Ever questioned if decentralization was important? The Iota Mainnet has been intentionally halted by the Iota foundation two days ago because ten users supposedly lost funds. No info on when they decide to reactivate it.

    Slogans from iota.org:

With a Foundation enabling a permissionless ecosystem

    Redefining trust, value and ownership

The Iota Mainnet was intentionally halted by the Iota foundation on the 12th of February 2020 to find a bug in their trinity wallet. They shut down mainnet after TEN users reported funds stolen.

Only zero value tx are allowed. So no one was able to move any funds since the halt.

The IOTA core protocol is - as already communicated before - not breached.

When will the coordinator resume its work? No one knows.

I am speechless. Shutting down the entire mainnet for everyone for several days just because their own wallet has a bug... how long is the iota seed generator site scam ago where millions of dollars worth of miotas were moved out of wallets?

Dear pool operators that want to support BCH developers from block rewards,

Great! Thanks so much! Please create or designate pool(s) that will donate a per-determined percentage to BCH developers (or whatever fundee(s) you choose and for however long you choose). This will allow miners to put as much hash as they want towards the goal of that pool. Voluntary donations! They can change pools anytime they want. I think these donations could come from BTC, BCH or other block rewards if that is the better place for the pool to mine?

You can make it voluntary for miners by just designating your pool(s) as one that will do this. Maybe you have already done this. If so, Thanks! I suggest this so the miners get fair warning and the anti-donations attackers cannot say it is involuntary.

If you are still listening to my crazy ideas, consider setting it up so the funds go to your designated developers (or whatever cause) directly rather than sending to a central depository that might be captured, infiltrated or corrupted. If you keep the intended fundee(s) and donation percentages listed publicly in advance, by staying in the pool, miners will continue to signal agreement with the pools' charitable activities.

    Your Elevator Pitch

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 11:27 AM PST

Okay, you're in an elevator with someone, they spot your Bitcoin wallet and they then proceed to ask you:

"What's this Bitcoin thing and why should I bother about it?"

You have about 30 seconds before you have to get out the elevator.

    What do you say?

Would it be possible for an organization on par with a Nation State to forcibly subvert (tax) Lightning Network funds to support war?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 10:39 PM PST

Conceivably, couldn't they just open a LN hub and force all tx for their domain to go through their government hub and just take their cut out of the tx?

Basically, I'm worried that once it becomes impossible to tax income because of crypto governments will begin increasing taxes on physical assets but with LN couldn't they just keep business going as normal?

That's hardly the future I want to work toward.
