Security Suggestion: Optional Rolling PINs for hard wallets. Posted: 11 Mar 2020 01:02 AM PDT We live in trying times, and with the economy about to turn south this is the perfect opportunity for me to exploit your fear to sell you on further security. You think you are safe if you have a hardware wallet? Not if anyone knows you have it. Cameras. Cameras everywhere. Then, it doesn't matter if they don't know your seed or your passphrase or whatever clever thing you think will stop them. All they needed was to have a video of you typing that PIN code in once and hardware wallet was as good as a gold bar just laying on your coffee table. Have a scared you enough yet? Well good news, that story may be true but I also just made it up so it's more likely that it's not. But it could be. Rolling PINs fixes this for the most part. Stupid person explanation: You have two different PINs memorized for the same account, but every time you use one it becomes invalid until its twin is used and so on. This is just one little extra layer of security you could have, because a would be thief is very likely to steal your hardware wallet the moment they realize they have your PIN... which they won't have... because that PIN won't work anymore... I don't think I can explain this any better because weed is legal in my state so I don't even know what dimension I am typing this in right now. But take it from baked af me, this idea sounds really good to me right now. Btw, it's a stupid person explanation because I am currently as such. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Mar 2020 06:28 PM PDT I am 15 and have around 0.01 BTC, but I dont have any way of spending it. Anyone got any ideas how i could spend it online (or in person would be better.) I am in Australia. Getting a BTC debit card is not an option as you have to be 18. Selling the BTC and getting a real debit card is not an option, because I have no way to sell it (exchanges require you to be over 18 as well) If you know of anyways I would be so grateful, I have been looking around for ages! Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) is here! Posted: 10 Mar 2020 04:10 PM PDT Bitcoin is antithesis to irresponsible sovereign currency issuers. So, its important to learn how governments manage their own currencies. In simple terms, MMT is a method by the governments to manage a balanced economy by issuing their own currency as much they need and then control inflation by tweaking the taxes. The experts are proposing MMT as the silver bullet with no risk. But the end game will be a collapse in the value of their Sovereign Currencies. This is a potential catalyst that can get Bitcoin to $1M. A good read for understanding where we are heading and the potential consequences: MMT explained in simple terms by an animated owl, watch this video. A short video for CNBC explaining the basics of MMT here. A good read on MMT: https://www.businessinsider.com/modern-monetary-theory-mmt-explained-aoc-2019-3 [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Mar 2020 12:52 PM PDT I want to run a full BTC node. I am not interested in making any money, want to support the BTC community. Should I use hardware that is not used for other purposes? (for Privacy and Safety reasons) Are there any risks or issues I should mitigate or consider? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Mar 2020 03:06 AM PDT I'm starting to believe that the coronavirus is a scapegoat for the upcoming recession caused by the financial system's irresponsible policies and boundaries. We might have some short term sell-off on cryptomarkets, but I think it's the years of commodities & Bitcoin. $BTC [link] [comments]

Taxation of Cryptocurrencies in germany Posted: 11 Mar 2020 03:51 AM PDT hi guys i have been reading about the taxation of crypotrocurrencies in germany and i still dont quite understand. it says that if you own the bitcoin that you buy for more than a year, then the gains you get from the sales of bitcoin are tax exempt. but if you trade it within the one year holding period, then you will at least have a tax exemption of 600 euros. this is the part i dont understand. does it mean that if i actively trade bitcoins without holding them for 1 year, then the gains i get from trading only have a tax exemption of 600 euros for one year? if the gains exceed 600 euros then i subject to taxation? can anyone from germany enlighten me in this regard? thanks in advance!
