I see some people getting depressed/demotivated, selling coins, etc. This may turn out to be a mere bump in the road. In any case, I'll still be here, fighting for Bitcoin, a p2p electronic cash system.

Interesting observations regarding the miner fund code

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 02:51 PM PST

    From: https://reviews.bitcoinabc.org/source/bitcoin-abc/browse/master/src/validation.cpp$2052

    A few observations:

    1. This code takes 5% of the block reward + fee. This creates incentives for developers to keep fees high, potentially.

    2. The code doesn't seem particularly carefully written. It doesn't support spreading out the payment to several whitelist addresses. A miner has to pay the 5% of the total reward to exactly one of the whitelist addresses.

    3. There is no 6 mo. sunset clause or anything in this code currently. Once activated via soft fork voting (BIP9), the new consensus rule will be forever active, unless deactivated by another hard fork / upgrade.

    4. There are typos in the original commit -- see here: https://reviews.bitcoinabc.org/source/bitcoin-abc/browse/master/src/consensus/params.h$18

    EDIT:

    • From this: https://reviews.bitcoinabc.org/source/bitcoin-abc/browse/master/src/chainparams.cpp$343 . The voting activated retroactively going back to Nov. 15th, 2019! For all we know, if some miners happened to emit blocks with those bits active (say, some ASICboost related optimizations), this may already be activated! Someone should write some code to loop through all the blocks since then up until now. For all I know at the time I type this -- this has already been activated... Doesn't it feel nice to know you were participating an election back then that you only now found out about?

EDIT2: I just talked to an OG miner and looked at the blockchain. No blocks have those bits set. ASICBoost leaves them fixed. Bullet dodged.

Feature creep is a legitimate threat to any Bitcoin fork. The assumption that simply adding more stuff to the Bitcoin protocol is what will make it valuable is incorrect—if it were right, any alt coin could add that one extra feature and it would dominate. Not how it works.

Hexadecimal dice rolls, question on private key generation ...

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 09:49 PM PST

When doing this, for the letter generation, could you make all the letters capital letters when rolling, or is this completely idiotic, I heard a YouTuber say u could either do all lower or upper caps for the letters? I would think a combo of both could be more random?.

Read.Cash as a serious publishing platform.

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:43 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

I signed up as a writer on the Read.Cash platform and I really believe that platform will mature into a serious competitor to other publishing platforms such as Issuu.com. Just give it time :)

If spam and plagiarism are tackled head on, Read.Cash has the potential to grow into something similar to Medium.com.

I am in the process of publishing all of my books and articles on Read.Cash, mainly Philosophy and Theology.

You can find links to my books and articles below. Be sure to follow me as I push updates every day :)

I know it is not likely to happen, but if I have enough tips from this, I will be able to dedicate all of my time to this project of publishing all my books and articles on this new platform. That should fill up the Philosophy section nicely.

    Thanks for your attention :)

Getting BSV from BCH but accidentally sent

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 11:40 PM PST

    Hi Guys,

Anyone knows if I can recover my BSV, I was trying to split my BSV and I had a brilliant idea of sending BSV to Poliniex directly but I didn't realize I was sending BCH instead of BSV so I sent BCH on BSV address. Fortunately in Poliniex they recognize the sent amount as BCH but the problem is my BSV didn't come through because Split was not properly done.

So my question is, anyway to recover it? If I put the seed directly from my wallet, can I still recover it? If not any future plans of BSV for this type of problem

Edit: I was able to fix the problem by using ElectrumSV directly but now I'm having a problem on BSV Dust, the faucet.satoshisvision.network I think is no longer working. any alternatives?
