The potential benefits of Next-Gen Game Ownership on Ethereum

I was thinking about all the benefits of the original Xbox One DRM system. It would be awesome if, come next-generation, consoles & PCs would build game ownership on Ethereum. Imagine being able to gift, sell, or share games simply by scanning a QR code. This, without the need of a third-party intermediary like Microsoft, Steam, Sony, or Gamestop. You could technically even sell your games on sites like eBay. With eBay being able to confirm the transfer of rights by verifying the transaction on the public blockchain.

Edit: You could also techinically sell your old console with the rights to your purchased digital games still in it, without having to leave your profile and data on the console itself.

ENS Name availability: app.ens.domains versus etherscan.io

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:54 PM PST

I recently tried to register a name in the ENS registry, but somehow the second transaction never is initiated, and so the registration fails. (first transaction goes through fine though, and I also never had any issues with ENS before using several configurations).

Not sure if this is related, but I noticed that several names that are available according to app.ens.domains, are not available according to etherscan.io, and this is also the case for the name I am trying to register. Could this be related somehow? And would it maybe still be possible to register these names somehow?

I'm also wondering if this is the right place to ask questions like these, I haven't found any subreddit, or forum for ENS support so far to my surprise.

Getting an interest rate for the ETH you own. Is it possible?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 04:18 AM PST

I know how SAI and the new vault system works.

I understand that before, you could lock the ethereum in a CDP and get the SAI (DAI, back in time). Than by lending the SAI (still DAI back in time) maybe in compound you could not break even because of the stability fee.

I see in compound or fulcrum it's possible to deposit SAI and get an interest back, but the interest rate for ETH is too low, now at 0.2%. Maybe fulcrum is a bit higher (why? Because less audited?). But still...

So if you have ethereum and you want to keep them but at the same time earn an interest, how can you do?

Need help to understand key concepts in ERC20 token development

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 02:35 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble understanding the approve, allowance and transferFrom methods in the erc20 interface. What is meant by allowing someone to transfer tokens from the owner account to themselves? Can someone explain to me please?

    Thank you.
