Posted: 15 Feb 2020 08:33 PM PST ... therefore let's not fracture the community with a controversial development funding plan. Bitcoin Cash is completely technically advanced enough to be worth tens of thousands of dollars today. We are just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up. And for adoption to grow. My interpretation of Amaury Sechét's behavior Posted: 15 Feb 2020 11:19 PM PST In the spirit of "we should always first strive to see the good in people, and not attribute malice" here is my interpretation of Amaury Sechét's behavior: Amaury is trying to encourage decentralization by reducing the community's dependence on himself and Bitcoin ABC. He is very cleverly using game theory: by behaving in a despicable, self-important, self-centered manner, he hopes to drive away Bitcoin ABC users and miners to a different, competing implementation, to encourage the overall health of our token. We should indulge that goodwill, and immediately stop using Bitcoin ABC. This is good for Bitcoin (BCH). [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Feb 2020 09:52 PM PST I don't think bitcoin cash community appreciates the professionalism Amaury brought to the ecosystem enough. His get-it-done-responsibly attitude made bitcoin cash survive through these years. Bitcoin Cash is not BTC. As one of the Chinese guys said (don't remember his name), BCH cannot do nothing and sit on its ass and expect to become successful. It has to move fast but not break fundamental things (large double spends, major code bugs, etc.). I understand there are many in the community who are feeling uneasy with the funding plan. All I can say is that even though BCH is a top 5 coin, it still doesn't exist in the minds of nearly 99% of the world. BCH is literally nothing to them. Even my enthusiasm reduced in these two years from checking out BCH news everyday to checking them out once a month. Amaury has been working with his limited team and limited funding for more than two years to ensure BCH upgrades smoothly every six months. He has lead the development for more than two years and proved his record. He doesn't deserve all the shit thrown at him. The way I see it BCH has to move forward and Amaury has shown that he can implement this. Thank you Amaury for being in BCH. [link] [comments]

How to oppose infrastructure-fund/dev-tax as a non-miner? Posted: 15 Feb 2020 05:52 PM PST Just thought I would start a thread where people can make suggestions about how non-miners can take practical steps to oppose the recent announcement by ABC that they are adding the infrastructure-fund/dev-tax into their code base (https://www.bitcoinabc.org/2020-02-15-miner-fund/). The main way seems to be to deliberately lower the price of BCH by selling some of your stash. However, that signal may very well get lost in the noise of unrelated market fluctuations. What other options do we have? [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Feb 2020 10:56 PM PST First, I just want to note that nullc posted to this sub an hour ago under his own name and it's still present... take a minute to realize that this community already solved a big problem affecting some other communities. Second, ABC (or any dev group) doesn't get to decide how the miners deploy their hash power - nor do the users of that chain. A miner is going to mine according to their economic interest, very likely after carefully considering all possible outcomes... mining is a huge business with a lot at stake. If some devs write code that benefit themselves a bit and the miners buy in, that's a beautiful thing. In fact, I'd say it's a very positive sign of a maturing ecosystem. If this happens and it results in a fork, I'm staying with the sha256 POW chain that has newfound harmony between devs and miners. It would be a significant step in the right direction for solving what is currently an obvious tragedy of the commons on many of these chains. [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Feb 2020 05:23 PM PST While totally unfunded, I'm developing an app that will massively increase BCH adoption. I demand my slice of the miner tax. What is the procedure for claims? Thanks! (yes this post is meant to be ironic, but it's also not entirely untrue) [link] [comments]
