waited to post specific information on each project until people made posts. I waited to help prevent bias. Based on feedback, I now post information early to show I am not going for low effort posts, and actually trying to facilitate qualify discussions. Please feel free to search for my other posts, to see the information I and others have added.

    -So far, I have featured all 20 crypto from Coinbase, 26 from Coinbase Pro, and 5 from Gemini. I now plan to finish the remaining ones on Binance US, Kraken, and others. Just because I feature a project does not mean I like it. I feel discussion on bad projects are just as important as the good ones. It is useful to hear pros and cons about every project, even if you are simply playing devils advocate.

    -These posts are not meant to be financial advice, but instead to be an educational discussion. Everyone is responsible for doing their own research. For each project, I am interested in learning if you have any investment in it, and if so, about what percentage of your portfolio does it carry. Most importantly, what should we all know; good, bad, and indifferent, about this project?

    -My challenge to each of you is to learn and post about projects you do not currently hold. It is easy for anyone to shill a coin they are trying to make a profit on, or to simply downvote and troll something they do not. As a community, let's all try to encourage intellectual discussion on any and all projects out there. We can all learn a lot from each other if we try...

    How many cryptocurrencies are there?

    Posted: 26 Mar 2020 03:36 AM PDT

    I've looked it up but have found greatly varying estimates.

    Investing.com's list ( https://www.investing.com/crypto/currencies ) seems fairly reliable but I'm not sure why the estimates and figures differ so much.

    Thanks for any help.

    Inflation: forgive my ignorance.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2020 01:29 PM PDT

    If the FED inject $6trillion into the US economy how does that affect stable coins if they want to stay pegged 1 to 1?

    Also with that amount of inflation the price of Bitcoin must surely go up with all other currencies against the USD?

    BUT USD buying power is at a high so can they inflate the currency without doing too much damage?

    So confusing. Appreciate some clarity
